thanks "superniceguy" for mentioning that SWG is open to returning vets to try out again.
i hopped on, tried it out for a few mins. logged off.
i'd like to make a suggestion. i've always been a believer that the pen is a mighty instrument. or keyboard in this case. if you have some constructive thoughts about what SOE should do, should have done, in regards to SWG--the game we all loved, then why not use the free trial to log into the forums and make a CONSTRUCTIVE post about that.
would be a chance for SOE (whoever is left there) to see that so many folks still really do care about preNGE and have strong feelings about it. the only way that a mistake will never be made like that again is for our voices to be heard. if you even write your thoughts with some detail and thoughtfulness, the devs might not dismiss them.
i'm not saying it would cause any rift in the space time continuum but some future game-honcho could be reading or a current game honcho. you never know. don't let this issue die!
just a thought. i already left my note on the Gameplay Discussion forums over there.

nope. dont know you and started mid July 2003.
at any rate, back to my topic. i'm looking for the names of any large-scale crafters from the early days of preCU / NGE Kauri.
anyone? |

hrmmm you don't seem familiar, who exactly were you?
i had Nomaa and Anor and Kristee on Kauri. |

I'm looking for the names and professions of any older well-known former vets from Kauri.
the thing that was interesting about SWG servers was that you could become well-known in the economy and your profession.
Can any former Kauri players reply to this thread with names and profs of the well-known folks they remember? i.e. Jeli - Weaponsmith Sushi - Weaponsmith etc. etc.
thanks! |

Question for those who played at release (Jedi)
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 5/14/08 3:55:01 AM
the original jedi profession seemed like a whole different game entirely. after grinding about 11 or 12 professions i opened my jedi slot on 1-1-04. after grinding out image designer i got a message like "you feel a surge in the force....etc etc". What happened was, you needed to have 1 free toon slot on your startup screen. then you would log in to see your jedi slot on your galaxy. Meaning, your original toon was there that you did all the work with, but the jedi toon was a 2nd free slot on that galaxy that had only 1 profession: jedi.
you logged in (the screen had its own unique "jedi" coloring scheme and art) and basically you started out as a total noobie. you were told where to go to talk to your trainer--your trainer was an NPC that was also serving as another trainer--i think mine was a "scout" trainer NPC in coronet at first. you just ground out xp on a pretty unique skill tree by doing combat, hunting groups, etc. as you progressed you became pretty powerful. lots of bonuses to dodge, lots of armor, lots of mana/force bar type increases. when you made your lightsaber it ate up the pearls and crystals as part of the creation process. one thing i was stupid about and i didn't know at the time was that you could grind out jedi by making the jedi crystals with gemstone and something else. a few people caught on to that and levelled up really fast. those were the jedi that could take out a group of 10-15 people by themselves. only thing that was really scary was that 3 deaths and you were out. meaning, your toon started all over. i went thru a few toons. they changed it later so there was a cooldown on that, like 3 deaths in X days and it would reset. then they later changed it to an xp loss instead. probably was a better idea, i dunno. anyhow, original jedi skills were really great and it was fun to play and when people saw you that early on as a jedi toon they got really excited. even if you were i think still in the padawan phase, you could take down 3 bounty hunters if they didn't really know what they were doing. it really felt like a jedi out of the movies. the funniest thing ingame to me was the ingenuity of bounty hunters. they couldn't track you with droids or really have any way of finding you but the system did tell them your name. they would try all kinds of desperate things to find you. they would message you and say like "hey dude i have some extra premium krayt pearls, wanna meet, i'll sell them to you cheap, i just need the cash to buy a holo" etc etc LOL i'm sure somebody fell for those types of things, not me though. later i would become frustrated with jedi and permadeath so i created an account for my sister and levelled up a bounty hunter hybrid for her. her name was kristee. she was nasty and my sister became a pretty decent BH. nothing like going after jedi and causing them xp loss when your own jedi became a walking bullseye. good times.

Future Star Wars mmorpg.."Clone Wars" or "KOTOR 3 Online"?
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 5/13/08 8:12:07 AM
I think all the signs (the few that have been out there) point to Bioware working on a Clone Wars type MMO. The reason i say this is because:
1- there have been some postings of some materials that someone retrieved from the Bioware dumpster in Austin 2- Clone Wars is due out in theaters in August 2008. Seems like whatever they have been working on in Austin for 2 years now definitely has their heads down, working towards a goal 3- if it were KOTOR, there is really no reason that they wouldnt take advantage of their enormous previous success with this intellectual property and plug the heck out of it, building up the hype 4- LucasArts is leasing StreamBase complex event processing for whatever they are cooking with BioWare. LA Is notorious for all the movie tie-ins to products, video games, etc and the two big things on the horizon at the end of this year are 1- Indy 4 and 2- Clone Wars in theaters.
my money is on Clone Wars MMO. if it's not announced within the next 60-90 days, it's gotta be something else, as the theatrical release is just around the corner. |

How long does it take to max level in SWG nowadays?
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 3/30/08 5:58:15 PM
if you can find a populated serve (bloodfin comes to mind) it will take you about 2-3 days and can be done AFK. you just need to get to level 10 near mos eisley or on the noob tansarri station then you can get a pet and do the rest with beastmaster expertise. if you need help and make a toon on bloodfin, PM me here and 'll get onlne and hook you up. i dont play all that much , but will hop on.
