It's a slight annoyance but i think it is more fair than having the 40-45% (no idea if thats close to actual numbers) of people playing WAR that choose order have to constantly lose.

This is what’s funny I played for about 3 weeks and even though Order is out numbered most of the time we were still able to spank Destruction on a regular basis. The numbers seem to work against them quite a bit. It might be a different story once everyone is guilded up and organized but they seemed to just be one big cluster stepping over each other with no plan.

I am pretty new to Warhammer and did not get into the preview weekend, call me a late bloomer, but I got a few questions when it does come to the population in general on this game.

1. How many players can be on 1 server @ a time? And does this mean the servers will keep a even balance on how many order and destruction players are on? I am confused here..

They are maxing out  between 2100 and 2600 during PW not sure what the lock count will be I would guess 2100. The balance is goingto be based on a percentage per side on average it seemed to be a 60 for 40 split for most servers. With Order as a the underdog.

2. Is the Battlegrounds structured like WoW where you go agaist other players from a different server, or just your server alone? And I assume the RvR is only agaist players on the same server since its not instanced right?  No  cross server crap.

3. What happens when the server is capped? Would  we be looking at a que to get in? The reason I ask this question is, if I decide to play the game later on down the road, will it be hard to get on and create a character so I can be with my friends? It will be a queue but the are starting with 20+ servers so playing should not be an issue.

I currently play the sci-fi type setting games (Eve) and I hear alot of people that like pvp are going to give this game a try.

If there is a CAP for each faction on the servers... is there a cap on the total number of alts you can create on your account?

Why do I ask?

What if my main is Order on server A.  But in order to be an arsehat, I go ahead and roll lvl 1 Destruction toons on other servers B-Z... as many alts as I can, on as many servers as I can.  I would do this just to take up Destruction character slots on those servers with characters that will never see combat or be of any level to even matter.

Basically, if you got enough people to do this... you could hamstring one faction if you overloaded 1 side with enough lowbies and took up enough slots on a server (servers).

This wouldn't be too far from having several afk'ers in WoW's AV.

It's a soft cap queue so the each time for login should not be more then then a few minutes. The alt limit is going to be 10 so you can have one of each type for your faction. Cross faction play is not going to be allowed after beta on servers. So once you build your main that's your faction for that server.

Your plan will not work because the cap is only restricting logins of a individuals at that time you can have as many alts as you like up to 10 on each server. AFK won't work as the have an inactivity timer on the game.

They have stated from head start on the CE items will be active through the grace period on the CE beta key. You will need to enter a retail CE key into your account in order to keep your items before the grace period expires or loose your in-game stuff. At least that is my understanding. Nothing carries over from open beta to head start. I believe the grace period is going to be 5 to 10 days before a retail key is required.

K I got a pretty good list I will see what I can get for answers.

I think in the terms of the game they are going for true sir name as being awarded. Such as  TrollSlayer Hammerfist, Doomcrusher, Dwarfsbane. etc.  I have not seen if they will add any kind of buff or just for fun.

I will be spending the day at PAX Friday and if anyone has any speciifc questions for the staff I will try and get some answers.  I will have to beat the mobs down more then likely to get someones attention but will do my best.  I am keeping any loot they give out to myself though so don't ask. I wish I could go to the Saturday session with Jeff and Paul but have to keep my wife happy and take her out of town for the holiday.

All just play the game and decide for yourself.

lol good one

Yeah it's a totally a random matrix I believe your ranking gives you a slight mod on your roll but mainly just helps determine your end PQ award points. I have come into several PQ's mid way and gotten 2nd or 3rd on the roll, and if you play them 2 or 3 times you can max out your points anyway to cash out and get your high lvl PQ items. I think its great that the roll system adds some luck into the mix gives everyone a fair shot.

BO’s are not over powered I was able to take them 1v1 with no healers in the mix about 60% of the time as an Iron Breaker. But if you start backing either with a couple of healers it can get down right nasty. So the short of it is he who has the most competent healers is going to take the fight most of the time.

Also guild halls are not per guild it's one per faction (at the moment due to there only being 2 cities) so guilds can gather together and form alliances and such.

Hope it's a" BIG" hall

They have stated that there will not be player housing but guild halls that are suppose to be meeting places  and personal vault storage system. From what I've seen on other threads the Guild hall are suppose to be pretty nice. Hopefully they will add a "living" feature for them so they improve as the guild levels up.

Paragus great review you did a good job.

{ Mod Edit }

I think the larger fear for most people is that by making the game console they will dumb down the UI to accommodate for controllers only and have limited keyboard functionality making it a glorified arcade game.

This is worrisome as they get one shot at making a good ST MMO and if it craps out that’s it. As long as the game has the depth of the IP it will be fine I just don't see how they can keep the game rich in content and depth and also set for console play. If the do great but I just don’t think it will translate well.

there is no 400k subs in AOC because Erling was the person who said it and he has BS all over his mouth!!!

if you take into account all those still on their 'free' month and those suckered into the 3 month and 6 month plans (poor guys) then on the date given the numbers are probably pretty accurate.

So far as I know Failcom have said they won't be giving anymore sub numbers out ever again... Still another month until those 3 month subs run out and another 4 months until the 6 month subs run out!

So the real figures relating to how many ACTIVE (i.e. still actually logging in) subs they have / will have really can't be gleaned until January next year.

This sounds about right. But I do believe they only have 150k  to 200K active players right now. So technically they can say 400 subs. but it will end up being deminishing returns after the first 6 months and the books will look like hell once all the closed sub drop out.

This is actually not a good idea there are lots of people that enjoy fighting people lower level than themselves. I love going back to fight people 20-30 levels lower than me it really gives me a rush and kind of an ego boost as well. I really hope this is not serious as I usually like to log in sometimes to a game and go back to the newbie zone and fight people just for fun.

Yeah... I think people like you are why they came up with the chicken system.

Well I am a gamer also and my needs should be met as well. Just because a few people can't handle PVP against big boys does not mean that they should have a system like this. If you cant see whats wrong with system then I guess you will  be one of the 25k subs left after the first 2 months.

You don't sound like a gamer to me. Why don't you let everyone know what server you will be on and we all take turns seeing how much game you got in a fair fight.

God.. this sounds like they are in the middle of beta test, rather than about to release.

Yes it's good they are addressing all the complains that we could read in the forums. Very good indeed. But still... oh well not much else to play so... gogo Mythic... I guess..

um.....I don't know what to tell you other than it IS in Beta.

Preview Weekend was a BETA for STRESS Testing.  On September 7th OPEN BETA starts.

Where are all the people coming from that think games are supposed to be perfect while in Beta?

I think you're missing his point which is that there are still a lot of issues to be dealt with this close to release - Beta or not.

I don't know much about software development but with only a few weeks before the game goes to press surely it should only be a few tweaks here and there, not major issues like pathing that need to be sorted?

The game architecture is done everything he discussed in his note is nothing more then bug fixes. Especially if something was fixed and then they broke it in an update the just need to do a roll back and revise the the code. I'm sure they were reproducing and patching errors in the internal lab close to real time as possible all this weekend, once they have the fix then it will roll through the QA process and go on to the Elder test servers to see that it fixes the issues with out breaking anything else.

Worst case since I image retail code is going to ship in the next day or so to the manufacturer they will have a large patch on game day to get any fixes in that did not make it into the release build.

I put this quick chart together so it might help some people under stand in general what a testing process is:

Chart of how testing is done in most cases:

Alpha Testing = Internal company employee's and my include friends and family members of employee's under NDA.

Beta Testing (Closed) = All of the above and selected public players that meet the internal defined testing requirements and under NDA.

Beta Testing (Open) = All of the above and a larger player base invited to test specifc aspects of the game and stress test. Traditionally the NDA is lifted by then hence the term OPEN.

Preview Play = Most often Promotional invites that the genernal public can have access to the game for a period of time through site registration or contests.

Free Demo = Normally buddy passes given out 3 to 6 months after release or with a retail purchase of the game or contest prize.

It is seldom if ever that you will see any  preleases of a game open to the world for download unless it is free play.

Open beta is the 7th if they still have codes then maybe.
