Recently, LotRO had server wide quests requiring 70,000 pieces of "ring lore" to be recovered and returned to Rivendell so as to unlock the final epic quests.  I believe it is reasonable to assume that the larger population servers finished first and lesser population servers finished last.    Based on the foregoing, the largest US servers are Brandywine,  Landroval and Elendelmir.  These 3 servers finished first and within a few days of each other.

Also, during the recent "welcome back" weekend, Brandywine had queues to get into the game.  I can only imagine that this will get worse when Mines of Moria is released.  So, while Brandywine may be the largest population server, you may want to pick one that is a little less populated now.   Also, you should keep in mind that a larger population server makes it more difficult to harvest resources as you have more competition for those resources.

I played AoC beta and canceled before I had to pay for a month.  Maybe I'll go back, maybe I won't.  Nevertheless, the Bear Shaman and Assassin were taken almost directly from Guild Wars.  Conquerors, were, if I recall correctly, just another melee class.     However, the fatality animations were good, especially with the robe wearing 2-handed weapon using mage class.  Decapitations were fun, the first few hundred times.  (I forget the name of the class.)

To the OP:

Are you playing on American, Asian or Euro districts?  If you are playing Asian or Euro districts, try the American districts.  They are hugely more populated districts.  And, I am sorry that you choose not to do the missions with people from your guild because they are maxed out.  It, unfortunately, is a common occurrence in established MMOs (no flames please as to whether GW is a true MMO), that when you first start playing 3+ years into a game's release that you are going to find a disproportionate number of "end-game" players vis-a-vis newbies.

And, as to pvp play, do not be afraid to adverrtise that you are looking for a pvp training guild.  They are numerous and will teach you how to pvp effectively.  Unfortunately, you are not going to find a r9+ HA guild recruiting newbies.  But, the odds are greatly in your favor in finding a training pvp guild.

Good luck and good hunting.

A:  The rest of them.

To you people who cannot imagine why Hello Kitty would put an MMO ...  there are tons of girls who do not currently MMO.  This is a chance to get them hooked on the genre.   I thought we were all capitalists on these boards ... you guys should have figured that out already.

Neither one of them...You forgot to add GW.

I'm on the fence on weather GW is skill based or not.

you just get skills you dont train them put 8 on action bar thats it.

True skill based is through progressing, through advancment in the game and train all kinds of skills you gain more powerfull attacks or other upgrades so you become stronger not through lvls or just buy a skill and click it in your action bar  to activate skill hehe.

The only games of any sort that I am aware of that has the level progression you seek are the Elder Scrolls games, Morrowind and Oblivion.  Too bad that Bethesda has repeatedly stated that they will never make an Elder Scrolls MMO.

"Lotro is a fine game. But given that you left Lotro to try out Aoc, tells us something, you were tired of Lotro and wanted something new."

It wasn't so much that I was "tired of Lotro", but, I must admit, I got caught in the hype for AoC (a mistake I will not make again).   Just because you like prime rib doesn't mean you are abandoning it because you wanted to try the rack of lamb.  In this case the rack of lamb (AoC) was undercooked, ill-prepared and served up by moron waiters (FailCom).

and yet dear Mr. OP you post this posts anyways...

What really is interesting is the Blizzard'hs chairman was out saying that yes, we do see people leaving to try out AoC, 40% of them returns to us. That actually means that 60% doesnt return but stay in AoC. Thats a lot. Funcom must have done something right in that game.

Not at all.  Just because 40% of the playerbase return to WoW doesn't mean the other 60% percent will stay with AoC.  Quite of few of them migrated to EQ2, LoTRo, or simply quitting mmo all together.

I seriously doubt that is the case. They might have stopped playing in anticipation of Warhammer, but going back to EQ2 or Lotro, would be such a step backwards that you might as well calculate them totally out of MMO's industry numbers.

I, and a lot of others, went back to LotRO, after the AoC debacle.  Why is it a step backwards to go back to a game you enjoyed?  Just because I wanted to try out AoC does not mean that there was, or is, anything wrong with LotRO.  Like any other game, some are going to like it, and some aren't.   The fact that you referred to a return to LotRO as "such a step backwards" indicates you do not like LotRO.  So be it.  But, do not assume that because others return to a game YOU do not like means they are stepping backwards.  Besides, how do you know they have not "stopped playing [AoC] in anticipation of " Mines of Moria?

The last MMORPG that I quit was Age of Conan.  Do I really have to answer "why?"

Thanks to everyone who tried to hijack this topic by making it about:

1.  perfect grammar

2.  perfect spelling

3.  proper use of apostrophes

4.  leetspeak

5.  whether I am a grammarian, elitist, or otherwise flexing my linguistic acumen

6.  WoW

However, I was only complaining about stupidity.     I couldn't care less whether people use perfect grammar,  spell correctly or properly use apostrophes, commas, semi-colons, etc.   The issue I was trying to address is the fact that it appears many people do not know that there is a difference between they're, their and there or other assorted homonyms, and it is pissing off those of us who do.   To me, it is a form of intellectual laziness; and, for those who adhere to that form of laziness, good luck finding a job in the real world.  I used to hire for a company and the gross linguistic mistakes found in job applications was a neverending source of humor.

and the lesson continues:

IV  It's "would have" not "would of".  What the heck does "would of" mean anyway?

But, as my detractors have asserted, it is permissible to use lazy language in anonymous forum posts.   Why is that?   When did it become the societal norm to decide that using correct English is just too much of an effort? (I am not speaking of people who speak English as a 2nd or 3rd language.)   I point the finger of blame at word processing spell checkers.  With their advent it no longer mattered if you could type or spell correctly, so people tended not to put much effort in learning how to do it.

Part III:  its v. it's

its = belonging to "it"

it's= contraction for "it is"

And, for those of you who think this is not such a big deal ... I'd love to see your first 50-100 rejected job applications.

I.   Your  vs  you're

your = belonging to you

you're= contraction for "you are" ( and is different from "your")

These words are not interchangeable.

II.  There vs they're vs their

There = a different place from the one you currently occupy

They're= contraction for "they are"

Their= belonging to them

These words are not interchangeable.

I despise illiteracy or intellectual laziness.  Get it right before your high school English teachers slap your parents.   It takes less than one minute to proofread (you internet generation dancing monkeys might have to look that one up) a post.  I'm not talking about typos here ... I'm talking about selecting the correct word in the first place.  And, please, do not give me that "you know what I mean" crap.  You can point to your mouth and rub your stomach and I know you are hungry ...  But it's still not English.

Based on the charts set forth herein, it appears (and is somewhat satisfying to this old campaigner) that after 3 years on the market, Guild Wars is still more popular than any of the other games for which statistics were provided.  There's a reason for that.  Guild Wars is a lot of fun to play, whether or not you consider it to be a "true" MMO ( and I am not looking for a flame war on this issue.)

After reading all the posts regarding the state of AoC, good and bad (I assume that you have), why would you bother using the buddy key?   Do you like slamming your head into a cinder block wall?   The "ginormous" download is only the first obstacle you'll face.  (I don't care how fast your connection is, a 2+gig download still is a PITA)

To the OP:

It seems to me that only a misogynist racist would even bother to ask the question.   What is the purpose of including the language you want in the game?  Does it enhance gameplay?   Or, do you just like having a foul mouth behind the anonymity of the Internet?
