Great, not only are consumers getting confused by petty semantics but so are developers now. It's still a MMORPG. This game is probably not going to see the light of day for quite some time since Atari dropped Cryptic. It's kind of hard to fund development without a publisher. |

How do you want to pay for your games?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/23/11 4:33:47 PM
I would like to write "IOU" on a piece of paper and mail it to them to pay for my sub fee. |

It's kind of stupid that they don't have a client download available on their official website, I had to google for mine. I ended up finding it here. This is the CBT version but it still works. It seems to be updating fine for me at the moment although it's not finished. I'll update if something goes wrong. If it works I won't update, I'll be playing. :P |

Lord of the Rings Online: Update 3 Developer Walkthrough
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/23/11 4:12:21 PM
I do agree with him. It's not impossible to tweak models and make new animations, they're just being lazy. Until they at least fix the combat animations, I won't touch this game again. |

GW1 is still an MMO. It's along the same lines as DDO, treating the city (or cities in GW1's case) as a lobby to host instances through while giving players somewhere to gather. I didn't ask "Who said it?", I asked "Where did he read it?". Forgive me for being skeptical here, but I need proof. This news has serious implications. |

DDO didn't fail. It's doing very well, is very active, and fun. That being said, I agree with most people who dislike how DDO is set up so differently than PnP D&D to the point where it's almost not the same game anymore. Where did you read that D&D Neverwinter isn't going to be an MMO? |

IBM passes Microsoft in market value
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 5/23/11 3:31:51 PM
After trailing behind Microsoft for 15 years, IBM finally regains it's thunder. This puts the order of market value for the top 3 computer companies at: |

Right now it's being developed by an extremely small and underfunded team because they haven't found a publisher yet. It's nothing but vaporware at the moment. :( |

Search no more: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/241 Not only does it have spaceflight, but also seamless atmospheric transitions and a procedurally-generated galaxy as big as a real galaxy. |

Lobby-based multiplayer space shooter, not an MMO. Space isn't even open while you're restricted to nothing but the designated area instanced for your certain PvE mission or PvP match. Sorry, we'll have to wait until somebody starts funding Infinity: The Quest For Earth to get our open-space shooter MMO. EDIT: Or at least until EVE revamps it's combat system into something more interesting than "click, orbit, start firing, win, fall asleep on keyboard". |

The game begins at end game? What garbage. It's the journey, not the destination.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/22/11 3:19:02 PM
If a game begins at endgame, it simply does not have enough interesting content in lower levels. Why is that such a hard concept for some developers to grasp? And yet games, only add content for people at level cap (cataclysm) instead of adding low-to-mid level content that might prompt some of those people into rolling new characters, at least doubling their play-time. They need to consider the advantages of tempting players to roll new characters over raising the level cap while adding endgame content. This is why DDO and City of Heroes are so successful. DDO content packs come out for wide ranges of levels, some of them low, some of them mid, and some of them high. City of Heroes regularly releases huge free content expansions that spans not only every level range, but also advances the plot of the story. I'm glad that we will see the endgame race almost completely disappear once TOR and GW2 come out. Those will be quality games and will do no less than raise the bar for MMO quality across the board. With those 2 awesome games available, it'll be up to other developers to figure out how to adapt, sink or swim. |

I would like to state that my $800 Dell outperformed my friend's $2500 Alienware in both speed of opening identical programs and multitasking. This was done in a side-by-side comparison at a LAN party. 1. Hexa-cores (6 cores) are a ripoff, most games and programs can only utilize 2. Some of the newest games that are yet unreleased have been confirmed to support 3 or 4. Unless you are planning on folding DNA sequences or plotting Astronomy data collected from a satellite, you don't need any more than 4. 2. Windows 7 64-bit can ONLY use 4GB RAM. No more. The full 6GB RAM will never be used even if you somehow fill the 4GB. 3. Why would you put an electric car battery in a desktop computer? In case the power goes out? This part is confusing, I don't see why it's even in there. If you want to be ripped off, go ahead and buy it. |

I feel the same way. The market for MMORPGs on the Xbox is pitifully small compared to PC. Not to mention Microsoft Live service charges on top of likely subscription fees. |

Step 1: Uninstall all Unwanted/Unused programs using Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel. Step 2: Go through your Program Files folder and delete any folder that is either trash leftover from uninstalls or you are 100% SURE that you do not want or need. When in doubt, google it or leave it be. Step 3: Run the Avast Antivirus Boot-time scan. Avast is free, it's also the best. Step 4: Defragment your drive with Defraggler or the default system defrag. Defraggler is free. Step 5 (optional): Increase your virtual memory size. Look here for instructions for Windows 7, make sure to read the whole page because it tells you the maximum size, set it to just below that amount. for instructions for other OP systems, Google is your friend. This will increase the speed of your computer by a substantial amount. |

APB: Reloaded: Open Beta Goes On Temporary Hold
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/19/11 9:51:07 PM
Also the people who are claiming the game is failing because there's a bug in closed beta. Not only that, if there are any problems with the game in Open Beta, they will immediately assume they will never get fixed and treat the game like a failed release. I'd rather they delay Open Beta than open with a crash bug. I'd really hate restarting the client every hour. |

Guild Wars 2: Arena.Net Reveals the Engineer
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/19/11 7:48:30 PM
*starts playing guitar* Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer, that means I solve problems. Not problems like "how to make gold?" because that would fall under the pervue of the conundrums of being a noob. I solve practical problems. For instance, how am I gonna stop some big mean Charr from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer, use a gun. And if that don't work, use more gun. Like this heavy tripod mounted little ol' number designed by me. Built by me. And you best hope it's not pointed at you. |
