Another short and sweet one, all by my lonesome! :) Everyone else is off in other lands right now conquering the Monsters of Study, Moving, and Work. Next time should be back to the same ole' bunch of goofness. I talk bout the new gambling wheels, some about the cool event of Merging and a lil bout my character. Below are the links I talk about. The only music not owned by Gameforge is the song in the middle, it's "Waiting for the Night" by Depeche Mode, from their only good album, "Violator". :) Here are some screenies of the prizes you can win on the Wheel: Ladle Yubo Shield of Prestige Very cool looking! See ya in game! Beau |

They are large, so beware if you have a wussy connection. The first two are attempts at making a movie using only the Ryzom ring.
It came out pretty good, minus all the editing and camera errors. Oh well, they'll get better, if I make more. The Ring is awesome for movies. If you had a few players to act as actors, you could do almost anything. http://www.beauturkey.com/ryzom/ryz1.wmv http://www.beauturkey.com/ryzom/ryz2.wmv Let me know if you see anything crazy, I did a lot of versions of them and hopefully i uploaded the right ones. The next is some footage from The Merging event..where players from another server were welcomed at a ceremony. ...so I filmed a BUNCH. Thing was, I wanted the screen to be big enough so that people could read what was on my screen, so they could see the whole speech and all that. I record at half size though, although since I use the highest rez it's too small. Or something like that... in other words you cant read the chat. So, I decided to go the smaller/basic approach. I typed up some key parts from the speech and some nice shots of everyone sitting around having fun. And of course, the fireworks. They were magical. Thanks again for a great event guys! http://www.beauturkey.com/ryzom/merger.wmv Enjoy! Beau |

I'm back for a quick podcast, talking bout some dapper sinks, some other MMO's, and more bout how moving sucks.
Jenna saves this podcast with her awesome segment, as usual. If you have questions, or opinions, PLEASE email them to me at beau@beauturkey.com. Mad Sam is AFK for this week, due to some RL stuff, and Leala is still painting and deciding where the kitty litter boxes go. Soon, next week I hope, all is back to normal. No, this is NOT podfade. This is simply me moving. SO NYAH. Love, peace, and Yubos. www.ryzomradio.com Beau |

We're back after a week off, and what a week it has been!
First off, me and the wife have been moving into a new home slowly so we have been way too busy to play or record for any significant amount of time. I did finally find an hour to record with Sam though, but when I caught him it was about 1 AM Germany time! In this 'cast I give a basic rundown of the "Stranger" event that happened on the Arispotle server recently, I also get an interview with everyone's favorite PvP'er (and lord of Atys and all sorts of other titles) SunCe! He's frank, and forgets to watch his cursewords, so cover your ears or ask your kids to leave the room. Another lovely segment from Jenna, and some fun allergy-ridden conversation with Sam! It's so good to be back! I missed all of you! www.ryzomradio.com Beau |

I edited the film footage I got while editing the next podcast:
Not ALL of it, granted, I have a TON, and a bunch of screenshots that I will post soon. But, this is what I have, roughly edited with killer music from Anattis band, Kumiss. (www.kumissband.com) The first part is long, and pretty high quality, so it might take a while to stream. It shows some takes from the PvP/Arena event. The second one shows the Noobie Homin race (which I qualified for!) and is shorter, and the music is, of course, the Rocky theme! Anyway, enjoy! ..Jenna needs time to write brilliant segments..Sam needs time to convince Beau to log onto Skype for a damn minute, Leala needs to hurry up and choose the new kitchen colors, Beau needs to find an ounce of time between painting giant kids murals or rainforests and beaches and moving into a new house and going ape crazy on yard work, so that he can actually A) Play a lot more, B) Talk to Sam about all these cool new happenings and C) Get his notes together about the "Strangers".
Back next week, I promise. Thanks to guys like Maya for sending in cool segments to use on the next one. Keep 'em coming community! Beau www.ryzomradio.com |

OMG! Long podcasts are SO in vogue right now! PLEASE forgive us for jabbering SO much this week that we filled up almost..(gulp) 2 HOURS! But it'll make you laugh, fer crissakes. Next week we are going on a diet and will get it back down to an hour. Ish. Promise. So Sam is back this week, which rules. I missed my German friend. We talk about my gripefest and all sorts of stuff. Me and the wife have some fun chatting about what we did this week in game, and we try to keep it together, without laughing and breaking out into songs about our cats. Another awesome segment from Jenna (she's the best thing ever), and some AWESOME music from player Anatti and his band Kumiss. Find them at www.kumissband.com , and thanks to those guys for loaning me their tunes. See you in game! "A Day in the Life" So I cover quite a few things on this LONG podcast ( an hour and a HALF), including information about the music I play, a call from Mayadanava (his ideas are great as always) and with Jenna's segment on names in Roleplay. Once again, she is much more professional than I ever could be! :) I was going to do the show without Sam, (he had technical issues) but today he popped up and said he could do it. I was a little unprepared, so I got a drink and logged and and we had fun. For quite a while..I edited a LOT of it out! haha! It shows how we play though, and how we talk about things. I would like to eventually have a many guest play session, to just hang out and talk about Ryzom. One of my many many ideas for the future. Ok so here's this week's music details: Intro Song ( as usual) is the Tryker character creation music. Download it from www.ryzom.com 2nd Song: Wes Burdine and the Librarians "A Postcard from John Lennon" 3rd Song: Lily Allen "Knock 'em Out" from the album "Alright Still" 4th Song: Bloc Party" for info click HERE 5th Song: For info click HERE 6th Song: Bloc Party again, for info click HERE 7Th Song: Oops, so I played THIS one again. So there ya go. Enjoy and see ya in game! PS: The game shoutouts I had planned will have to be put in next week. Sorry guys, you know who you are! Beau |

Audio issues, bleh. I've had a big chunk of 'em lately. First, I have new equipment (new sound card, better PC) that I am going to start using, which will help get rid of clicks and skips due to my older sound card being weak. Yay! Time to spend a lot more money! This week we have the fastest forum run -thru than ever. Also, I talk a bit about the Ryzom Ring, the greatest thing ever, despite what people are saying or have said about issues with hosting or XP. Next time you're in game, load the editor and start playing with it, trust me you'll get hooked. Then I play a new segment from Jenna about Roleplay. She will be covering it for her segment every week. Thanks so much to her! She does her research and has a nice voice. I wonder when we'll start getting emails. Then me and Sam jump into a silly, poorly recorded fun conversation. To be honest, when me and Sam record, my lil voice recorder for Skype records onto two seperate tracks, so that I can adjust me and Sam's voice accordingly, which I often have to do. This time I forget to set the lil button to "record two seperate tracks", so you have us both on one track, and I'm very quiet. I did some mixing on it, and even got in by hand and upped some segments of myself. Oh well, it's still really funny. I have cut our conversation to about 20 minutes, and I'll be editing the rest and placing it on a show on Ryzom Radio called "Uncensored Ryzom". Basically, it'll be a show where we can talk freely 'bout Ryzom, cursewords and all. Ok, I think I covered it all. Please email me at beau@beauturkey.com or call the Ryzom line at 1-972-646-3386 and leave me a segment or a comment. Hate mail is fun. Beau |

Hey hey Atys! It's time for a short, but sweet podcast! I'm missing Sam this week but I decided to throw back a few and go for it. Work has been sucking all my time (including valuable play time) so I put this one out a little late again.
Originally I was going to talk about resistances (thanks to Owagwyn for the idea) but I have not had time to collect everything I wanted to make a great subject. I am planning on doing it really soon, though. So I ran through some manuals and found some things that I have either had explained to me and forgotten or that I never knew of. I am calling this podcast the "Tidbit Show", named for the list of juicy tidbits of info I have found. Noobs might really be interested in this, and if you are NOT new, then sit back and laugh at me and go "gawl, what a NOOB." Also, a word about my new experiment: Ryzom Radio! While it has already been done by Sam and some of his friends, this is my attempt at making basically a "podcast channel", with music and information always streaming. I will have "Sets" of music, each themed for one of the four major schools: Magic (kinda ethereal music), fighting (metal, of course), digging (soft music that you can sit back and dig with), and crafting (upbeat music). you can find the station here: http://www.live365.com/stations/ryzomradio !! I do not wish to compete at all with the other radio stations out there, but intend on having my staton as a yet larger community board than my podcast provides. Also with the station, I can have tons more programming, like longer chats with Sam about all things Ryzom, and can play things like a Roleplay reading or player submitted music or stories. This is very exciting for me, and if money holds tight I can keep this up. SO email me at beau@beauturkey.com and let me know what you think or call the Ryzom line at ![]() ![]() Thanks for all your support! Yes, there is Pvp. There are duels, Op (outpost ) fights between lots and lots of people, and areas that place you in PvP mode. While it is ALOT of fun, and is a very vibrant part of the community, you can easily go between the worlds of PvP and non-PvP if you'd like. Download the trial and have some fun. My main's name is Beau on the Arispotle server.

They didn't get rid of the support staff, the new company did not go with Jolt, and the old CSR's were part of Jolt. They now have CSR's back in game, and they are as good as before.
There are still a few issues, but GameForge has implemented some changes already, and from what I know plan on implementing a lot more. Try it again, you won't be disappointed. |

Yeh I'm up to episode 9, and trust me the audio issues have been getting much much better hehe..so give it a second try..

Yes, Ryzom is going strong and is cooler then ever. The community is so strong, and is always on and willing to help.
I have read a lot of speculation about the switchover from Nevrax to Gameforge, and I can tell you it is indeed speculation. I know for a fact that GF runs browser games in several countries, and is also beginning to ramp up advertising for the game. Anytime you have a switchover with companies there is a period of adjustment. MMO players cam be a fickle bunch, and some arewilling to jump on any bandwagon before even verifying rumors or before just trying it our for themselves. IS Ryzom for everyone? No, of course not. But look at some of the reviews on this site for WoW. It is hands down one of the most popular and profitable MMO out there, and everyone will have to admit that it has changed the face of the industry. But according to some on this site, it is the worst game ever. And they say this after they "got tired of playing for two years". Ryzom is not just some other game. It has unique gameplay, a unique character skills system (practically bottomless) and the community is TOP NOTCH. Roleplay is fantastic. I will be honest, I was never down with roleplay until this game. Do things need to be fixed that we hope GF will fix? Of course. No one is saying the opposite. But if you take the time with Ryzom, and get to know the players, and the community, and don't worry just about "leet loot" or the next highest level, or only in killing other players in PvP (although it does have great PvP) then you will love Ryzom. go listen to my podcast. I volunteer my time to do it, and I have such a blast doing it, and have seen a side of MMO's I have never seen before. Usually I just jump in and get bored with the scenery in a few months. But with Ryzom, the scenery changes, the mobs migrate and the weather changes. It feels like a living planet, indeed. World of Warcraft: Editorial: Up and Down of End Game
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/11/06 12:53:19 AM
I am not by any means a "casual" player, I play a lot...I enjoy many online games. I know as much as the next guy. Me and my wife have been playing games like WoW since Ultima. All I know is that if the game puts out a super duper ultimate piece of equipment or some super duper uber luber mob to kill, some people will NOT stop till it's thiers. I do not knock them for that. But I DO know a lot of those people, those people that leave the guild your in to go off and do more wonderful things..and those people are different creatures than me. While they have fun going after these lofty, time comsuming goals, I enjoy logging on, winging it, discovering things a little at a time. I'm not one of those guys that goes and looks for every screen shot of the new expansion till he knows it back and forth before it comes out. I actually like the feeling of discovery more than the feeling of being number one.
Sorry if this is off point, but I see so many discussions about "hardcore gamers" or "endgame players". I will go ahead and bet that MOST players, before WoW and after, will not be these "hardcore players". And after all, I duel these hardcore guys ALL the time, in their massive gear, and win. (The stats are NOT that big of a difference!)Sorry, had to throw that in there. |

World of Warcraft: Editorial: Two Casual Years Later
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/18/06 7:06:09 AM
Basically you are one of three types of player:
1) Casual....this means that you log in once in a while, a few times a week. You play with some friends, you go exploring. You screw around near the bank, and have fun most of the time. 2) Mid-level: You can screw around and try on dresses and be silly, but you can easily jump into a dungeon and you have a few pieces of fancy armor. Both one and two do not play these games JUST to get the best stuff, they play to have fun, to be social, and to sometimes get obsessed. 3) Nuts: This type is the guy that has his full sets of nice armor, the uber sword, and the guy that constantly yells at the rest of the players in the BG that they are all "a bunch of f'in noobs" Don't get me wrong, I have met tons of these guys that are really cool people, that are very friendly and very forgiving to those of us that are there to have fun and not just to collect. My own brother has 7 lvl 60's now, but he still can sit down and goof off with me and my wife in the AH. You know what type you are. And the point made by the poster above is valid: whay make fun of a game and talk about how horrible it was after you played it for a year? What happens to players like that is that they rush and rush till the end and then grit thier teeth in frustration when the entire group they are in is full of players like them. And please do not compare most MMO's to WoW. It works well, feels nice, flows well, has a fun story, and nice controls. There is a reason that a lot of MMO's are taking cues from WoW now. There are only a few real good games out there, like Eve, but that number can be counted on one hand. I have played around 40 games, was paying for 6 at one time, and WoW is one of the best. If you are mad because you spend all night trying to get a group, then I say to you that WoW is about the easiest game to find groups in, and will only get easier. The players that are affected the most by the lack of a good group are those guys that only want to raid and raid and raid, so that they can get that super cool piece of armor. Try finding a group in FFXI, or in EQ2...you'll see. |
