I checked the website where I pre-ordered and some others but they still have May 23th (I live in Europe) as the release date. So I think WalMart is indeed 'shafting' you.

I'm currently listening to the 90 minutes interview. I'm at 28 minutes but the designer has already said 'and what not' for 25 times, haha, cracks me up. Good interview tho'.

I'm also waiting for a Betakey but I've given up hope already. I think they have all the testers they need. Plus I'm also devided about whether to participate in the CB/OB (if invited) since Beta experiences could ruin the game for me. I wouldn't like that since pre-ordered the CE-edition and paid 100% in advance. But my guess would be that as soon as I get a key I'll be dancing on a table and going to start testing as soon as the game is installed.

I'm reading these Forums for only one thing: to get my daily dose of AoC. Since I can't get the real thing yet (the game) I'll just have to make due with the next best thing: the AoC forum, hehe.

Aquilonian Ranger. I just love the fact that Ranger can use all the new features in AoC. Real time blocking, real time hitting with a sword AND ranged.

Does anyone know yet if the $5 for the Game Client can be paid with iDeal/ClicktoBuy or something like that? I'm sure I'm not the only one without a creditcard.
I've pre-ordered but not being able to play the 3 days early would suck if it would just be because of not being able to pay for the Client.

And you base this on? Stop trolling the AoC forums, this is not the first negative post from your side. If you have something to say, at least back this up with a link. Otherwise stay away from the AoC Forums.

In general: I'm getting sick and tired of hearing all these negative non linked crap. Why don't people (especially trolls) get a life?

From what I can see I very highly doubt there will be an open beta. Your open beta will be the 3 day pre-order play time. If they do an open beta it will just turn off most of those people to the game as many many many of the promised features are not in the game atm. No crafting (which means no player cities), no border kingdoms (which means no PvP), no spell weaving, Just a zone fest with lots of quests atm. The game will release extremely unfinished and get vanguard reviews.

I'm gonna assume you're also talking about the release. Meaning all those features you mentioned won't be in starting May 20th. If you didn't mean that, then I apologize in advance for the following:

STOP TROLLING! I have faith in the Devs and I believe they will not let their fanbase down by simply releasing a game where you can Quest and nothing else. This would be nonsense because we all know hardcore players will reach level 40 within a week. Meaning they'll be demanding Mounts, Crafting and Guild Cities at least. They can't afford it to NOT put in those things at the release. So let's all stop the negative rumors and just wait and see.

I pre-ordered the CE-edition and had to pay 100% of the price in advance so releasing AoC in the state you described would just make me go mental. So no offense if I sound kinda crazy but I like my money (I work hard for it) and I won't let it be blown to bits. I need positive news about the game to keep my spirits up!

Open beta at this point would be kinda....well, stupid...its so close to release

That's got to be one of the stupidest things I've read in awhile.

Open betas are always immediately before release!  Usually only a few weeks long to stress the server architecture to find any capacity issues.

ahh my bad. but its going to be released in just over a month. if they were going to do a test as such, wouldnt it be better to do that earlier? and spend the last 2 months or so in a closed beta with people digging for bugg's?

OMG Joshua you are so misinformed. How long has this closed beta been going on for now? Like a year now. Haha

Sheesh. Lighten up people. It's April's Fools. Why do some people have to turn even this into a bash-festival?

Because some people are apparently bored out of their mind and need something to whine about. Just let that Troll go back to his cave and let us continue the laughter BTW I HATE Elves, so sue me!

I pre-ordered the CE-edition and I personally can't wait to start playing the game. It doesn't matter if it's CB, OB or the actual release as long as I can play. I simply have been waiting for too long and the sooner I can play, the better.

Got some information from the store I pre-ordered the game today about how the pre-ordering works out. (europe)

On a later stage you will recieve a pre-order code. Then you can download the pre-release game (15gb) 6 days before the launch but you can only play it 3 days before launch. This version will not work after release so you have to install the game with the dvd that will be sent too you on release day. You will also have the characters you play with on the release day.

Also Funcom will take 40 norwegian Kroner (around 7 dollars, might be cheaper for US based ppl) for the download of the  pre-release version which you pay via creditcard, but you will recieve 10 days of gametime so it will basiacially  even out.

Hopefully this information is helpful for some of you out there.

Thanks for the information. I do have 1 question tho'. You mentioned paying the download fee with a creditcard, but I don't have one. Does anyone know if I can pay through iDeal or ClicktoBuy (using an e-dentifier)? Otherwise I'd be royally shafted.

The first MMORPG I got really hooked on was WoW. A friend introduced me to it (bought me the box for my B-day). Before I knew it I was playing 5+ hours a day. Sometimes 19 hours on a day off.  But a year ago I simply got tired of the game. I have tried almost all of the MMO's listed by this website, but none of them could really capture me or put me in 'addictive mode'. I really feel like AoC will be the game that will be able to make me an addict again. It might sound like I'm a no-lifer but I really missed the feeling. Plus I now have too much time on my hands and NO I don't feel like picking up a hobby, hehe.

So what am I looking forward in AoC the most? I listed a couple of things:

1. Guild Cities: Being able to create your own city with a group of friends just sounds awesome. Everyone on Ventrillo and just hanging out casually killing some NPC attackers or just drinking beer telling stories in the City Tavern. I now realise what I missed the most after leaving WoW: the community and the friends I made. So I'm looking forward to playing with my Guild creating some nice memories.

2. Of course the new combat system: I'm a person who thinks skill should define a good player and not gear. I especially like the fact (this has been confirmed in one of the interviews) that a group of 5 people who are skilled can defeat a group of 8 to 10 people with less skill. I realise this is all promotional talk and we'll have to see how much skill will matter and gear won't.

3. The realism of AoC: I like things to be as close to reality as possible. I simply dislike the Orcs and the Elves because my mind just keeps telling me "It's completely fake! Elves DO NOT EXIST!" So yeah the realism in AoC does a lot for me.

4. The PvP Sieges: Assuming (!) they will pull off the giantic battles I will be most impressed. Simply because I have never seen a game with battles of that size. Also, because of the combat system it will not be a ZAP and DIE fest like in WoW (for example a Rogue 1-hitting a Mage), but a more 1 on 1 battle that can take at least more than 5-10 seconds. I feel that the battle will strongly resemble battles you see in Braveheart for example and that's just plain awesome.

5. The Mounts: Again the realism plays an important role. Camels, Horses, Rhinos and Mammoths: they all existed at some point in time or still do. It's so different from the Mounts you see in for example WoW. This really appeals to me. Plus I like the size of the mounts. A Mammoth for example; it might be the biggest mount I've ever been on (once I've gotten to ride it ofcourse).

To conclude this rant I would like to state that all of the above is purely my view on the game. Nothing of it should be taken as an insult or whatever. I was just trying to let out my personal hype for AoC and I hope someone had fun reading it.

*Jaw drops* What the hell? I'd MUCH rather have a horse then! Guess I'm gullible because I was actually happy when I heard about the Rhino coming with the CE-edition. Have to wait a month or more to actually ride the damn thing and only in a certain area. Can it get any more lame?

LMAO. Entertaining roleplaying story, but does it have anything to do with the Topic?
