Its not a MMO, but I think you should definatley give this a look.

http://www.age-of-chivalry.com/media.php

Its a FPS and its medieval...just not an MMO, ive had a ton of fun playing it tho

Edit:  OH and its free...

I think it would be pretty cool to do it for all dungeons/raids ever made...

Much like Onyxia/Naxx....

Everything I see from the game is absolutely gorgeous.  Its a shame though, that ND seems to have decided to rebuild the core of the game.  I just wish they would send out some more info, not just some screenshots every now and then.

Yeah at one point i was REALLY looking forward to it, but the lack of information coming out has made me lose interest...

After a bad experience with Sony and then what they did with SWG, I'll probably never play another game by Sony again. I know this doesn't add to your discussion, but you posted in  General Discussion, so my apologies in advance.

SOE isnt great......glad we share the same opinion.

Heh, could only post in general or guild chat, so idk

I tried it a lonnnggg time ago and couldnt get over the animations and various bugs (you all know what im talking about)

Anyways I would like to retry the game because im looking for something with great depth (player housing, owning a boat, decent crafting, taming mounts...dungeon crawling)

Is it safe to say this game is the closest thing to a modern day UO?

Thanks!

Sorry, but I think a Mass Effect MMO would be better :-P!

Genre needs more sci-fi options....

But I do <3 dragon age

The Chronicles of Spellborn - Freemium

Tf2- FPS

Company of Heroes - RTS

Cool, I am not going to play any other MMO besides WoW until this is released.... Because frankly everything else has dissapointed me.

You can solo the whole way if you want although it might be slow and very painful like a colonoscopy if you were awake.

^this literally made me LoL

And improve these things ever the original game:

  • Possibly a new universe (I liked PS's universe alright, but I think a WW2 or Modern War atmosphere appeals to more people.  Then again, sci-fi is still really damn rare among MMOs so sticking with that theme may well work out.)
  • Tighter FPS look/feel.  This was one of the shaky points of the original.
  • More varied bases.  This was one of the worst parts of the original.

  • I liked the Sci-fi, but i wouldnt mind playing a modern combat one.  I think the WW2 shooter genre is kinda overkill, so many games are based in WW2.
  • I AGREE!! That always bugged me, i mean they had cone of fire, but thats about it.  Also i dont like the 10+ shots it takes to kill someone with ranged guns (Gauss anyone?).
  • Yeah, so true, u can only hack the same style base before it just gets old....

Other things I would love to see

  • Completely urban maps (more dense than open fields).  Not like cavern urban either.  Cities etc with cap points.
  • Smoother vehicle movements.
  • Destructible enviroments??  If possible
  • Team fortress 2 medic system lol.
  • Specialization armor.  Ex.  Medic will look like a medic, Engineer will look like a engineer.  Depending on certs maybe?
  • Sea combat and the ability to swim!!!

Idk just some ideas, cant think of anything else really

Saw this and wanted to try it....

Didnt know they had a demo out :-D

Thx man

It doesn't matter what you can get done in two months. You shouldn't have to play a MMO for 6 months before it becomes fun. Usually you should find the fun and magic of the game within the first few weeks.

I really am annoyed with all this "oh you hafta play for a few months before you really can enjoy the game" or " You gotta get past level 20, 30, 50 before the game really becomes fun." Why should I need to grind and be bored for months before the game is fun? It should be as exciting at the beginning as the end.

I have have tried to lower my standards. I will now try anything that doesn't try and emulate WoW...tho those games are too few.

I agree.  If a game isn't fun on day one, I'm not playing anymore.  I'm not paying my dime to have fun sometime in the future, I want to have fun now.  They need to earn my subscription money every single month.  If they don't, then that money is going to stop flowing.

I refuse to lower my standards.  I want to enjoy what I enjoy.  If no one can offer what I enjoy, then I guess I'll have to stop playing MMOs entirely and go do something else.  It doesn't bother me a bit.

Agreed, if anything day 1 of the game should be the most fun, because it has the newness effect.

Its because it feels like you have already played the game before....

Nobody is offering anything new to the genre.

Back in the old days it was all about INNOVATION!

Build your own city, intense crafting systems... etc.

What we need *is a new UO.

I discovered this show a few  days ago!  SOOOO FUNNY highly recommendedv

I agree

and LOL at mech warriors! I was like holy crap its gundam wing online!  But yeah im lvl 19 now, quests are so mindless and people dont really talk to u that much, kinda bored with it already, not a good sign.

Okay so this thread is pointless....

Please go troll somewhere else!

Oh and is my font hard to read???????  Jackass

Frankly. But I'm known to have serious problems with most varieties of stylization and technical minimalism.

Agghh!!

2. LOTRO so much hawter
3. Vanguard
4.  Aion?
5.  D&D Online
6.  Warhammer online is a joke for graphics
7.  WoW despite it looking cartoony has some amazing art direction.

...wait having stupid quests is a new thing to MMOs?  As i recall almost every MMO since Ultima Online has had this

WoW stupid quests to cover the "grind"/ EQ had stupid quests to cover the "grind"/ SWG had stupid quests to cover "grinds"/ LOTRO has stupid quests to cover the "grind"... I could go on and on but u get the picture.  Quests are to fill the "grind", its the reason many people dont even bother to read the actual quest, just the objective.  GG

Ohhh btw come on Bioware to provide a good story based MMO where you actually want to do the next quest...

hope thats not what your hoping for in SWTOR cause your probably gonna be mad

Oh, have u beta tested it?? No?? Then dont act like u know how the game is going to turn out...

Bioware has always delivered great story RPG's, just because it has MMO on the front of it doesnt mean it will be a mindless quest system.  In fact by having it already full voiced it has made the quests much more interesting to me.

Initially, SWG did not have quests for the "grind".

When it launched, there were no levels, just skills to get xp in.

There were mission terminals, but until they started paying out based on the group size, they were largely ignored.

Now there are levels and I presume quests to grind.

Quests in those early days though were just for fun, story, or (egad!) rp'ing!

Yeah i remember those times.... GOOD times lol :-(
