@ Seen: I was talking about the people who were extremely aggressive against wow gamers - "screw" part in my first post - not the ones who were "innocently" criticizing the the game itself. I am pretty sure that you never, but never, called somebody "sucker" just because he or she was playing wow. My humble attempt was to shed light on the motivation behind those people's senseless attitudes, not to make a huge generalization for all wow-quiters. Sorry, if my post did make any of you think such a thing.

To me, bashing wow is no different from bashing anything else popular. For some people, it comes, consciously or unconsciously, from the ultimate need to be distinct from masses. Whenever masses stick to a trend, a group of people is always there to draw their difference from those by indicating the fact that they are not band-wagoning and plus, worst of all, bashing those people who stick with the trend. They enjoy the very feeling that they are different. It does not really matter whether their humiliation does count for anybody. We are talking about a sudden rise in oneself by pushing others below. And what is more, according to them, their difference implies as if they are expert on that issue, or in other words, as if they have a more delicate taste on that particular thing. Here the "thing" is mmorpg. Yet to me their yellings are no different from the ones coming out of the mouth of some metal-fans against popular music. I see the fanatics of a music type bashing fans of the popular type, just because as if popular one is always supposed to be inferior even if it is not. Briefly, domesticate your ego people. The mmorpg you play does not really contribute to your so called "unique" identity, even though you suppose it does. Edit in Advance: Addressee of my words is only the ones who do not hesitate to screw wow-gamers. And of course there are some other who are calm, but still think in this way. The point is they at least respect people and their choices. Maturity is the gold.

I have the same exact problem. Now, thanks to this site, I know it is not only and because of me. That is something, isn't it? |
