Next WOW expansion and Diablo 3 release date are givens for Blizzcon. I also expect Starcraft 2 expansion to be announced.

I think they will tease Titan but nothing major - no trailers or footage. We may get genre and style of game. The details will be next Blizzcon I think.

Another wow expansion... really?

You didnt hear? Azeroth will be abliterated except for a little chunk of astroid that Goldshire will be sitting on.

And people will continue to "role-play" there.

You're right because $20 is all TL2 is worth.  It's the poor man's Diablo 3 :)

In your opinion.

With regards to Torchlight 2, a $20 price tag is a great deal for a game that in my eyes is worth over $40.

Diablo 3 on the other hand, I consider to be worth less than $30 due to all of the restrictions and annoyances that the game will include, so with a $60 price tag, I consider it a rip off. Especially so considering that Blizzard is adding in a system to milk players of more money, ontop of their already ridiculously inflated base cost of the game.

So call Torchlight 2 the "poor man's" Diablo 3 all you want. I'd rather buy that than be one of the people who pays for the "overpriced and feature incomplete" version of Torchlight 2

Wait so now you would pay over $40 for Torchlight 2??  Mind = blown.  I really think everyone in this topic is just a Blizzard hater in general.   I'm going back to Reddit where things make sense.

I'm surprised it got it's own forum considering it's not an MMO.

Doesn't really matter, cause its not like other MMOs are much different.  Mostly solo, and everyone gets funneled into instances to play in small groups...

As for the release date, I'm still banking on Feb 29th 2012, with an announcement at this year's Blizzcon!

Well I can't agrue with that, it's true.  I also agree with your estimation on the release date..considering their betas are 4-6 months.

After reading all of the information from this website: http://diablo3dungeon.com/ and watching several beta gameplay videos, it's apparent Diablo 3 is at least ten times better than D1 or D2 and will blow then living hell out of TL2.  IMO,  if you play TL2 over D3 you are settling for mediocrity (Torchlight 1 was boring as hell!).  Why are you guys so butthurt over online only (in this day and age) and the OPTIONAL rmah?  I really don't understand it.

You're free to have your opinion, just like we're free to have our opinion that Diablo 3 really doesn't look to add a whole lot to the Diablo franchise or action-RPGs in general. I've seen beta gameplay videos of Diablo 3 and it doesn't look any better than Diablo 2.

As for online only and the RMAH, they're irritations that affect my ability to enjoy the game. Sometimes I travel and don't have a constant or reliable connection to the Internet, but would still like to play a game. I'd be SOL with Diablo 3, Torchlight 2 on the other hand... As for the RMAH being optional, well so is playing Diablo 3, so yeah, I'll pass thanks.

Diablo 3 doesn't look to be worth $60 to me, so I'll save my money. Torchlight 2 on the other hand, looks to be worth more than $20,so I'll definitely pick it up.

Basic consumer economics.

You're right because $20 is all TL2 is worth.  It's the poor man's Diablo 3 :)

What I don't understand is why they've kept gold. Really, who is gonna sell things for gold on the AH when you can get a few bucks for it? Gold was worthless in D2, and it's going to be even more worthless in D3.

Ignorance is bliss.  Gold itself can be sold on the RMAH so of course it will be worth something.  Infact,  I believe there will be more transactions on the Gold AH then the RMAH.  Just because you can sell something on the RMAH doesn't mean someone will always buy it.

I'm surprised it got it's own forum considering it's not an MMO.  But whatever...can't wait for this game!

^ Good job not reading what the topic was about guy.

The isometric view is fitting for Diablo 3 because of the type of game it is - one where you are fighting hordes & hordes of demons.  To me you get a better view of the playing field.  However the 3rd person/1st person view that Skyrim has, is also great because it feels more immersive.  But then again you aren't fighting so many things at once.

that's a really poor interview considering Diablo three is a much much much more in-depth version of that game. It's like trying to compare an SUV to a small truck. Obviously Diablo three is and have a lot more features and if anybody thinks torchlight to will end up being better than Diablo three they're incredibly delusional.

Agreed.

You will need a max cap of say $20 a month or it will discourage people from even playing the game.

Except that would mean that a player has 20 lives per month in a game. Why would anyone deliberately play that game?

Pay X Company $20 a month to play an MMO where they have 20 lives for the entire month, or pay Blizzard, SOE, CCP, Square Enix, NCSoft, etc. $15 a month for unlimited lives? Pay money at all, or buy a copy of Guild Wars and have all the lives you need at no extra charge?

Paying per death will never work. There are too many options with set subscription fees or F2P models to make charging people for each death a recipe for instant failure.

I think what he means is you only pay $20 maximum per month but you still get as many 'lives' as you want.

Humorous idea.  How about $1 per death up to a maximum of $15 per month like the current model.  That way if you're good or play it safe you can get off cheap...but if you're reckless you're still only paying $15 per month.  But you still get as many lives as you want.

Imagine when the game was first released the entire world was primitive and somewhat barren.  Not a single building in the entire world...just trees, caves, mountains, lakes, oceans etc. and of course monsters.  Everyone starts off with basic crafting recipes and tools and from there you start chopping trees,  mining rock, coal etc.  and start constructing everything from the ground up.  You can choose to learn as many professions as your heart desires but of course you won't have time to do it all. And so this is where other players come in handy.  You form alliances and work together and soon you can have a whole town built.

But the world is dangerous and unforgiving,  soon monsters of various strength and skill start trying to raid your town and kill everyone.  You do your best to fend them off and continue to grow stronger.  You learn killing these monsters is valuable not only for your survival but because the secrets they share.  All of the magic spell and complex crafting recipes come from them. Not to mention the crafting materials they have.  None of the weapons & armor they have are particularly useful because they were broken after you beat them senseless.  No, everything useful in this game comes from crafting!

Ok this a idea off the top of my head (partly inspired from playing Minecraft).  I've contemplated if free for all PvP (with some kind of justice system or laws) would be feasible in this game.  Tell me what you think.

People seem to forget Diablo 3 is not an mmorpg.  It's a single player or co-op game with 4 players maximum depending on how you play it.  There is no competitve edge like you would normally see in an mmorpg.  It has been stated numerous times the game will not be balanced around PvP but rather to be a fun co-op experience.  I don't give a damn how the average Joe wants to spend his money,  because it has very LITTLE effect on me.  If anything, a player with bought gear will probably only make your runs a tad easier (if he/she isn't an idiot).

Secondly,  I really doubt most people are going to spend real $$ to gear up every slot on their character.  Most likely they will be missing that single peice of gear that makes up a whole Set and be left with two choices:  Farm it and hope you get it (1-5% chance) or go buy it with gold or cash.

Lastly,  Diablo 3 is free to play (after the intial box price),  there is no shame in Blizzard getting their cut off the RMAH to maintain the battle.net servers in which we will play on.   The rest of the money could go to releasing patches or developing the expansions.

@Homitu   You really have zero need to guage a player's "skill" by looking at their gear, ever.  All you need to look at is their Achievements.

Don't fool yourselves.

Due to the sheer increase in supply from everyone trying to sell, the average gamer will make little to nothing per hour of gameplay. If you think you can just play this game casually and make more than a few bucks a month, you're in for a big let down.

I think it really depends on what you're lucky enough to get.  Sure you won't make much on regular "rares" but if you get those Legendary items that have less than a 1% drop chance...you'd be surprised what it could be worth.

Info released a few days ago.

If by chance you haven't seen it yet.  I just watched it today.

Sorry if this is an old video (4/29/11) but I just watched it today and it's certainly peaked my interest for the game.
