If you haven't checked out Rift I would check it out...I too have been in the same boat as you for the last 3 years of my MMO life and I can honestly say for the first time in a LONG time that Rift may be the game I've been waiting for since I was never a WoW carebear and Rift isn't for the feint hearted :) |

Well here's my theory. Feel free to test it out.
I wanted to get to the bottom of the mouse lag. If you notice closesly that when the game starts up the lag isn't present at all. Once you are in the world then you start to notice the lag. My theory for the reason for the lag is this. If you go into your ffxivconfig.exe lcoated in the game directory. Locate the Video Settings. Now here's the thing. If you turn the graphics down to bare minimal ( so the game looks like crap then) you'll notice the menu/mouse lag doesn't occur.
Now in my case I have an ATI 5750 Graphics Card and a 6 Core CPU. I turned everything up to MAXIMUM and turned on the Ambient Occulsion and the Depth of Field (Located under the Graphics Tab). Once i did that I then logged into the game and noticed that my UI/Menu/Mouse lag was so unbearable it was crazy. I also noticed that my CPU was utilizing itself A LOT more than any normal game would. So I went in and left everything on max but turned off Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field. Logged back into the game and noticed the lag was gone. I personally think the lag is due to the Hardware limitations from our computers. Note: I have a 6 core CPU and it couldn't handle all the stuff ffxiv was doing in the background. This game is truly a beast of a game. |

Problems with the Patcher? Read This for Resolution!
General Discussion « All Points Bulletin (APB) 6/13/10 10:00:34 PM
I'm sure many of you are aware of the issues with APB's lovely patcher. Not to worry but there is a reasoning behind all the madness. Please keep in mind that if you are running Windows 7 / Vista then you will need to open the Notepad application with Administrator rights or simply save the file on your desktop and copy and paste it over the old one. To fix the slow downloading issue read below:
Go to here: %windir%\System32\drivers\etc
Once there locate the hosts file and double click on it. Next choose to open within Notepad and once it's open take the following information below and copy and paste it at the bottom of the content listed there.
# 64.7.222.130 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 64.74.124.65 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 64.94.126.65 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 66.151.250.65 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 69.88.148.130 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 69.88.152.250 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 74.201.26.2 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 75.98.38.78 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
# 77.242.194.130 rtworlds.http.internapcdn.net
Now once you've pasted the content into the file then UNCOMMENT one of the lines by removing the # sign. Then save the file.
Note: do not uncomment more than 1 at a time as it will confuse your system. Once you uncomment simply relaunch the launcher and see if the download speeds increase. If they don't then go back to the file and recomment the one you uncommented. Then uncomment a different one. Just rise and repeat and you should find one that gives you the most out of your speed.

Also, as far as the HD is concerned. I currently have one of these and I must say that it definately helped with the speed and heat generated inside my case. Right now it runs at about 30 degrees which is significantly lower than my other 2 WD HDs that run on avg at abou 42-45 degrees. I've never owned a SSD HD so i guess I would be a little biased about them but I would say go with the 10,000 RPM since you would pay an arm and a leg for a SSD with at least 300GB |

Splinki,
I too received an email regarding my account being hacked. Just an FYI though if you clicked on the link and followed the instructions then your password is taken for good. I would suggest going to Aions REAL site and changing it asap.
If you note the link that the Fake Email takes you to it's actually redirecting you to a hacking aion account site. Took me a couple seconds to realize it but it also helped that gmail placed it in the spam folder which gave me a red flag to begin with as real Aion Emails don't go to my spam folder. Just a heads up. |

that I could agree with. Glad everything worked out now! |

Ok here's what you need to do.
For the User ID it needs to contain 2 Numbers within the words.
Edit: you could also place the numbers at the end or beginning. |

Hey,
I just tried it in Firefox and it appears to be working ok. When they sent you the email for validation did it log you in automatically? |
|

One thing i would also suggest is separate your LFG channel from everything else and make a separate one. Then you can read the rest of the chat then. |

I too had the same issue so i actually read what the Note stated and it says the feature isn't added yet but will be soon. |

MMOData Charts version 1.6 is live
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/10/09 11:23:54 PM
Nice work Cyberwiz. Definitely love seeing data like this.
As for you soloreuos. I'd think of something witty to counter your ignorant remarks about fraud but then I'd be doing you justice. Ever since you came to MMORPG I've heard a lot of ignorant things come from your mouth and if there were a button to report stupidity I'm sure you'd be at the top of that list. |

So if SE won't give us NA/EU servers, should we decide?
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 7/08/09 9:20:17 PM
I personally think there shouldn't be a need to pick a NA/EU server at all. The more diverse we get amongst all servers the more enjoyable the game will be in the long run. The one thing I valued from playing FFXI as opposed to other games was the fact that we weren't limited to basically play with our own kind. I happened to learn some Japanese while playing in parties with them. That and the Auto-Translate feature which I'm sure is coming in FFXIV makes things much more fun. just my 2 cents ;) |

My new computer parts (let me know what you think)
Hardware « General Discussion 5/30/09 12:40:08 PM
Jallen02,
Comment on the OS. If you haven't been following Windows 7 recently you may just want to scrap the idea of the Vista OS at the moment and just beta test the Win 7 OS.
Even with Beta Win7 you'll find it is much more stable then the Vista OS. That and you can beta test RC1 which is compatible with just about anything out there to date til July 2010. If it turns out you don't like it then you can always roll back to getting that Vista OS.
www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/download.aspx
Check it out. You'll be happy you did. |

Cannot get newly built PC to work, please assist
Hardware « General Discussion 5/30/09 12:26:34 PM
Brif,
Check this out. One thing you want to definately take a look at is make sure that there are 2 POWER connectors for you motherboard. Back then when i built my first motherboard i was having the very same issues you were. I messed around with just about everything and that's when i noticed that the smaller connector on the Motherboard wasn't actually sitting all the way in from my power source. I then took it out and placed it back in and sure enough the everything powered on instantly One thing to also note. If you have the bigger connector of the two seated then you should see the Motherboard light turn on once you apply power to your system. if that does not come on then your guess is probably correct your MB is DOA. if it does come on then your motherboard is just fine. Try the above and let me know what happens. Also, if you could provide me with the motherboard model I could probably explain this so much better. Sorry i'm still new at the terminology but I know my computers like the back of my hand. |

If you know the default password to your router then you will have the password in clear text under the Security Tab of your router. What kind of router do you have? |
