This game has to be one of the worst FPS games I have ever played.  Not only is the recoil not recoil just spray as it is in Counter-Strike, the hit boxes are about as good as Counter Strike Sources early beta when you could run up and knife people.

To get items in this game expect to play for months to get 1 item.  Im not joking 15k ingame creds for 1 item, average kill nets you 2 ingame cash.

The only things I would change was the deleveling and the fact you can not solo at all.

Because thats what stopped me from getting into the game.  Starting as a warrior was fail because i couldnt solo and i was a shitty tank even with a shield.

And deleveling was horrible, transportation pissed me off as well.  If they made all those things a little less annoying and possible id be all over the game again.

Obviously it's come to the point where everyone expects to receive a Handjob upon entering the playing realm of a new game. Aion never said it was innovative, it takes the features of the current genre and improves on them. WoW wasn't intuitive either, and it's done quite well.

Also, judging and MMO on the first 10 levels? Smart. I'm sure you enjoyed Heroic Striking your way through level 10 and Sinister Striking your way through level 10 as well, much more action packed.

And to top it off, I hit lvl 20 in China live without grinding once, so I don't know where you are pulling your info from.

I love when people have this idea that its OK for games to not be fun at the beginning. This mindset is wrong and games are failing b/c of it (TCOS). Games SHOULD be fun even from the beginning. One of my favorite things about Final Fantasy 7 is how awsome the beginning of the game was. Its sad that people are OK with games being boring as hell for the first ten hours.

The difference between MMO's and Console RPG's is that everything needs to be fun from the get go in a Console game.

If not the game will fail completely.  MMO's are different because the start of the game is the learning curve of the game.  Those first 10 to 20 levels are there to slowly give the person their class's skills with out over whelming them.

People at least here in the US are generally stupid when it comes to video games.  It takes a lot of time for people to realize what they are doing simply because MMO's here are newish to the casual gamer.

So yes games should be fun and exciting from the get go, but doing so for an MMO is somewhat difficult becase its just not even close to any other genre of game, and you can not compare them to Console games because Console games are 1/10th of the content most crap MMO's are.

Good job posting AoC images because those are not Aion.  Props on the derailing.

Anyways OP 100% agree but I played on the Chinese version, still debating if i'll get Aion when it hits the US because im low on money.

But if i had more time and money I would have already pre-ordered the game.

Good luck trying to sell this is off as "everything is grind." or "aion is Lotro with wings "

Seriously think the game is a great fuel for the Asian market, but as we seen with a lot of  NcSoft products, they dont sell after launch in America, the people who will play this will buy it and thats about it.

Really your American? Me too but I ownestly thought you were forgein with your horrible wordage and they way you jumped to conclusions and changed your opinion.

Why don't you research it or better yet, play the chinese version for 5 bucks and get 40 hours of gameplay.

The idea that most F2P games are pay for gear are funny.

Some allow you to buy crafting materials to have a chance of crafting an already in game item.  You just by pass the need to farm  and buy the mats in game that is it.

Good F2P's do nothing more than speed the game up for the player that plays.

Example Increasing item drop rates and increase exp gain from mobs.

Bad F2P's allow players to buy their way to uberness, those are the ones to stay away from and that seems to be what everyone thinks F2P games are.

And when someone said that F2P will be the way games are done later on is 100% true.  If you guys think blizzard makes a lot of money off of WoW now, imagine for 5 bucks a player could reset a raid dungeon for a raid group after it has already been completed for the week.

This does nothing more than allow the player to get what he disires faster, it does not hand out good items.  As said before games that hand out the best gear for cash are what I consider to be broken and just complete money scams.

But the usual model of F2P is just a way to speed the game up for the player that pays.  As well as add items that make your character unique like someone else said.

Subs
General Discussion « Darkfall

I feel in a constructive arguement that talking about subs for this game is useless because of the fact that no one can buy it really.
I also feel claiming that this game has 40k subs is rediculous because I would imagine their one server could not support that many players.

Claiming subs for this game is like saying you found sasquach, because there has been no announcement of the number of subs and anyone can make up a story of how they came up with the number of subs.

And the argument given by the TC is very valid in its statement.  If he can not find that 40k subs has not been annouced by any source what so ever then why are fanbois claiming this?

Off topic:

But I will give credit to this game.   Its given me the most fun on an internet forum in a long time.  Because the blind faith fanbois are just so funny.  I don't think I have seen a game with such a strong following yet they have no reason to follow it.  Tasos is a lier.  AV is by all business standards and HORRIBLE business.  Its just plain comedy.

Back on topic:

Anyways as said claiming sub numbers is like claiming you found sasquach because anyone can make up a story about how they found sasquach, just as they can as how they aquiered sub numbers for this game.

Hello all,

I was thinking to write a thread about these 2 games. I played Shaiya for over a year and i had a lot of fun and in same time a lot of problems i will put in by doing this comparaison.

F2P (Shaiya)

Pros:

1. you can play for "free" if you don't want to be as good as the others who pay for item mall objects.

Cons:

1.  F2P is actually one of the biggest tricks in gaming.  While it says you don't have to spend real money, actually you can't keep going. Finally you spend a lot much more than for a P2P. In my case, i've payed between 50 and 250$ monthly. You could say it's crazy, but it was the only way to do something in pvp. EX: dying you could lose until 5% exp.; at high lvl you play a full day to earn that exp. So, you don't want to lose it, then you have to buy a item who prevent exp, but for about 8$. Gaining exp is a crime, so you have to buy another item to give you higher exp wich is 17$ by month. Also, you can lose items, so to prevent them to drop you need to buy another item for 8$/mo. Finally you realise you HAVE to spend real money, because the gold you earn by playing is not enough to help you buying from the other players.

2. Gold spammers who increase the inflation. IN Shaiya some of GMs were really unqualified and they banned innocent players accusing them for using 3rd party services.

3. GMs remove for drop the good gear and they offer you to buy with real money. IN Shaiya slotted helmets wasn't anymore droppable, so you should pay until 150$ to have one.

4. F2P use the most infected trickeries to make you spend the money you worked hard for in real life. Ex.: big news, the game offer for 150$ a 4 slotted helmet. Wow, everybody use the savings and try to get it. Few months later another big offer: 5 slotted helmets and for a higher lvl for 150$. OMG, why not to smash the piggy bank and buy it?! And so. All these trickeries make you spend like a fool. I knew few persons who payed over 5000$ in less than 1 year.

 5. GMs abuse you and threat you like a fly on the basis the game is "free". They don't give a shiit on you.

P2P (AION)

Pros:

1. BY spending 13-15$ monthly, actually the game makes you a big service. It seems that AION require ~120$ by year. Well, for Shaiya i've spent 1015$ in 12 months O_O

2. The game offer equal chances at drop. You don't have to pay for them with real money.

3. Higher chances that players have about same capacities, because all the items are found in game, not in item mall.

4. Higher interest in updates to keep the players unbored

5. Keeping away the children who make you feel bad sometime

6. grinding spots it'll be less crowded than in a F2P

Cons:

1. the game is available in the fall only :D

Well, that was your fault for spending that money.

Good F2P games are free to play only to allow for a bigger player base.
The only thing paying will do is speed up what you are already doing for free.

They may offer potions or items for crafting, but they are all available to the player for free if they grind it or spend in game money.

Cabal was a good example of this.  Im not sure about the new gambling thing they have, turned me away from it because it reminds me of gauchpon or w/ever from Maplestory, which ran the economy.

Is this really the community that consider them selfs hardcore MMO players?  Its a simple question.

IS THIS GAME ALL HYPE!

Is basically what it comes down to.  Is it just because of the Star Wars IP, and because Bioware has a good reputaion for games that its receving good hype?

Well easy answer hell yea.

This game with its horrible graphic style would go no where unless it had a good IP and good developer.

Think any other game thats come out recently that has cartoony graphics.  Look at all the F2P games out there that have cartoony graphics and unknown developers.

This game would be almost just as known as most the other MMO's if it did not have a solid IP or solid developing team.

From all the replies of rabid DF fans I see another problem that just cropped up with the current game.

The community.  Damn you guys are nuts.  Good luck getting players to play it so it won't be shut down if you guys act like this in game.

You can get the authenticator as a FREE APP on IPHONE

The authenticator is meant for players who play WoW from several machines, internet cafes etc.. not for a home users.. bottom line OP its your responsibility to keep your account secure.. Blizzard in no way has to help so if they do be greatful.

Just because you dont know how your account was accessed does not shift the blame to anyone else but yourself.

Buck stops with you.

Yes it is their responcability to be keep a players account safe.  Are you on crack?  Now if said player gets a trojan or gives out their password blizzard can't be held responcable for that, but they can at least fix the problem if it is being hacked and give the player his/her items back.

But if by some other means they managed to get the account with some sort of program or device through sticktly knowing the account name then yes blizzard is at fault.

By saying that blizzard does not need to be responcible for account security is like saying a bank does not need to be responcible for bank account security.

May not be as extreme but your using both and they both get money off of you.

Im reading this more and more when people talk about Diablo 3.

How has gaming evolved from Diablo 2 to when ever Diablo 3 comes out.

MMO's are still the same thing.  The new ones are only re-skined with little different variation of what other MMOs prior to them had.

Darkfall a supposive sandbox that is so revolutionary is nothing new.  PlanetSide had the same type of combat.  Other Sandbox's exist.  Look at EvE and Ryzom, they are sandboxs.

FPS games are still FPS games, nothing changes in them to much of an extent.  Maybe the way you play it slightly as in if you click your left mouse button or you hold it down, or if you click it in bursts.  There might also be a little character development put into as well shown well be BioShock.

RTS, RTS are still the same build and destroy.  Have resources and use those resources to build and destroy the enemies.  Still same concept, just a little twist is added to some.

So why are people saying this?  Why are people claiming that games have evolved.  No game in I would say the past 5 years have really had anything revolutionary.  Maybe they added on awesome features but there has been no real evolution to games.

Hack N Slash are still Hack N Slash.

All generas of video games are fleshed out.  There has not been a new genera in for ever.  Yes some blend two or three together but there is really no new generas.

So how have games Evolved?

Yes there is more and more stuff to do in games.  Yes they have better graphics and better details.  But in response to a style of a game why would it be said that said genera of a game is worse than another simple because "Gaming has Evolved."

Can you really say it has?  It has added a lot of nice new features to games and allowed gernas to be mixed a little.  But have games really Evolved?

(sorry for spelling in a rush got work)

Edit: Sorry was ment to say recently, yes obviously gaming has changed from when it started.

For those of you that say no its not a MMO you truely don't know what diablo 2 had to offer.

I would still be playing this, and i played this a good 6 years ago if the server wasnt so laggy and hack filled.  The game allowd a player to do more in it than just about any new MMO out on the market.

If I wanted to make a BS character just to run really really fast, but not do much of anything else I could do it, and I could do it in a time efficent manner.

People always made new characters to try out new things.  Yes there were the cookie cutter builds and what not but there was alway the ability to make a unique character.

In MMO's the fights are static and you literaly have no control on what you can do.  Your stuck in the battle till you kill the monster or die.  Thats it nothing else, you can't run you can't run around walls you can't do anything to void them.

Diablo 2 and definetly with D3 you will be able to do all of that.  There will be no "cannot due to being in combat."  And monsters will not always be able to hit you just because you are in combat.  If you run from a monster that is slower than you, it will not be able to hit you.  If a monster is faster than you and you can't kill it, hope you have a tp on you.

This mentality that its a "hack n slash pile of crap" some people have is comical.  You don' t even know whats availible in the game because you never looked deep into it.  Combat makes these types of games.  MMO's the combat is more or less a side project to having a massive grind and the illusion of doing something great.

But back on topic, will this game kill MMO's of corse not, will it put a dent in many of them.  Yes for sure it will.  Just as most other new games put a dent into them for a short amount of time.

But will it be a lasting effect or just a month or two, we can only wait and see.   But personally i think it will have an effect on them a lasting one too.  One that will make the devs of said MMO consider why D3 is doing so well even though it is not an MMO.

Which in turn will hopefully inspire some some devs to make a change to the basic MMO.

And that someone just happened to be so effectionate towards you to leave "<3 GHOUL" as a comment?

No, it looks like 2 or 3 seperate people made those other posts.. The sad part is that the other people didn't even give him negative rep. If you look at the picture, the squares on the left side are gray. That means neutral rep I believe. The square to the left of mine is red, meaning I gave him negative rep.

Thats just more proof that the other posts weren't mine. If I had created alt accounts to give him negative rep, I would have actually given him negative rep, not neutral rep. So that proves that those other posts weren't mine.

2 or 3 seperate people gave him negative rep for the same old posts in the time frame of 4 minutes? Doesn't sound very likely to me.

As for the picture being gray, that means that the person who gave rep has no rep power and thus can't effect your rep. If you read the comments behind the rep's then it's pretty clear they are negative. Clearly the person who gave that rep had just signed up on the forums (you have 0 rep power when you first sign up), which further indicates that the accounts were made simply for the reason to give negative rep.

Seems to me like you are grasping at straws here. That is of course my own personal opinion.

Edit:

onlinenow225, read the thread before going on a posting rampage. His ban was not due to the thread he made, but due to the fact that he made multiple forum accounts to give negative rep to people. He of course denies this. Who is right or wrong on this matter is left for the mods to decide. They decided that he indeed did make multiple forum accounts and thus banned him, since it's against the rules.

Wrong from what hes saying the whats her face made them belive this.  Ghoul31 and Ghoul are different people.  If Ghoul is not banned but Ghoul31 or w/ever his name is is then how does that support that he made multiple accounts?

And my posts are still valid.  If they can not deal with customers that word things wrong, or are negative then they have no business dealing with the public.

If you have ever worked in something as simple as a groccery store you will learn the basics of customer service and what needs to be done to satisfy customers.

Because the noisy customer is the customer who cares, and if there are serveral nosiy and complaining customers, well you can bet theres at least 5 or 6 to each complaining customer that will just up and leave for ever with out saying a word.

No, you deserved it for typing this crap in their offical forum. What gives you the right to call their game a failure before it even launched and your disrespect for the company.

They are sure you are definitely not a potential customer just a troublemaker. I would have banned you too if i am the boss.

Wow, have you ever delt with a customer in your life?  Chill out, get a grip.  BTW your looking way too far into his post.

By them banning him it just shows horrible customer service.  This "disrespect" you speek of is coming from you, it has nothing to do with what is at hand.

Also the boss comment, thats why your not a boss.  You would loose every customer simply because you have no idea how to deal with customers.

Get off your high horses everyone.

TC did nothing wrong in that post.  If he didn't respond to the thread in a faster manner so what its not like its aim its there for many to read.

He should not have been banned, if the moderator thought that the post was flaming or bashing the game he could have PMed the TC.

By this alone it just screams MO is going to be another "Praise <said person>" game.  No do not support the forum ban.  Claiming he did something wrong makes it seem as if the devs/monderators of that game can do no wrong.

He has a right to get an answer from them.  A simple link is all that was needed, and then the mod could have closed the thread.

The way they did it shows they have absolutly no idea how to deal with customers.  Customers are not always smart, they may not have the resources to find said material.   Or have the ability to do it them selfs.   Thus that is the role of the company to supply information to the customer.

Well i guess in this case potential customer.  But they just potential drove him away.  Thats one less person for them to make money off of.

But they also lost another.  I will not stand by a company that can not deal with their customers/potential customers.

I disaggree, going into a dungeon only for loot is the most boring part in EQ2 for me. And I prefer wide open dungeons over instanced crap. Instanced crap is always always always exactly the same when you go in

That would also elimante the need for these crappy BOP items.

By making boss mobs a timed spawn and tradeable evenchully everyone will get the item in one way or another.

By having the boss fight not only be challeneging but having the players them selfs fight over killing said boss adds to the excitement 10 fold.

To end this short and not go into crafting as well, its a good idea.

Dungeon crawling is awsome fun when the gameplay is awsomely fun.  Diablo 2 was amazingly fun w/out uber godly gear, and it just got even more fun when you wtf pwnd everything.

New guy to WoW.  Know this the game from 1-79 is nothing like the game at 80.  But both have good and bad qualities.  Well Personally I hated/loved 1-70 but really did enjoy the questing in Wotlk.

Recomendation to you and your friends, if you do get the game.  Get Quest helper to help you guys out with quests.
