For me, WoW did not crash every 10 minutes for the first few weeks. It was more like once a day with a couple of 12 hour maintenance cycles (in addition to the normal tuesday ones). Lag spikes were more the issue. As one who played at release, I encountered very few problems with the early WoW. Anyways, I would not call Aventurine's handling of this ordering process professional. Just reading folks' queries you can tell there are tons of mis-orders and the simple fact that people don't know if they are in the pre-order or not. Hell, half the posters can't tell the difference between the account creation process and the pre-order process. That is not the players' fault, it is squarely AV's fault (they should be more clear with a better online handling system). With WoW, you, at the very least, had your box and pretty much everyone knew if the account was live or not. Billing was NEVER a problem for Blizzard. I can appreciate Aventurine's idea of a staggered release. That idea is very smart. The implementation of such has been very much less than "professional."
Agreed. Their handling of the entire pre-order process was definitely not professional. They don't even have any solid info on the main page of their site, minus a release schedule link to the forum. These guys have absolutely no idea what they are doing when it comes to marketing, and ultimately that could make or break a game. Doesn't really even matter if the game was pure gold, which I'm already thinking it's not, if you don't know how to market it, no one will play it.
Except for all of the people on here waiting for it, who managed to sell out the pre-orders.
Definately.. nobody is gonna play this game. |

I need to know if you can change your hair color at a barber shop or something.. after you've already made a character. |

My list of what MMO's need to get rid of immediately

Originally posted by protoroc Oblivion's skill system was superb, it was just implemented like total crap. The level scaling was not present in it's predecessor Morrowind, and that in my heart is one of the best RPGs of all time. Oblivion was crap because everything was scaled to your level, a skill based system could be developed where this is not the case. I don't want people to know exactly what I'm capable of simply because I have a (Level 50) over my head. Skill system would be awesome. Just wait for an Elder Scrolls Online. |

Rajai, you fail. You're not funny, stop talking. When I said Blizzard doesn't know how to make games, I meant they don't know how to make MMOs. Warcraft strategy and Diablo was good.. but wow? When I started playing Everquest I was sucked in by the amount of character some of the NPCs had, when I play WoW.. every single quest giver sounds the same.. and it's always something along the lines of "Farmer Ted needs 4 fish livers for his stew, go kill them and come back." WoW is a grindfest to 70, then all you do is farm, raid, and pvp.. and that gets old quick. I have fun making new characters on EQ2.. on WoW I have to do the same carp over again. Kill 10 boars, come back. |

Hey! Look! At least someone sees it my way. What's your name pal I'll bake you a cake. Go.. pvp or something? Rofl. |

I can't seem to get Xfire to pick up EQ2 on my computer. It picks up EQ1, WoW, pretty much every other game I have.. I downloaded it via the updater, which was Play the Fae at first, downloaded off the sony website.
Could anyone help me out? Thanks. |

While I agree with much of what you say on the part of SOE being crap...... ..... Blizzard does not know how to make games. WoW sucks, horribly. If you want to kill boars, crabs, and giant owls all day with no storyline or direction at all.. go for it. I personally prefer character development and group play than farming, pvping, and more farming. EQ2 rules. |

Finding RP places with scripted combat systems are fun.. though I'd avoid Gor.. at least on SL. It's basically guys killing eachother and raping slaves.
........all day long. Star Wars RP is fun. :) |
