I don't like the idea of crafting armor/weapons. I think Crafting should be exclusively for augmenting/enhancing your armor and weapons. Leave the good loot for dungeons and quests. That's my opinion on the matter. |

You can't honestly expect this game (or any mmo) to pull the numbers WoW has. A MMO needs less then 100k subs to stay afloat (rough estimate). This is looking to be a really good game and all we can hope for is the best. I'm hoping it will at least reach the 1 million mark with subs. |

Huge open worlds do make the game feel immersive but it can also be tedious if you have to physically trek throught it everytime (especially if you've seen the area a hundred times). It also sucks to rely on other people as a means of transportation (mage teleport, druid spirit of the wolf [EverQuest]). Don't get me wrong, I love exploring new areas. But once I've seen it, I've seen it..know what I mean? |

Hype means absolutely nothing, I say do your own research. |

Top 5 PC Games To Look Forward To in 2011
General Gaming « General Discussion 8/24/10 10:46:21 PM
1. Diablo 3 2. Guild Wars 2 (looks better than the first one) 3. Fable 3 (the first two Fable were 'meh' but this one looks better) 4. Darkspore 5. Torchlight 2 (only because it's probably out before Diablo 3) |

I was already looking forward to Diablo 3 before this news, now I'm really looking forward to it. I especially like how you can salvage useless items you pick up to use for crafting materials & to save bag space. And you can use those materials to not only make things but level up your artisan. |

I think the lack of a meaniful and immersive story is what lacked most in Torchlight, not lack of multiplayer. Interesting that it releases in 2011, supposedly so does Diablo 3. |

Do single servers make more sense?

Do single servers make more sense?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/03/10 7:10:48 AM
Prime example is EVE Online but of course it's huge open space. But if you consider how smaller/older games have to constantly merge servers to maintain a healthy population. Wouldn't it makes more sense to have just one server for the entire player base from the very benginning? Now I know your first concern is LAG, but if it is done like City of Heroes it would be no problem. When a certain "zone" reaches too many players a duplicated zone is created to host more players. And everyone on your friend/guild list will always show up in the same zone.
Tell me what you think. Should new MMOs use one server? |

What are examples of non-repetitive gameplay?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/03/10 7:00:11 AM
All mmo game play is repetitive. What makes it fun is having interesting friends to play with and trying various group combinations. For example, in EQ1 I had a group that was nothing but mages. It was risky but everthing died insanely fast. Also, PvP is always unpredictable and fun. |

MMO gamers are not the same target audience as Farmville players. A typical Farmville player would not want to play a MMO that involves massive amounts of time invested (on a daily basis). So I don't see how this information could be very relevant. |

An observation on humanity via MMO's
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/26/10 10:50:45 AM
I think that most likely at least half those people aren't really stupid as you describe but are LAZY. Too lazy to research their class, too lazy to research boss fights, generally want to be carried, and/or are too bored to try hard all the time but they are still addicted to the game. And you could attribute such laziness to the overall grind that MMOs present. Just a theory. |
