I think the skill system combine with runes is incredibly awesome. You can build your character in like a billion different ways - and that's no exaggeration. The fact you can only use like 6 of them at a time doesn't bother me in the slightest. Don't like your skills? Teleport to town and swap them out, simple. Makes it to where you don't have to spend the time leveling up a new character which could be rather tedious. |

Will people actually play Hardcore because RMAH is denied there?
General Discussion « Diablo 3 2/02/12 9:36:42 PM
For those concerned about lag killing your hardcore character, you might want to read this: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Latency-Diablo-3-Action-RPG-PayPal-Auction-House,news-12526.html A summary: "According to the testers, Blizzard has developed a secure and tamper-proof method of client/server communication that allows the local client to handle its own calculations and send the data to the server for verification. Latency is eliminated because the client does not wait for the server to respond, but instead moves on as business as usual. However, the server inspects the data for tampering, and if it detects foul play, it will disconnect the player from the network." |

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/4387510/100000_Diablo_III_Beta_Invites-2_2_2012#blog I would imagine this means they are stress testing their servers. Hopefully, it's a sign of release soon! |

It's to prevent massive trolling. It's also easier for them to moderate what goes on their forums. Like the idiots who try to keylog you or advertise gold selling etc. It's not a bad idea really. |

Originally posted by Jimmac RMAH stands for Real Money Auction House. The hardcore characters won't be able to use it but they still will be able to use the Gold Auction House which is completely seperate from the RMAH. So your question is will people still play hardcore? Of course. Hardcore is not mainly about item finding, it's mainly about challenging yourself and getting an adrendaline rush when you are about to die. Personally, I will probably only do it if a few of my friends agree to do it with me for the fun of it. |

I think you only need to look at the example of Skyrim to know players still like open world sandbox games. Granted that is a single player game, but I'm certain if a good high quality AAA sandbox MMORPG were made the correct way there would be several thousand (if not more) people playing it. The problem lies in the creativity needed to make a good one and then having a very rich investor support your game for 4+ years of development. |

1. Did everyone forget Diablo 1 was on Playstation? 2. The console version of Diablo 3 will be designed differently from the "ground up". It will NOT be a fast port over from the PC. I mean stop and think about how slow Blizzard is with designing their games. |

Originally posted by Rhoklaw Meh. To me they are petty reasons to dismiss an awesome game. When I'm on my PC I'm online 100% of the time so the online thing doesn't affect me in the slightest way. And even if my internet goes down for a few hours I'm not going to cry like a baby. I don't need to be hooked up to the game 24/7. Go read a damn book or something people. The RMAH doesn't affect me either because I can choose to simply not buy anything from there (I could however sell things there. more money = good in my book). They are effectively shutting down those shady 3rd party website who were going to sell the loot anyway. |

Five classes is plenty. Diablo 2 releases with the same amount, then they added to more in the expansion. I'm sure they will do some similiar with D3. |

More reasons D3 is an improvement over D2... 1.) Shrine effects STACK! - No more difficult decisions of whether to take a Combat Shrine over a Fire Res Shrine, you get both shrines without having to min/max the timers. 2.) On a similar note you can see the duration of all your buffs at the bottom of your screen above your hotbars, not some ambiguous symbol that's hovering over your head without any duration timer. 3.) The map can be DRAGGED WITH YOUR MOUSE and re-centered with your right-click. No more tedious arrow keys and having to hit N to re-center. 4.) Teleporters exist at the end of every dungeon that return you to the entrance, a huge convenience factor for quick paced action. 5.) Monsters are unique, it does not feel monotonous, there's more strategy involved, especially with the new affixes that were added. Also some of the old affixes like "Teleporter" were left in as you probably know, but the mobs are definitely more frequent with their uses and make more intelligent decisions in how to use their inherited abilities. 6.) NOT HAVING TO WASTE SCROLLS OF ID ON MAGIC ITEMS! 7.) The sound effects especially are just phenomenal, very crisp sounding and seems to mesh well with the environment, normally I wouldn't bring up something so trivial, but the Youtube videos you may have watched even in HD, definitely don't do them justice. 8.) Again as you knew, monsters now actively spawn, something you seldom saw in Diablo II except for a few events like Blood Raven, Baal's Minions at the Throne, but even then those were predictable. As a D2 vet, this is something that caught me by surprise, still easy to manage at this stage, but I can foresee many scenarios on Inferno difficulty where the player will get easily overran from new spawns. |

Originally posted by nsch This is pure speculation. Noone really knows how long it will take to hit the cap. You must also consider Normal mode Act 1 is intended to be a walk in the park. As you progress through the acts and into Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno it will take more planning & strategy to kill the packs of mobs versus just wading through them. |

"Does any1 know about reseting skill so you don't need to lvl 2 or 3 char to have the different build and level them again?" You can go to town and swap out your skills at any time. There will be no need to level up a new character of the same class. |

Originally posted by William12 1. You don't know how many internal testers they have and for how long they have been testing it. 2. It's an online only game, know what that means? Patches. They can release any number of patches to fix bugs that they somehow missed. Would probably not even take an hour to download any given patch either. |

What class do you see yourself playing at launch? Bonus question: Are you going to tank, dps, or heal? |

"...greater the opportunity to also generate income and have a long tail behind Diablo"
General Discussion « Diablo 3 11/23/11 4:25:59 PM
"Profit" is very vague. The profit they make from the RMAH will be extremely minimal compared to the profit they make from box sales and WoW subs. Probably just enough to help with server maintenance on battle.net which is a free of charge service for hosting Diablo & Starcraft games. Another thing people seem to forget. |
