I GET TONS OF ACTION!

No serious pvper runs xfire....I dont know - I associate the application with solo pve players (WOW, War, LOTRO), a population DF is not intended for...

EDIT: We run ACTool & AutoIT :P

And of course alot of people quit, after the first month. I havent played in a week bc of work and partying but will not unsuscribe the account anytime soon. Hope i will have time to get right back on it soon enough.

I was actually rooting for this Einstein guy having made sense in a couple of other posts. After this one, just no.

I'm now officially a DF troll.

Good job man.

suck on what...still shows that they have no idea what they are doing...and when DF falls flat on their faces and shuts down...i guess ill have to say "suck on this DF fans"

No idea what they're doing? They're showing more foresight than Blizzard did.

When more people than the estimated numbers showed interest in WoW, what did Blizzard do? Sell as many copies as possible, and then have their servers crash every 10 minutes for the first few weeks because they couldn't handle the load.

What did Aventurine do? They limited the number of copies that people could buy so they wouldn't sell more copies than their servers could handle. They opted for their fan's playing experience over making more money.

Who sounds more professional? (pro tip, its not Blizzard)

Its kind of sad that the vapor trolls are left with nothing to say really. For years they got their rocks off saying this game was a basement scam using Gmod. Now all they  can hope for is "this game will fail, cause that's the last excuse I've got left!"

For me, WoW did not crash every 10 minutes for the first few weeks.  It was more like once a day with a couple of 12 hour maintenance cycles (in addition to the normal tuesday ones).  Lag spikes were more the issue.  As one who played at release, I encountered very few problems with the early WoW.

Anyways, I would not call Aventurine's handling of this ordering process professional.  Just reading folks' queries you can tell there are tons of mis-orders and the simple fact that people don't know if they are in the pre-order or not.  Hell, half the posters can't tell the difference between the account creation process and the pre-order process.  That is not the players' fault, it is squarely AV's fault (they should be more clear with a better online handling system).

With WoW, you, at the very least, had your box and pretty much everyone knew if the account was live or not.  Billing was NEVER a problem for Blizzard.

I can appreciate Aventurine's idea of a staggered release.  That idea is very smart.  The implementation of such has been very much less than "professional."

Agreed.  Their handling of the entire pre-order process was definitely not professional.  They don't even have any solid info on the main page of their site, minus a release schedule link to the forum.  These guys have absolutely no idea what they are doing when it comes to marketing, and ultimately that could make or break a game.  Doesn't really even matter if the game was pure gold, which I'm already thinking it's not, if you don't know how to market it, no one will play it.

Except for all of the people on here waiting for it, who managed to sell out the pre-orders.

Definately.. nobody is gonna play this game.

New game with poor launch will fall through the gaps in the fast paced gaming community. Save your money people.

Ok

I need to know if you can change your hair color at a barber shop or something.. after you've already made a character.

I downloaded this beta client last night, registered my beta key and everything.

Why is this not working? :(

I want in!

Skills are no different then levels. Oblivion was absolutely boring as every mob was your equal, easiest way to win is never level past 1.

I've been a crafter and I have been an adventurer so I know both sides. Unfortunately there is more adventurers and they dont want to be chained to a crafter, but crafters want to make stuff people will want.

Instances are useful. Adonis, shortly after Shadowlands, Anarchy Online, there was only so many hecklers in the zone. It could only support so many teams and was the only way to level past 200 (it was Funcom so of course half of the expansion wasnt even implemented at launch, dont think AoC was special). Past that limit and you were shit out of luck with no alternative to sk gain. Instancing could have made an already horrible experience a bit more accommodating. I call for a mix of open world, public instances (I miss trains lol) and private instances

Oblivion's skill system was superb, it was just implemented like total crap. The level scaling was not present in it's predecessor Morrowind, and that in my heart is one of the best RPGs of all time.

Oblivion was crap because everything was scaled to your level, a skill based system could be developed where this is not the case. I don't want people to know exactly what I'm capable of simply because I have a (Level 50) over my head. Skill system would be awesome. Just wait for an Elder Scrolls Online.

Yeeeah.. that's why it has more players than EVE online...

80,000 on at any given time last time I checked.

Rajai, you fail. You're not funny, stop talking.

When I said Blizzard doesn't know how to make games, I meant they don't know how to make MMOs. Warcraft strategy and Diablo was good.. but wow? When I started playing Everquest I was sucked in by the amount of character some of the NPCs had, when I play WoW.. every single quest giver sounds the same.. and it's always something along the lines of "Farmer Ted needs 4 fish livers for his stew, go kill them and come back."

WoW is a grindfest to 70, then all you do is farm, raid, and pvp.. and that gets old quick. I have fun making new characters on EQ2.. on WoW I have to do the same carp over again. Kill 10 boars, come back.

Hey! Look! At least someone sees it my way. What's your name pal I'll bake you a cake.

Go.. pvp or something? Rofl.

I can't seem to get Xfire to pick up EQ2 on my computer. It picks up EQ1, WoW, pretty much every other game I have.. I downloaded it via the updater, which was Play the Fae at first, downloaded off the sony website.

Could anyone help me out? Thanks.

While I agree with much of what you say on the part of SOE being crap......

..... Blizzard does not know how to make games. WoW sucks, horribly. If you want to kill boars, crabs, and giant owls all day with no storyline or direction at all.. go for it. I personally prefer character development and group play than farming, pvping, and more farming.

EQ2 rules.

Finding RP places with scripted combat systems are fun.. though I'd avoid Gor.. at least on SL. It's basically guys killing eachother and raping slaves.

........all day long.

Star Wars RP is fun. :)
