General: 10 Misconceptions, Two Opinions, Part 1
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/02/10 12:29:21 PM
Thanks again, Richard! Speaking for myself (although Richard could probably back me up on this) I can say that these 5 points (10 in total when my column comes out) represent what I have heard for a long, long time concerning FTP games. It was fun to see how we answered the questions, and very insightful for me to hear from one of my favorite writers!

How Do You Feel About Having To "Buy" Zones In MMOs?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/07/10 8:54:31 PM
So somehow paying 50 dollars for a box and 15 dollars a month, AS WELL AS 50 bucks for an expansion does NOT count as "buying zones?" Yeh, that makes sense. Just because the OP seems to think that paying for all that doesn't count does not mean that it doesn't. I love how many F2P enemies seem to think that paying for extra lands, character slots or new quests do not count as the same thing as buying something out of a cash shop. There is absolutely no difference, save for packaging. Beau |

Correct me if I am wrong, but you uhm....type...as though you are not even 18. One of the reasons for the credit card drive is (possibly) to stop children from playing this game, which they should.

Oh, here's the link if you wanna' know. (Not saying I sue it, but he did ask.) http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=channel&channelID=544711 You buy the time code from CCP, and sell the game time to another player. RMT WOOT!

Of course you can solo in EVE. I spent the last 5 years (July of 04) doing it. No game (even FFXI! lol) is impossible without a group. Is it harder? Sure. Also, all you have to do is buy your money, that's it. I know people that bought hundreds of millions, with their real life money. It's allowed by the game and if that ain't easy enough for you, I don't know what is.

Fallen Earth: Former Players Invited Back for 10 Days Free
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/21/10 10:59:26 PM
I had the same issue with the play now button. If you had an ACTIVE sub within the LAST 60 DAYS (they forgot to tell this) you cannot return. Only if you have an account that was inactive for AT LEAST the last 60 days. When I contacted them about it, they soon after made a forum post that said this. I asked them to give the time anyway, being that in the email there is absolutely no mention of the 60 days. They decided that the information, placed in a forum post after the fact, was enough. If you got the email..read it..no mention of account age at all. Oh well, time for them to act like a real developer I guess! hehe I kid.

Atlantica Online: Child's Play Withdraws from Fundraising Event
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/30/09 8:07:17 PM
Originally posted by Thanosxp Exactly! If you want to complain, just troll around in the official forum. Since when people started to worry about the complaints being effective? Holy.. What's next? Someone see a crime and instead of talking to the bad guy,he calls THE COPS? Just absurd =[ Let me re-state what I have said: If you emailed Child's Play to gripe, complain bitch or moan about the small amount (5 percent) that the charity would receive, then you need to have your head examined. This is not about someone writing Childs Play to go "Hey, you know, I think that you are not getting a fair shake.." this is about several members of the community writing emails griping, bitching and moaning about, more than likely, the contents or price of the item and the small (by their standards) percentage. Oh well, what else would you expect from a community of angry white male youth?

It doesn't matter if you thought that 5 percent was a piddly amount: if you complained directly to Childs Play, you are a sack of absolute shit.

I recently started playing Fusion Fall more than ever, and decided to film a little vidcast within game. I show you some real basics, but keep in mind that there is so much more to the game! Enjoy, and comment away! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1hyUMUNqjw Beau

General: Richard Aihoshi: FreeStyle & GSTAR
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/29/09 7:58:53 AM
I never got to try FreeStyle. I wonder how many games don't make it over here, simply because the NA audience seems to never step outside their 1 or 2 main games anymore, while at the same time blogging and podcasting about the lack of originality or creativity. Oh well, they'll see it soon enough, I hope.

Which style of lightsaber wielding do you prefer and why?
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 8/14/09 7:47:05 AM
Cool idea for a poll! Normally, I'm just an average Star Wars fan. I don't camp out for the movies and stuff. But this new game has got me pretty excited! I went classic too, pretty much for the reasons you stated.

So, unless I missed something, he plays the game for enough time to reach max level and to get really involved with the game, quits for a year and then comes back to say it's boring? Yet, he gives it a 6.8. Say what you want, but obviously this guy loved this game for a long time. Isn't boredom after such a career expected? Didn;t he not only get his money's worth, but a helluva lot more? Nah, let's just blame the NGE.

Ever wonder if people posting here for SOE receive any perks?

Either way, pay attention to who is talking to you and you'll come out shinier next time. Now let's let this thread go slowly away, like it was meant to.

SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 8/11/09 12:19:51 AM
Alright, fine. Some of you think there is some kind of rule that says that a game company cannot give out anything to any fan unless all items are divulged to everyone. Ok, so I am telling you that you will never know. Take the people to court, I guess. My guess is that you will drop it and move on. After all, what are you trying to prove, anyway? That a gaming company might give out a free account or poster once in a while? Wow. Breaking news. Again, understand that no one cares to divulge anything to anyone, and doesn't have to. I am not trying to sound like a jerk, but c'mon...this is actually being discussed as if anything would become of it? lol

I would say to the OP: it's no one's business what gamers receive or do not receive from ANY company, for whatever reason. If you think that they are getting free junk, go sign up and get some. Otherwise, this is not a government run building, and no one has to say anything about any company. I, myself have been called a paid shill many times. The funniest part? I don't care if people think that, as if I or any other blogger, podcaster or fan needs to answer to anyone but themselves. Beau

Ether Saga Online: Ether Saga Online Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/10/09 11:54:52 AM
Pretty much agree with the review, although I would say that understanding that some of the simple things in the game are for the benefit of a younger audience. Also, the click to move or click-to-go-to-quest auto run thing isn't forced in any way, and is a good option for those with limited abilities to play. It's a fun, casual, pretty game. Pretty much what the review said.

I posted about this a while ago. If you play as a pet, players cannot ride you I don't believe. lol I cant believe I just typed that. But, pets can be killed, named, they fight or heal and carry items. The pet system is AWESOME. And the skill system is too. Give it another try, the game will hook you I promise. The graphics grow nicer over time.
