I have never had the game crash on me before today, so I'm guessing it's the patch. Crashed when I tried to log off. Cntrl+alt+del to task manager worked for me......

WAR falls short of awsome for me.  I'd say its good. Better than pretty good, but not as good as great. Solid I guess.  Not spectacular mind you, but fun. Yea......

I felt the need to comment on all  the responses to this post. They were mostly all excellent and accurate, which is rarely the case.

I like WAR, but, it is really linear for an mmo.

I like WAR, and enjoy logging in to play.  That being said, the OP is right on most points.... I'll prolly play WAR till AION comes out.

This is the best idea I've heard yet to fix the open rvr "problem".  If there was more to do in the overland/open rvr area's than actual open rvr, people wud prolly get together and do pug rvr.  At the least it would give people an excuse to check out the area who may have NOT otherwis checked it out.  It could bring in some pve'ers who are a lil bit intimidated by the prospect of open rvr... It makes open rvr more accesable in general..Hell, I'd go.

I've been playing about 25 hours or so a week. Currently level 28 and I'm looking for a guild for pve/pvp/rvr.

I've played clerics in the past, both in eq, eqII, and vanguard. Played a pally in  wow and a weapon smith in swg.  I've played some other mmo's too, like Shadowbane (cleric again) and eve.

If your guild is interested, and has a web site, send me a /tell.

I don't have a complete grasp on the details of making a video game, but I do think I have some idea.

MMO's are SO complex that, financially and technically, it seems impossible to wait for release for one to be totally finished. If a company were to wait till an mmo was totally bug free, and totally filled w/ all the intended content, they would never be made in the first place. It takes years to make an mmo, more time  than other games it seems. Some of the game features must be fixed and others added after the fact. WAR is no different, and, has been better than most at launch.

I guess we have to live with it if we want to continue to play mmo's.
 

I'm not tired of WAR.

Vanguard is a good game.  If they have fixed most of the bugs, it may even be a great game. I played Vanguard for the first 8months. If you are a fan of EQ, you will love VG. It's everything EQ2 should have been.

I am glad to hear they did not "nerf" scenario's. I think it would be a mistake to punish people who like them. 

I am also glad to hear that they up't (is that a word?) the open world rvr. That was the way to go to promote it. Now people who are looking for the fastest way to level will have less of an argument to go grind the scenarios.

WAR has a lot to offer. It seems the developers are on the right track to making all of it worth (yea, I know it's just a video game) doing.

Primetime(now) Warhammer has over half of their servers at low/low or low/med and the number of servers at high/high has dropped considerably since the first week.

The reason why Animal Crossings sold more than Warhammer is because AC is for the average casual Wii gamer and  30 million Wii's have been sold and alot of console games outsell MMORPG's anyways. Most of the MMORPG population is playing WoW right now Id say, and War is a PvP game so its interests an even lower amount of people.

 

I for one quit WoW for this game and Im glad and Im still playing after the free month.  So what if this game can't compete with WoW I never expected it to. We are weeding out all the douches and crybabies that complain about ever little thing.

I'm afriad "douches" does not carry the same weight as "douchebag", but good try.

I'm in the Q for scenario a lot. That having been said, I decline to join a lot too. Basically, if I'm between quests, or on my way somewhere, I join the Q.  If I'm in the middle of something when it comes up, I decline. 

I like the option of the scenario, but I'm not tethered to it.

I understand if you tell me open wrold RvR has better exp and r exp.  But, if you're not in a guild or don't have a group you roll w/ regularly, it's easier to just Q up a scenario. A scenario has better exp and some r exp than pve.  There's your answer.

This whole business about having to wait for a product you pay for being unaceptable is a LOAD OF BS!

Even a pro has to take time to put a condom on you bfore you get serviced.  Ever try calling your cable company to get service upgraded? Or, how about your credit card co?! Not only do you have to wade through computer phone bs before you get to talk to a human, that human you get to talk to barely speaks your language.

Waiting 10-15min to play an otherwise pretty damn good mmo......I think maybe you should grow up and stop playing games.

My most epic battle so far was w/ my wife this weekend. 

1.  She had friends in town and wanted me to watch my daughter  and one of her friends kids.

2.  I, ofcourse, wanted to play WAR!!!! 

3.  So, after finally loosing wife agro after a short battle of wits and shouting, I put the kids infront of the T,V. and played for a whopping 11 hours.....

4.  The kids fell asleep infront of the T.V., and slept through till morn.
