I wouldn't bet on it, but it would certainly be nice. Bioware is on my top 3 list of game developers. I actually still play MDK2 from time to time :-) AFAIK, they're currently working on a new Sci-Fi RPG built with the Unreal Engine 3 for XBOX 360, but it has nothing to do with SW. They have a title that they've been working on for 3 years now called Dragon Age, think that might be the MMORPG in question(?) |

Voted Warhammer. Vanguard looks very interesting when you read the feature list and all, but personally I think it looks like EverQuest 2.5 - not that there's anything wrong about that, because I think EQ2 is a great game. Vanguard has the exact same look as EQ2, and though it's a matter of preference, it really turned me off. I like EQ2 a lot and still play it, but I really hate the graphics. It's hard to put into words, but everything just looks plain somehow. |

I haven't got to the point where I've actually bought a console yet, but I came THIS *holding thumb and index finger really REALLY close* close to buying an XBOX 360, simply because I was getting bored of EVE, EQ2 and WoW - the only MMOS I've found remotely interesting after DAoC "died" here in Europe. Oh yeah, a big "thank you" to mmorpg.com for the trash can option |

General: Reader's Choice: Finalist Voting Opens

The biggest surprise for me was that EQ2 didn't qualify for the PvE finals, and the fact that EVE Online did(!). I have nothing against EVE and I think it's superior in both graphics and PvP, but the PvE in this game is almost non-existent and certainly not very interesting. How the hell can anyone even think about voting for EVE in this category!? |

Whats your favorite Trek Episode?

TNG: I love "Best of Both Worlds". I absolutely hated that little annoying Commander Shelby, but in a good way :) Voyager: "Death Wish" and "The Gift". *edit* does anyone know who plays the Borg Queen? (one of my absolute favorite characters, she plays that role SO well). I think she looks a lot like the evil ice witch of the new "Narnia" movie. |

What class of ship would you like to serve on?

Intrepid class for me, I really love that design. I hope rescueing young female borg drones become a top priority for Starfleet in STO |

Sorry, but I cannot help but ask based on the above post: why not pick DAoC then if you cannot find a game to replace it? I experienced twice that all my friends left for other games (mainly WoW), and it was a strong demotivating factor for me. I did meet up with a few of them in WoW and we had great fun for a few months, but I simply got bored very quickly with the endgame content. Believe me, I tried picking up DAoC again, but the european servers are pretty empty. It's just not the same game anymore. I left DAoC about 2 years ago, and even back then there weren't too many players online except for weekends. |

Graphics: EVE Online - it's dated as hell, but still it looks awesome. With Kali out soon™, all competition will be eliminated in this category. PvE: Everquest 2 - it's a question of taste, but I personally haven't found any PvE that tops this. The amount and variety is superior. I had a hard time deciding between WoW and Everquest 2, but I think Everquest 2 is slightly better. PvP: EVE Online - I completely suck at PvP in any form, so it's not one of the deciding factors to me, when I go out and buy a new MMO. That said, the PvP I found most heartpumping was that in EVE Online. Story: Ryzom - By accident I chose Ryzom, but only because I didn't really know what else to vote. I don't care that much about lore. Most Anticipated: Star Trek Online - I'm a huge ST nerd and can't wait for this game. I follow the progress closely and I really like what I've seen and read so far. I think we will finally see a movie franchise game that doesn't suck. New Game: Guild Wars Nightfall - Well... I don't really like GW, but I can understand and appreciate why other people do. In my opinion, this is the only 2006 title that wasn't catastrophically bad. Favorite Game: Everquest 2 - To be honest I haven't found the perfect substitute for DAoC. I played DAoC for 2 years straight in 2 different guilds, and left when my 2nd guild died for Everquest 2 followed by WoW. I got bored of WoW after hitting 60 and found myself trying out several other games (AO, Ryzom, EVE Online, DDO, Coh/CoV, RF Online, Horizons, Auto Assault, GW and SWG). I haven't found the substitute for DAoC yet, but I find that Everquest 2 is the game I keep coming back to. I hope STO will give me what I'm looking for. |

Okay thanks guys, think I'll give it a try. I guess I don't have anything to lose with no monthly fee, and who knows? I might even like it :)

I tried this game at a friend's, and I don't really understand why it's so popular. My friend plays it a lot, and I'm considering to give it a try. But first, I would like to hear people's opinions about my major concern. When your character after just a few days is maxed out, what else is there to keep you playing? I mean, to me, this game seem so limited, I'm used to games where it takes months to reach the level cap. You guys just do the same dungeons over and over again? My friend says it's all about PvP, and that it's the best around, but is that really just it? Doing PvP arena matches over and over again? No matter how I look at it, the game appears extremely limited, but I'd like to hear the players thoughts - why are YOU so hooked on this game? PS: Please understand that this is not in any way meant as a criticism of the game. |

welcome to the "dark age" of the MMORPG industry...

Make way, fanboy coming through! I can't imagine STO will be "nothing more" than an Eve clone, mainly due to the fact that a big part of the game will take place on solid ground, and not aboard a starship. Eve doesn't have and most likely will never have this option. Also, controls will be very different. Not only can several people work together to fly a ship, but you will have an actual character that you move around all over the ship. One more thing that separates these 2 games and possible the biggest difference is, that Eve is focused on PvP, where STO will focus mainly on PvE, so the game will target a different audience. I think STO will have much more in common with SWG. This said, I do agree that many companies copy eachother's successes, rather than developing their own concepts, which is a sad evolution for us gamers. I for one, am growing tired of fantasy inspired mmos, as they are all way too similar and bring nothing new to the genre. I can't wait for games like STO (if it lives up to its vision) and PotBS, both games I think will add something new and different to the scene. |
