I am thinking of resubbing but i sold my account ages ago.

So is it a good time to jump in with a new account and everything? Money is not a problem here. Should I just wait for the expansion instead? Are there any new servers coming?

I think you should re evaluate why you quit in the first place, to save you alot of money and heart ache.

He obviously did.. i've quit WoW 10.. 15 maybe 20 times myself.. geez thats alot of accounts >.>

Yeah i did that abit, then i realized:

Leveling is so fast its like taking an elevator to cap.
Then you proceed to grind tokens for shiny gear.

Didn't used to be like this, but this is the goal of the game now.

this is the goal of every mmo , hows else you keep players subbedif there is no repeat factor. i know new things needs to be invented and im sure there is plenty ideas what to do instead but somehows its not so easy way since none have done it yet, upcoming mmos like gw2 maybe one to change it due the real vs realm endgame based system but its remains to be seen. the key thing in this GRIND is " do you like it? " its the one thing that matters, the grind is everywhere you only chose wich one you like the most ;)

I'm sorry, but exactly how many MMOs out there are difficult sub level 25?  Even the most hardcore games out there tend to take it pretty easy on you the first couple dozen of levels.  Even Vanguard does this.  Once you get a toon into his 30's, the difficulty of combat gets harder exponentially.

Difference is I died in Vanguard lots of times in early levels and never died in SWTOR until I came across this main NPC at level 30 which was part of my class story mission.

i no longer playt swtor i quit before free month was over due everything what was wrong in my point of view.

and i have to say to this reply, vanguard been one of the hardest mmo ive tried ever.

I won't be touching this one as everything about it cries console port.

also i feel you, console porting and companies money greediness and making things easy and fast yet world demands it is wrong and disgusting.

Although I did love Crysis, Crysis: Warhead and Crysis 2 calling anything about them "Sandbox" is a serious stretch. Everything from character development to the level design itself was about as linear "Themepark" as you can get. I don't expect anything different from Crysis 3.

Bren

I agree, never understood why they call it a sandbox. Something like the far cry series is essentially a sandbox shooter but crysis...far from it.

agree with you both and yet again the whole idead going invisble with nanosuit is and was when played far from what i like.

dont get me wrong game is pretty and engine is awesome, just should do something different with it than nanosuitman running in linear jungle killing dudes invisibly.

Hahaha this is hilarious! People apologizing for Funcom ahead of the release.

Maybe all funcom game launches were disasters but generalizing this to all MMOs is wrong.

I'd like someone to name one MMO that didn't have at least one of the problems in the OP.  Would what he said be an exaggeration of sorts in regard to certain individual games? yes, but overall the entire post was correct. And good advice for those expecting that perfect game they always seem to be looking for. It's quite simple really if you can't handle the stuff the op said, don't play MMO's at launch.

I doubt I will play TSW at this point, it doesn't seem to be an overall game I'd enjoy even though I do have an interest in the setting.

That said, at this point those who cry foul over the stuff mentioned in the OP should be shunned from forums IMO. I am sick and tired of forums blowing up over this stuff for 3-6 months at a time over and over and over again. Especially considering who's making ths game, their track record is well known, so well known I have no need of explaining the point. IF you're willing to give them your money that's on you.

this is true all mmos have grumpy launch but i do remember one launch there wasnt that much faults and it was rift.

I like your analogies of Zippy and Derp lol. Goodstuff!!!

same here . good analyzing. thumbs up.

you have all the right to say your opinion and i for one agree with you. and share the same feeling but already before one month was over and im not ever gona return, yes bought the mmo game that served me few weeks but thats the same story with every single player game out there todays market anyway from 8 hours to few days to complete.

Why would you bother? Because you enjoy it?

PRECISELY!  Its a game!  Play it for fun!!?? NOT uber gear!!??

idd, there are few mmos out there including the most subbed one where you can run endlessly for UBER gear. so not every game needs to use same format of end game and im happy when finally someone is doing it differently.

I'm sorry but I'm glad orcs aren't playable in Lord of the Rings Online. That would destroy the lore and what Lord of the Rings is even about. Orcs in the Lord of the Rings are the bad guys. I wouldn't have it any other way.

and you simply are lost, orcs can be bad guys yeah but controlled and leveled same way as free people characters controlled by human player things would been totally different.

The way LOTRO is made, yes.

For you to be able to play orcs they would have to let people play the "other" side as well. That would be a hugerevamp of the game.¨

Besides, "red is faster"...

im glad someone agrees with me atleast, back in the days when lotro cmae i oviously as huge fan ordered it and was excited about playing it didint read much about how it plays just wanted to login and see myself and whne ORCS or any evil side characters wasnt playable like for example HORDE vs ALLIANCE style i was gutted.

so yet again we set up playing against ai army . wheres the fun in that.

as Loke says huge revamp it would been huge success to the wholegame.

You could take 2 players, put them in the same class, same gear, and same ability set, and the loser will still find a way to complain.
He uses macros, my wireless has lag, he's on FIOS I'm on Comcast, etc.
The issue isn't so much as balance of fairness, the issue is more that humans lack the ability to own their own shortcomings.
You see it in real world applications all the time. My boss fired me because he is X. Nevermind that I was no call no show 3 days in a row.

this is true , and talking about games only loser demands balance. when you lose you demand something cause you lost.

you wanna win and whining something to make it happen makes you feel better or thats how the loser believes.

i would say no to balance some classes just do more damage and its understandable. other are good in some other areas then.

when everybody needs to have stuns, heals, major dps, major armors and hitpoints uniqueness is nothing anymore.

basicly we would only need one class then.

example i liked the fact from world of warcraft when horde had shaman and alliance had paladin. so chosing to play as shaman and horde made you somewhat unique against alliance players. and visa versa.

in older days, being good raider meant few things, usually whole server knew you, you had bit more respect and new players looked up to you

it was never actually about gear, not for raider than enoyed raiding anyway, we needed gear so we can raid next tier, we didnt pvp much, apart when someone decided to take you on ( which there werent many because you were somewhat famous and usually better geared)

it was more about being exlusive and famous, that gear was just cosmetic +500 respect +500 anti pvp gank protection

now all that changed, everyone have raid gear, people barely know anyone on server , because of mass tranasfers and so on

and because when there is 50 skilled players which you can easily seprate , and when there is 500 in same gear, its far more complicated

maybe if it was cosmetic it would go back to its root, only raiders ( good ones ) that enjoyed raiding would have it,  and that would make it more vip like, thought not sure about respect , everyone would just despise you because you are supposedly " no lifer " even if you work 10+ hours a day and play 1-2 hours a day..

The 'everyone has raid gear' is actually a success from a game designer point of view.

5% of the playerbase saw Naxx in WoW-Vanilla.

How much money/staff was put into that content? And then only to be seen by 5% of the playerbase? That's a failure.

Trying to stop people from experiencing the content makes no sense from a game designer point of view.

If I make something, why the heck would I want people to NOT see it?

agreed with this one. cosmetic rewars on where the game is focused realm vs realm.

i only say one thing, fantasy can be anything and with anything, until you pick a era or time where you are going to plant it, otherwise there is no rules and you either accept that fact or not not.

i do understand your views about diving helmets and tractors versus swords. but thats just how they build their own fantasy world.

im not a hater but i agree with this honeymoon theory 100%

i agree that the sky is blue.

its a well known and commonly accepted phenomena that things you are crazy about initially usually fade with time.  its true of just about everything in life.

don't think anybody is making any big deal about that one statement.

anyone? hehe you said that until you got arrow in the knee. mostly players are fairly young and this honeymoon theory is beyond them. so it is indeed true within a month majority games collapse cause of this theory.

cheeeerioooo!!!

So the one thing more we need is offline gear progression, every 6 hours You get new piece of equipement, and as a bonus, every 30 minutes You have 33% chance to get a PvP kill on random player.

Could even push it further and every 24 hours You get a low tier achievement, every week a mid-tier one and every month a raid boss kill achievement. Aw yeah. I think we just invented perfect game for big part of forum people.

yes and also there should be an option you could enable that the game itself equips it on your character automaticly ofc ifits better than what you had, also as botting software im sure there is one outthere what allows you to pvp without you actually playing in other words OFFLINE!

It's called the Honeymoon period of a game. It's nothing new, you will eventually get over it when the next big hyped game comes out.

Haters gunna hate, your post history shows a trail of loathing for TERA, which you never really back up with any evidence you merely build straw mans and derail threads. Your opinion has been made worthless by your own doing

Then let the hater's hate, you will only be adding fuel to the fire. besides at least on this post of his i dont really see him saying anything directly bad about it.

im not a hater but i agree with this honeymoon theory 100%
