Originally posted by tyfon Thank you, I will look into the russian version. Also, greetings from a fellow AO fan (best game ever)! I am Lorrides, clan NT on RK2 :)
hehe, hearing the words: ao best game ever is awlays music for my ears, i miss that game soooooooo muuuuuuchh!!!
personally im an antlantean player, but it wont make a diff very soon, ive read the ao forums a couple days ago, if memory serves early feb there will be the long anticipaded rk1/rk2 server merge,,, so who knows, we might run into each other ingame someday:) ( not sure if ill resub after the merge or if ill still wait a bit longer for the engine ) as for my toons, if you see (post merge) any toon with the name InsaneXXX and/or InsanityXXX ( where X is a 6 or 9 ) you can be sure its one of mine, there was so many of them i propably couldnt remember all of em, played pretty much every single non-meele proffesion, some of em doubled by 220s and lower lvl twinks
anyways, from the forum reading i found out that there are 2 big patches set for the nearest future: 18.6 - merge 18.7 - new engine beta
alltho weve been hearing that for years, looks like this time the new engine might really be just round the corner!! hopefully it is!!! |

first difference is in name, while the US and russian versions are called Age of Wushu, the UE version is called Age of Wullin,, - Age of Wullin is not yet in OB, as are the US and rus versions, supposedly it will soon, round feb or so, alltho i read that here on mmorpg.com so i wouldnt be so sure of it w.o extra research - from te comments here on mmorpg i can tell you that the UE version has right now a supperior translation over the US one, wich apparently made loads of player move from the US to the rus beta - you can play the RUS ver. in english if you swap 3 language files from the EU ver. - rus ver is a newer version of the game compared to the US ver, more content/mechanics are implemented there, alltho i wont name any here since i play like 3 days and simply still am somewhat confused b this game - obviously PING is a difference too, depending where you game from you might benefit greatly by the switch to a proper located server - rus. ver ha NO limit for fp2 players in the beta ( NA limits them to 10 hours initially, then just 1h per day )
in case you'd be interested in the rus. version, here is a guide how to download, register, where to get the 3 files to swap, etc, etc: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/373117/Totally-Free-Wushu.html |

for me it was Anarchy Online, wich kept me bussy for something like 6 years or so,,,
and now for the why: - anarchy online has easyly the most complex character development system ever made in any mmo ( ao has exactly 6 abilities and 69 skills!!!!!!!!!!! wich do NOT auto increase when you level up, but you have to manually invest "IP points" to raise them, add hundreds of perks, and suddenly Eve's fiting system starts looking like a childs toy )
- item slots are divided into 3 tabs (not including vanity armor slots): - first tab contains 15 slots ( 6 hud and utility slots, 2 hand slots for weapons, one belt and 6 deck slots ) - second tab contains 15 armor slots - third tab contains 13 implant symbiant slots ,,, wich gives a total of 43 equipment slots!!!! not counting the social/vanity armor slots
- implant/symbiant system - each symbiant has 3 different cluster slots ( big, med and low bonus size ), under each each cluster slot on a each implant you could fit about a dozen different skill bonuses, but you actually have to choose one,,, symbiants give more then just 3 skills, but are proffesion locked and often ( especially for support profs ) dont contain certain skills that you need for certain builds, wich forces many profs into a mix of implants and symbiants for use
- items have other requirements then just a lvl lock, and equipping items actually takes skill and knowledge over the game and its HUGE database {{ please note here i am on a break for over 3 years i believe and i might be off a bit here, had to make a quick db search for those numbers, aswell some of the items in ao's db like non-unique armors, weapons and implants are avaible on different lvls so they will duplicate in the database: - over 11,5k nanos ( spells in ao ) - over 11k weapons - over 2k utility/hud items - over 13,5k armors - over 46,9k implant/symbiant items
etc, etc, etc,,, }}
all of this gives "twinkin" a new meaning, not found in any other game out there |

Went back and could not believe it......
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 12/10/12 4:19:27 AM
every1 has his "first love" mmo wich memmories outshine everything after partially becouse it was the first, but it is true aswell games today are made of sh*t for me atleast, the whole genre went into a bad direction, solo oriented, heavyly instanced, structured pvp themepark garbage,,, and while our beloved oldschool games aint no more the way we remembered them ( pretty much each oldschool game tried to go with the spirit of the times and added solo content, often added instanced version of old raids etc,,, basicly: they got dumbed down and / or made easier ) they are still way better games then the biggest titles of nowdays,,, we're used to be offered breathing worlds by devs, now we're being thrown merely games like a bone, bad ones at that
for me it was Anarchy Online and Hells Heroes ( my organisation ((ao's guilds)) ), played it for like 6 years ( games like 11 in total right now ),,, and a few years after i quit i still wait for the new engine like it woud be christs second comming, put way more hopes into it than any new overhyped game, i miss my characters, i miss my friends, i miss my enemies,,,, i miss rubi-ka |

Originally posted by Torvaldr you sir, are terribly wrong,,, fe aint nothing like p2w, no power items in the shop what so ever!
just social/vanity slots and items, some special looking vechicles and pets, xp rate boosters, crafting time speeder thingies etc paying for faster levelling != p2w |

[edit] poster above beat me to it, so ill just add this instead of the original message:
FE is a hidden gem indeed, keep comming back to it over and over
and when it comes to f2p, they got their bussiness model right, other companys should learn from whomever the hell was FE's dev/publisher
100% access to game's content for free
actually i can only say one bad thing bout FE, terrible client optimalization;/ |

How important is music to you when playing?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/03/12 10:57:43 AM
for me it does make immersion better aswell, but it is not something i require to enjoy my mmo,,, in fact 99% of mmo's i tend to turn off music completely becouse i dont like it and i still do have fun ingame, the few mmo's i found the music good enough to leave it on were eve online, age of conan and propably some others, but those others i must have not played long enough to remember them,,, those two (aoc and eve) tho, have such epic soundtracks it just feels like a huge waste not to listen to it while playing, perfect examples how a well done music can improve the immersion of a mmo,,,

The perfect raid size? (Pve discussion)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/03/12 7:01:59 AM
games should NOT limit the ammount of players you want to bring to a raid, but with that said games should have a diverse group of raids to choose from, wich should be designed for certain ammout of raiders, some for ~20, some for ~50, and some for 100+ or even more,,,
diversity and no restrictions, thats how i like it
[edit] P.S. and pls let it NOT be instanced, and while we're at it, no rezzing possible, you're dead you're out |

Marvel Heroes: Closed Beta Key Giveaway #2
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/28/12 8:07:16 AM
theres so many of them as im a huge marvel, and specially x-men fan,,,, i'd would say Nathan Christopher Charles Summers Cable Askani's Son Soldier X The Chosen,,, or however that line went ( havent re-read x-force in quite a while ), but actually there is one marvel char i like even more then cable and dark phoenix,,,,,
Deadpool
partially becouse of his invovment in Cable's "Messiah" storys, but most of all becouse he's one of the coolest drawn marver characters, add his wit and insanity, his mental instability, wolverine's healing abilities, increadible agility, two katana's and a occasional firearm plus the fact he's neither a true villain nor a true heroe, and you get my very favorite Marvel character ever
Wade Winston Wilson is the man!!
PS. one of my very favorite moments from the whole marvel universe's history as a bonus:
PS2. did i mention he's hillarious?

Funcom has hired a merger firm to price Funcom.
General Discussion « The Secret World 11/15/12 4:58:55 PM
Originally posted by Whitebeards yeah, funcom always had a thing for doing something of their own, not just copy/pasting the flavor of the year game,, they always go for a unique setting ( ao was one of the very few sci fi mmos for a decade ), and while they simplified post ao they're still beating most games avaible on the market (imo),,,
just wish they'd finally finished the new engine for ao - from my personal subjective point of view, its the best fking game ever |

SWTOR has the best music of any MMORPG .. the game had problems but the music sure as hell didn't
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/29/12 4:57:10 AM
as much as i liked the games music and loved loved the old school movies ost's, it is Age of Conan that holds the title of best mmo soundtrack ever, with Eve Online being the runner-up,,,

Do you feel that GW2 deserves the critical acclaim it's gotten from the press and gaming sites?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 10/21/12 2:28:54 PM
not only is it overhyped and doesnt deserve its acclaim, its a step in the wrong direction for mmo's [ personal point of view, bite me fanboy ( self +1 for quoting LOBO ) ], and calling it revolutionary is a slap in the face for a big part of the old school crowd,,,

Biowares f2p model, bringing segregation back!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/15/12 6:33:35 AM

there are true f2p games, that give you 100% or close access to the games content for free,,, ussually the main incentive to pay is trough lower xp/drop rates for f2p players, lately limitting f2p players access to global chat channels is in fashion ( my favorite examples would be Fallen Earth and Aion, but theres more ) on the other hand we got a "freemium" model wich youve mistaken for real f2p: you get only partial access to games content w.o either subscribing or buying out parts of content from the ingame shop ( ie. Age of Conan, loads of others, and now propably the worst freemium model implementation to date: swfailtor )
freemium sucks, f2p rocks |
