Planetside was one of tehe best concepts that never got expanded on. I CB and OB's it and it was one of tthe funnest times I ever had in a game. 10 or 20 drop ships flying over a base and dropping full fire teams on bases was a powerful site back then. "As long as it did not turn into a slide show". It was a game to far ahead of its time which is why it never really took off. After going gold it seem like the hardcore fighters left the game. Once the beta faction leadership moved on it lost its way. Other games have tried but I tell I've never came acrosse another game that gave you the War feel that PS did. Its the open world that makes all the difference never knowing whats around the bend.

I think if the game was retooled and a Plantside II was built and tweaked with some add functionality. Then it could see a new golden age and bring the FPS MMO Open world style into the 21st century.

so the DHoV from DF is moving to MO? are they the same people? juz wondering, coz me and some of my guild mate is moving to MO as well, and yes we are from the same alliance =)

Correct DHV is multi game we have an NA and EU Div in Darkfall and Starting div up in MO. Lots of old and new faces in the guild. We also have quite a few people on Steam and are good for a pick game of TF2 every so often :)

OK I got LE so it was 98.00 US (INCLUDING SHIPPING) I live on the west coast so shipping is a pretty good deal on it from Sweden at aobut $14.00 US. So the actual cost for the LE purchase is $84.00 US. That I have to say is a pretty damn good deal on an LE.

The boxed verisons $75.00 US (INCLUDING SHIPPING)  $61.00 US taking out the flat rate shipping charge. Still steep but not that bad. I imagine the DD will be between 40.00 to 50.00 Which is reasonable compared to what AV charged if thats what they sell at.

Once everyone is over sticker shock monthly is about the norm for a new MMO. Time will tell how the game does so not counting beta time for Pre-order the game will cost like 3.30 per day for the first month or the cost of a venti mocha on LE or $2.50 per day for the boxed set for the first month of play.

Regardless MMO's are a hobby if you are choosing between eating or paying rent then I don't think any game should be your priority one way or the other right now. I just am going without my Mochas for a copule of weeks to pay for it :-)

DF is really a game you get right out of the gate or you don't. AV has lots of issues to fix but when everything is running you can get lost for hours in play. The lack of a PvE system has just strengthed our guild. You pop in  see whos farming or mining or take a raft ride and see whos out and about and try to pirate another raft. The lack of support systems like econ and quest strings is really kind of forcing everyone to make their own fun and rules and econ systems. Its been years since I have been involved in guild politics and trying to broker alliances or hell even wanted to craft as i found it boring in other games. Now you never now if you go out and try to mine  who might jump you and take you down or what you might luck into when you take them down (Not everyone AFK Macros). Now you have to plan harvesting raids to get nodes and guard shipments back to a safe bank etc. This is what a sandbox is suppose to be isn't it. The only people I see bitching in our guild of 100+ are the ones that can't wrap their minds around  that  there really are no levels and a guy naked in with a leafblade can take down somone if full plate if he is lucky. The people that are trying to apply the WOW, AOC or WAR level rules are trying to skill up for no other reason other then thats the only way the know how to play a game and can't under stand that building your city or hamlet and taking war to other guilds and fighting the dragons or black knights is what suppose to be the fun part of the game not checking stats like an account. It simple PLAY the game and skills will come.

bump

Actually the game population seems pretty healthy we add between 3 to 5 new guildmates a day in game. Last count there are over a 250 guilds in game, Account populations should be roughly over 8000. But they have blocked the ability to check now. We have another 60 people trying to buy and get in game.

We've had one person quit the game out of 50+ in our guild that are in game. The main reason they quit was they did not get the PvP aspect of the game and the rough environment they did not quit because they had an issue with AV they were just bad at PvP and could not understand the skill system.

Sure they suck at account management and PR. But I have had a blast playing other then day 1 which sucked for everybody in game except the exploiters. In a few months I think they will be able to flesh out a nice niche base to support a couple of servers in the EU and the US. Its still not a game for everyone.

why i got something like that after my order ? anyone else get the same ?

If this is what you got then you are in don't worry.

I don't doubt your list and LoD is a solid guild but ninja fighting and farming stuck mobs is not an honest way to get your city. It's not an issue of if they cheated its the issue that if any of them cheated there should be a wipe or disband of any of the confirmed cheaters as a guild and they can just as easily do it again in 4 hours on a stable server maybe even in less time.  I simply would like to see anyne that can be confirmed using the expliots booted. Not the whole guild just the ones that took unfair advantage of a flaw.

After thinking about this all day I was for a total wipe instead I think this is what should occur:

1. Fix the server first (properly).

2. Rest all the clan shards. (If a guild did it in 4 hours legit they can do it again.) No one had banks up yet so that should not be a big deal.

3. Disband the clan divide the 2000 gold across the players listed in the guild. This would allow them to reform. But dump any ill gotten loot out of the clan bank.

4. 1 month account ban on any player they can confirm through log entries was using the exploits. Dump characters and make them start from scratch if they still want to play.

This would punish the guilty get rid of any contraband loot and teach them a lesson. The host players in the guild can reform. Anyone not involved is really effected, If it really was a short list of guilds that did this then it should not be so hard to implement.

Assuming the OP is all true.....

The sync issues wouldn't have kept you from killing any afk macro.    Players were very easy to kill if they weren't moving around.   You'd have to be totally inept or not even try if you couldn't kill them.   As far as the looter, he too has to stop to loot corpses.   In fact, you could have been looting those corpses if you wanted to.

Somehow my clan managed to farm all the gold needed for a city on mobs that were mostly invisible while also defending against many invisible players.    These mobs weren't bugged in place nor were they high level.    We just had goals we wanted to achieve and instead of quitting out of frustration, we adapted to the extreme difficulties and got er done.

As far as duping.   I don't believe it.    There was a patch in beta that created a duping loophole but it was found and reported by a player and immediately addressed.    Even with that bug, only one resource that I know of was able to be duped and items and gold couldn't be duped using that bug.

No wipe, everyone was on equal footing.    Some may have been lucky enough to find easy bugged mobs but those mobs were available to everyone equally the same.   No need to penalize the many to target the few.   The devs are able to look at the logs and see what all happened yesterday and its probably one reason for the long delay of bringing the servers back up.    Hopefully if they do find some gross allegations of hacks or cheats (not exploited mobs) that they will reverse those gains for thejust those partys involved.

On the duping issue I believe that there is a strong chance that it was put back into the game as what was released was more then likely a modified build of a previous update allot of the issue with sync were in game over a week ago and then fixed at the same time the dup bug was fixed. That being said the server did not have the player cap reached at all maybe just under 5000 accounts created before it went down. The only other option I see to a wipe would be to have another server open that would give people and option to chose and roll on starting over or stay and live with the guilds that did cheat and gain an unfair advantage as harvesting the higher mobs with macros is an expliot bugged mobs or not.

Yep normally I would not cry foul but there are huge exploits going on. I'm in a NA/EU guild and we were fortunate enough to get a respectable amount of people in with pre-orders on a few of us were in beta so most of our folks are just learningthe ropes. but clans with less then 6 people are claiming City stones in under 12 hours of play. This needs the exploits fixed and a clean restart full wipe. They were fixed a week ago and now we have the same bugs back in game.

How is that an exploit?

Building a city in 12hours is perfectly feesible with 6 people... They're also incredibly vulnerable to be taken over. AGREE but not 4 hours though thats is the issue.

I have zero issue with guilds that got there stuff legit but if you have 6 to 10 members in a guild and you are dropping a clan stone in less then 5 hours I will call it suspect considering the sync warp issue everyone was having it would have been next to impossible imo with out taking advantage of the known exploits. They log everything as to who, what ,where and how. So if 99% of a specifics clans gold came from a known exploit then I would think a level of sanction would be warranted maybe a day ban for known explioters and lock the site down for a day so a level playing field would give every other player or a guild an even playing field. They still have thier stuff and it would serve as a warning to everyone else you exploit the next ban will be perminant. The best they can do is a deterance but at least it would be something.

Bump!

Have pre-order and played beta for a month. Love it. The world is not going to shake at it's release but it will grow a respectable following overtime. The gankefesters will not stay long as Orgainziard guilds claim the cities and reign in the over zelous players.  It will not be a game for everyone and you with either get it or not (In sterms of understanding)

To bad about your main machine Client runs fine on most builds update your board drivers maybe.

230 to 280 ping from Seattle no issue playing at all with up to 30 people on screen. Range attacks worked fine.

Ok ,Guys

Based on the math including the purchase price the game cost .79 cents a day to have an account. Or roughly $200.00 dollars a year. Most MMO's run between $175.00 to $225.00 a year again US dollars.  If this is a back breaker for anyone like not paying rent or buying food then you should NOT BE playing any online games what so ever.  Let alone have internet or cabe TV. For everyone else drink one less soda or smoke a few less cigrattes a week and you can play any game you like.

Trust me, it's fine. Just get into a good guild.

Games like WoW have turned the idea of a 'guild' into basically a second friends list. That's not how it's gonna work in Darkfall. In games like this, your guild is your lifeline. No more 10,000 guilds made up of some random player and his 2 friends. There will be a bunch of large guilds that make up most of the server population. How many? I'm not sure. It won't be just a handful, but it won't be trillions like in a WoW type game either.

Themepark MMOs like WoW have also gotten people used to the idea of a solo quest world. Basically a near endless road of public quest hubs, where everyone is welcome, for you to travel along. In a game like Darkfall, your main hub will be your guild's city. That's gonna be primarily where you live, and the surrounding area will be you and your guildmate's primary leveling area.

Now, I'm basing all of this on my experience with Shadowbane, and how so much of how Darkfall works is exactly the same, but there are differences, so take everything I've said with a grain of salt. Just remember one thing...

Darkfall will not be all about you walking down a lonesome road with nothing but a chatbox shared by a handful of loose acquaintances. It's gonna be you and your friends, on YOUR turf, against the world.
