People who pay that kind of money for a ship in a video game are insane.

We are talking about a company that milks a game as nothing but a cash cow and then abandon's it. HiRez is a bad bad gaming company. I would not trust them with my money, nor will I ever play another game of theirs.

Signed

A pissed off Tribes:Ascend player.

Turned off the trailer the moment I saw a sword larger than the developers ego.

Not only was the sword large, but it got larger when he pulled it out. LOL

Ok I am actually impressed. Now that is how you make a flucking trailer.

Some of those skills have some very unique animations. I love it.

I played PvE on high settings and WvWvW on low settings with an AMD Six Core Processor and a GTX 545 graphics card. You will be fine.

I can vouch for the population of Guild Wars 2 doing well, but unfortunately for NCSoft it looks like not many of those people are spending money.

They need to make a change, this living story isn't going to cut it if they want to make more money.

Megaservers, equivalent revenue of a 450k sub game... revenues that consistently decline.. and all you have is made up numbers that you say "whatever" about even though they are the very foundation of some of your arguments, when they are proven to be sketch and unreliable... lol...

And the consequences of that are?

Players experience a well populated and active game.

Content development is ongoing and released regularly.

Cash shop is tame and without any pay to win or no "must buy".

None of the top people of Anet left.

The consequences seem to be a game that generates revenue similar to a game 10 years ago might?  Which isn't the greatest return on investment?

It's so weird... people like you use the server merging thing as signs that other games are dwindling, before gw2 adopts it, but then when gw2 adopts it it's a brilliant feature... i wonder if you are biased?

The content gw2 has released since launch isn't up to par with what the big games are doing... hence the decline in revenue...

Actually the cash shop is pay to win... you can literally buy power through boosts, buy legendaries by spending enough money on gems... etc etc...

Actually most of the people that worked on gw1 are gone from anet... that's according to a QA lead that worked for the country... which means it's more credible than any notion you have.

boost that dont work in wvw or spvp so what do you win exactly and yes you can buy legendarys becouse other people are selling them not arena net them selfs.

And legendarys are the same power as ascended that you can craft yourself ( only good about legendary is the skin and that you can switch stats if you want to make another build)

So you can buy the best gear in the game?  Sounds pay2win to me...

Oh you dont know what pay to win is, I understand now mate and will explain.

Its when you buy stuff thats better then the best gear in game and win since the other guy only got the best gear in game.

Edit

And why should you care if he buy or play up to best gear in game since the game is,

A pve the guy helps you out ( he cant hurt you in any way)

B Spvp gear dont matter there all got best gear

C WvW good luck finding a 1 vs 1 were he may be able to beat you, depending on if your equaly skilled. ( if you aint, either your skill will trumph his gear or his gear will just make his skill kill you abit faster)

Any time you've purchased the best gear in the game it is pay2win.  Nuff said... white knight all you want... try to make all the irrelevant arguments you want... still pay2win....

I mean people wanna make up farfetched reasons to justify any bad signs within gw2, it's almost as if they believe the game is immune to major flaws... must be why the revenue is so large right? :wink wink:

Kinda like megaservers are death for all other games, but when gw2 does it they are brilliant and amazing and not a sign of populations shrinking...

Pay to win is pay to win... period

No pay to win is a game like Knight Online where I can buy actual items in the Power Up Store that give me more HP and Defense as well as buying items that sell for tons of gold to buy the best items. You can buy Pots that vie twice as much healing with real cash that can't be earned in game.  Played that game for years and Paid to Win quite often. Spent over $1000 in that game to get the best gear. Sold the account for even more than that because other people wanted to Pay to Win.

There is a gigantic difference between Pay to Win and Guild Wars 2. It's not even close to Pay to Win.

I ll be getting it for the weekend but guys wanna ask you does it have enough content to keep me busy :D i havent played gw2

More than enough content to keep you busy. Map completion alone will take you quite some time, especially if you are new to the game.

I don't get why some are so obsessed with expansion and that the game will be doomed without one. Clearly Arenanet have chosen another path to keep the game alive, and has proven to have worked despite what some have claimed.

The game is still very much alive. Today in my guild there where just as many online as 1 year ago and there even more players in the lower level area I was playing today.  Yes, megaserver helps.

Be prepared that they wont make any expasion ever and still some years before it dies.

I am not saying the game is dead, I love the game and I have nothing else to do in this game, there are no new dungeons, classes, weapons and so on. The living story part is through in a day and then there is just another grind. I have about 2000 hours in the game and I think it's the best mmo I have ever played but now there is nothing to look forward to.

I love the living story but if you look at the content it has updated on a permanent basis over 2-3 years it's like noting at all.

I would love to pay for an expansion with new stuff without it what am I supposed to do, all dungeons done like a hundred times, wvw alot and spvp aswell crafting maxed out, I lvl 80 of every char.

When all is done, what is left? farm gold? more legendarys? doing dungeons to get 1 gold? I just don't know what to do thats why I need an expansion insteed of just living story.

I am not saying that this game will be dead within a year or anything like that and I am not a doomsday kind of guy but for me the game will be dead and that's the part that sucks.

That is what PvP and WvWvW are for. If you have conquered the entire game than good for you, you got your $60 worth of entertainment and then some. You're expectations are way to high. At the point you are at you either PvP and try to become the best or you go find a new game so you can conquer the meaningless content of a video game.

But I don't want a new game thats the problem, there is no mmo out there that I want to try at all.

I would suggest you seek out a real WvWvW guild that takes the war serious. I've had a ton of fun doing that and joining teamspeak. A lot depends on your server too. I'm on Fort Aspenwood and we have many many guilds in the same teamspeak all working together to try to win.

You missed the point all together.  The list was just an example.  It's what the company is doing that matters.  They are not extending the game.  They are simply adding and removing content.  There are a lot more things that they could be adding to the game to make it appeal to a more broad customer base.  That's the point.

With ArenaNet sticking to their own vision to what they believe is fun in their game, they will miss out on having more customers play their game.  The game isn't doing fine at all based on what they are doing to try to get more income.  They are hurting.

In one corner we have Prepared.

In the other corner we have NCSoft.

NCSoft just fired people across all of its West business, 60 people were laid off on Carbine alone.

All of its West business except... Arenanet.

NCSoft is ruthless and quick to act.

And here it is, Arenanet, a company that grew from 150 people at the beginning of GW2 development into a 250 people studi by the time GW2 released to 350+ people nowadays, was left untouched.

But Prepared here knows Arenanet is hurting...

LMFAO pwned.

I was seriously considering to purchase this game.  But after reading all of the fans of the game state the obvious without anything concrete to remain playing, I have have decided to give this game a pass.  Obviously the business model the company had for the game has changed since release.  In order for ArenaNet to get a return on their development costs, they've had to make changes.  Originally their plan before the game was released was to have copies of the game and shop items continue to sell as they continued to develop new content.

This year the game has gone on sale four times.  The price of the game was reduced and then half price sale is on now.  Right now is the lowest you can purchase the game until Nov 9, 2014.  That tells me they aren't doing too well especially given they merged everyone into a mega-server earlier this year.  Coupled with charging for content missed tells me the company, ArenaNet is in trouble.  If things went as planned from release they wouldn't have to do that.  The problem is that less people are playing the game than the company anticipated.  Some refer to this as a failed game.

What I personally see is that the company wants people to play their game how they want the people to play it.  They don't open it up to everyone's play style.  The MMO with the most players is the one that allows players to play with many different ways and many things to do.  This game has things locked down where you can't do things as freely as you can with other MMOs in the genre.  This game was given the highest marks of any MMO released in the last few years by the media yet people aren't flocking to play it because it doesn't have a lot of things to do as other MMOs available today.  It also lacks a lot of features that are in other MMOs by default.

NCSoft just went on a firing spree of their teams and  employees and not one person from Anet lost a job. You need to do your research, because that alone says the game is doing fantastic.

F2P games are trash.

GW2 is an ok online single player game but it's a crappy MMORPG, so why bother?

That's funny because I don't ever play the game by myself. Seems it's the #1 MMORPG at the moment.

The things people cry about these days are just crazy. Do people not understand that they are a business. They don't just pump shit out for free for you to play for 10 years.

I haven't spent a dime other than the box price and I'm playing it for free because I'm loyal to the game. If you aren't loyal to the game then cough up the cash. It's that simple.

Try playing the MMORPG with people like you are supposed to. I have already mailed gold to 3 guildies so they could open the new content.

Guild Wars 2 is on sale for half price right now. Has excellent PvP large scale and small scale.
I wish this game had player trading as well. I hate auction houses.

You can pretty much spec a full healer as a Guardian and it is A LOT of fun. I'm mainly Warrior in every MMO I play, but I also enjoy the Priest/Healer classes when I want a change.

Look up a Full Healer/Tank/Support Guardian build and roll it. You will be suprised how much you help others and they don't even know it. LOL

There is no glory nor rage against the healer like in other games. That's why I love it. I can quietly support and keep my party alive in WvWvW and they have no clue how many times I have saved their life. It makes for great fun.

Pretty happy with Guild Wars 2 at the moment again, but currently waiting on the full release of DayZ Standalone. Bought the Alpha already and have put in 600+ hours, but I don't plan on touching it again until full release. Gonna be an epic game when finished.

I just switched to Fort Aspenwood and joined a guild called FARM and its awesome. They do everything the game has to offer so your never playing alone.

Also, FA has great guilds in World vs World so you can get in teamspeak and really try to make a difference in the battles.

i stopped playing this game awhile ago. Got 4 toons to max level, built a legendary - but most of the effort involved was early on when you could actually find mats in game in sufficient quantity to make it a grind but a reasonable grind.

Slowly, over time, anet has nerfed all rewards to the point I don't see how anyone could actually farm enough to make a legendary. So its all a cash grab now, and I'll wager many of the legendary on the AH are either from anet-owned accounts or from a guild who has a master crafter, have been funneling all their mats to this 1 toon, and this guy make the stuff.

The cash shop has been out of control for many months. Nicer looking stuff costs real $ - the stuff we can get in game is often a lot uglier. This new thing with gems is just another example of anet trying to milk this sucker for all its worth.

Add all of this plus the temp content and the recycled content and the insane content that requires 100+ people to coordinate to achieve something... yeah, game lost its appeal for me quite some time ago.

I don't know if you are joking, but I made my legendary early as well and it was much harder to find T6 mats back then. Hell I get 20 t6 mats a day now just doing the World Event train. I wish it was this easy back at launch. We must be playing a different Guild Wars 2.
