The 'official' user-picture thread.
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 4/23/07 6:29:59 AM
For the sake of getting to know each other and see who is behind the forum handle and enhance community spirit, I invite you all to post pictures of yourself. I kindly ask that pictures be not much bigger than, say, 600*600. Of course, other forum rules still apply. Of course, don't post pictures of others forum users unless you have your permission and such. Just common sense, really.
Anyway, I am truly curious. |

I was comparing it to rugby, actually. But yes, I think American Football is wimpy even compared to the real football which I dislike aswell. I can see why some would enjoy it, but let's not glorify it into something that it is not. |
|
Dictionary.com tends to disagree, saying the sport behind the name "football" has nothing to do with long haired euros crying their eyes out when they get kicked in the shin. Yes, as opposed to American Football, where they'restopping for a rest every twenty seconds and wearing full body armour like nancies. |

Hmmm. Are you sure it's that bad? Gamespot gave it a really high grade.

Personally, I have always prefered Phillips over Sony. I've never had any harsh feelings about Sony, though, and I still don't.
Edit: My 1000th post. And I wasted it on giving an opinion nobody cares about. Blech! |

He's from the Netherlands. Seriously - there is an entire continent out there called "Europe" being inhabited by people, most of which have (very fast) access to the internet. |

WW III: When will the draft begin in the US?

I have noticed that people (not only the original poster) often post about things they don't have a clue about. Or they're insanely biased without even knowing it due to years of subconscious indoctrination. Either way, leave global affairs to those who know more about than you do.

Nothing. He's from the Netherlands, and above the age of 18. It's perfectly legal for him to smoke. |

Sounds pretty much like Shadowbane. Even though I haven't played it myself, it might be worth a try.

Oof, and reduce the amount of time you spend just sitting behind your computer. One fun way to excersise is to buy a hometrainer and watch TV or computer monitor while using it. And stop the drugs, or at least majorly reduce it. I've seen so many good people in my class drop from gifted class to sub-average education due to the overuse of weed.
But the first step towards resolving a problem is admitting you have a problem, which you have just done. You've already completed step one, good luck with the rest! Try talking to qualified people and your parents, friends and family rather than strangers on a forum and it'll work itself out. Again, the best of luck. |

Which MMO race do you like best? (NOT CLASS but RACE)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/30/06 1:03:20 PM
Generally, I really like humans if the other races don't appeal to me. The most likeable non-human races I played were Zabrak (SWG), Undead (WoW), Dwarfs (WoW, and everywhere, really).

Heh, not a rumor. It has been confirmed numerous time - it'll happen at the release of the Burning Crusade.

Indeed, EVE was and still is a great game. Perhaps the corps I was in during the time I played were just wrong for me, I don't know. What I do know is that I did actually like the gameplay mechanics, except for the jumping (or rather, the waiting before docking) and the long time it took to take in loot. But that's not what this thread is about. I was kind of hoping to achieve that just a few people could stop being close minded about other people enjoying different MMOs. If that happens, then I felt it was worth posting this thread. Otherwise I'd probably end up being embarassed, heh. |

Dear everybody,
In the few years (active time and lurking time) I've been on MMORPG.com, I've seen almost nothing but flaming in the various topics. Lately, it's been mostly EVE players and those who apparently don't like EVE players to advertise their game. I just wish EVE players could stop posting things like "EVE requires a brain, which (insert MMORPG) players don't have." While I agree that EVE is much more complex the average MMORPG and attracts a more mature community as well, I do not at all agree with the notion that players of any MMO are somehow less intelligent. The most used example is World of Warcraft. I myself have played both, and I'm currently playing neither. The reason I stopped playing EVE is because I felt it was more like a chore than fun most of the time - but I can definitely see how others may find it fascinating and enjoy the things I find chores! Diversity in tastes is one of the things that make us human! At the moment, I'm actually not playing any MMOs at all. I found World of Warcraft to be too easy - although, again, I can effortlessly see why it is appealing to such a wide variety of people, and I do not think that intelligence is a factor in that at all. While I do not wish to brag, I find myself to be a pretty intelligent person - and do you know what my favourite multiplayer RPG has been so far? Yes, the most mindless item-grinding game in history - Diablo 2. I was simply fascinated by the rare items I could collect, and it even got me to start a collection of 'real world' rare 'artifacts' - military memoriabilia and an ancient Roman bronze ring, as the start of my collection. My second favourite multiplayer RPG has been Star Wars Galaxies, before all the game improving changes. While these changes definitely didn't enhance my gameplay, and that of thousands of other people, I feel it is simply wrong to bash people who do enjoy the game in its current state. Now, I'm not making myself out to be the Mother Theresa of the MMORPG world - I've both passively and actively 'defended' my MMORPGs of interest from rabid flamer to honest critic alike. I do regret that, especially defending myself against the latter. I just feel this forum, and ultimately everything, would be better if people would consider and accept the tastes of others, and rejoice in our diversity. Many of you have heard of the saying "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it!" - can't that apply to the MMORPG community too? I thank those of you read this. To those who read this and still flame on - well, I guess I'd be a hypocrit if I were going to bash you for that. ;) Thanks again, Michael |

People, I love pre-CU and hated the CU and NGE as much as you do. But so far, Obraik has been nothing but patient and friendly on these forums, as far as I've seen. If he enjoys the current game, why do you feel the need to slag him off for that? Live and let live, really. I've seen people liking worse games.

Aww, you're only allowing the Brits to have fun out of all the Europeans? I'm offended. :( |

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for
authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of
exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their

contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at
the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers." - Socrates (4 June, c.470 BC - 7 May 399 BC) Greek philosopher

While the game wasn't for me, if you're looking for a Mech-Fantasy hybrid, you should look into RF Online.
