While most floors are randomly generated, some are static and will be the same every time. |

WAR a really fun game.... During Primetime hours.
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/29/09 3:30:36 AM
I was having these same problems early on when they had too many servers and the population was declining. Unless I was playing at 17-24 hours there was hardly anyone online. This has changed a lot, though, as now that I'm on vacation I can log on at 8 AM in the morning and still have scenarios popping instantly and lots of action in the RvR lakes, and see people running around in the PvE areas. It's so important for a social-based game like WAR to have good populations, so it's no wonder they lost a lot of subscribers early on, as the fewer players there were left on your server, the worse the problem became. |

Dev Chat changed the way we look at jumpgate.

Please read one of the devs' post on the official forums - it should soften the blows somewhat, though perhaps not entirely, depending on your expectations of the game: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337544 |

I think name tags everywhere can ruin immersion, but I wouldn't be opposed to displaying the name of whatever target you've locked on to above his name or somewhere else in the UI wherever it's appropriate. |

Beats trolling the other game everywhere. |

I really hope to see Skaven as a playable race in the first expansion *fingers crosses* A Darkness Fall type dungeon would be awesome as well. I hope they'll not increase the level cap. |

Making unique gear for 22 different careers is anything but lazy, to be honest. What's truly lazy is MMOs that recycle the same generic models instead of putting effort into making the various classes unique. Especially sad if we're talking of MMOs with only 10 classes or less. |

I don't think you guys are really looking at the bigger picture here. WAR is hardly the first MMO to have a buggy/broken end-game. Take the insanely successful WoW, for example. The later zones were extremely low on content, and it was quite clear Blizzard ran out of time and rushed th game out before finishing those areas. WoW's end-game, Molten Core, was so broken it was practically impossible to finish. As far as MMOs go, WAR is in pretty good shape, actually. Both with WoW and WAR you could/can still do things surrounding the end-game, just not the climax of it. In WoW you could still do the normal dungeons, and in WAR you can do normal dungeons/oRvR/scenarios. Unfortunately due to massive numbers of players at fortress sieges, the climax of the end-game often can't be reached, and like with Molten Core, this needs to be fixed. If you can't wait for that to happen, no problem - you're free to unsubscribe. Nothing is binding you to play. You are free to wait, play something else, and come back once it's fixed. The truth is, the game's released with an astounding amount of content and what for an MMO passes as a reasonably good state in terms of bugs and such. Seriously, you people are acting as if WAR is the only MMO that's had problems of this kind at launch, while in reality most MMOs have had it much worse, current Lord of MMOs included. |

GOA slacking less, us Euro's actually get a test server

The reason I didn't comment is that neither of us know the retention rate in EU compared to the US, so it's rather silly to start discussing it, not to mention your question was rather vague and cryptic. I agree it would be great to have the needed server transfers implemented faster (I'm gathering this is what you're trying to say), and I'm sure this has caused a loss of some subscribers. I never stated otherwise though, so I'm not sure where you're going with that. |

It's not really far-fetched, it's simply how it is. GOA was insisting on a simultaneous release, and that's why we have it. |

There are MMOs that have released simultaneously. They are few however, as far as I know. WoW, your first example, incidentally released 3 months later in Europe than in the US. US release was November 2004 EU release was February 2005 Quick googling showed me EvE released 3 weeks later in Europe, EQ2 a couple of days. |

I know you like bashing GOA, but here's something to consider: Normally MMOs don't release in Europe until several months after its US release. In this case GOA insisted on a simultaneous release. If it was as with pretty much every other MMO out there, we wouldn't be playing WAR in Europe until next year, but thanks to GOA, we're already playing. As for the test server, I don't really care. It's enough for me that people in the US are testing the new patches. I'm not really into logging on the test server to try out new stuff before I really get it when I can actually play "for real" instead. |

Any chance you could link to some of the postings? Would like to see some examples. |

Originally posted by Ogrelin I was wondering about this too. What I've seen from MJ has only been good. Anyway I think Mythic has done an exemplary job so far, so I can only say my faith has strengthened. One of the best launches in MMO history, relatively low amount of bugs (simliar to WoW's level when it launched) and an impressive amount of content at all tiers, even at end game where pretty much all MMOs usually start running out of things to do. The game continues to get noticeable better as well. All in all a very promising start, and giving how progress is being made, the future is looking bright. |

PvE is surprisingly good in WAR if you ask me, and it's chock-full of group content. You'll probably want to try out some RvR as well, though. |

They opened with way too many servers (about 120), so some of the servers are pretty much "dead". They solved this by allowing players unfortunate enough to be on those servers to transfer their characters freely to the more populated ones. |

Warhammer online > a big failure in Europe
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 12/06/08 4:52:46 AM
Disagree with pretty much everything the OP says. Though I suggest you roll on a populated server to get the best experience (no, 99%, or anywhere close to that are most certainly NOT Low/Low). Obviously just logging into the game and looking at the server list during peak easily disproves your claim. I'm guessing you're not actually playing the game and are simply trying to "make it seem bad" for unknown reasons. It seems you have collected a bundle of popular myths and mixed them with issues some people are having. If you were actually playing the game, you'd have been complaining over actual issues rather than the myths. |
|
|
Definetly. As long as you make sure to roll on a med or high pop server. If you wait a week you can also begin the game with the two new tank classes available to you. |

KOTBS is absurdly overpowered, tanks with 2 handers that deal insane damage
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 12/04/08 7:25:24 AM
Haven't had any problems with them. Did some tier 1 scenarios yesterday to try out the new Magus... I did about 40k damage in each scenario. I don't think I've seen a knight even break 16k... and trust me there were a lot of knights. Marauders can do a crapload of damage as well, although they are somewhat hindered if all their opponents are tanks, obviously. |
