Wow, there are far too many blatantly stupid lies/rumors posted in this thread for me to quote any for responses. Yes, Tasos was wrong about the release date and had to change his stance on pre-orders so they could estimate how many players to expect at launch, but keep in mind that the community size has exploded in the last few months, and now they have far more people interested than they did when they were planning the infastructure. They also can't just go to Bestbuy to pick-up a dozen new servers, because each server will be hosted on an 80-PC server-cluster (we're talking powerful PC hardware on each machine too). Some have made educated guesses that each server will cost about 100K. Just because they changed their plan around a bit doesn't mean that when this game goes live they won't still continue to offer a free trial to everyone who is new, but this will probably need to be postponed briefly until they make sure they have sufficient servers to handle demand. Now, as for all this alarm bells going off BS... Jesus, do you guys ever let up? I personally know about 7 people who have no affiliation with Aventurine who are in the closed beta right now. I'm not going to disrespect my friends or Aventurine by leaking info, and I wish I could be candid, but it wouldn't matter if I did because I'd be accused of lying by the trolls anyway. All I will say is that people have told me that they feel this game is incredibly promising. Hypothetically speaking, some might even say that certain elements are the most fun they've ever had in any MMO, even counting back to UO days. This won't be a game for everyone, that I'm confident of, but I am 100% certain that many are going to be very satisfied when they play it, knowing that a company has finally delivered exactly the product that they promised, with outstanding graphics and advanced AI. I know that the mechanics will be a shock to many younger players, and some won't be able to adjust, but I guarantee that many of the PvP-loving trolls that have been crying "vaporware" for all these years will jump on this game and love it, probably lying and saying, "I always knew it would succeed". For those who sincerely like free-for-all combat, death with consequences, full looting, incredibly challenging AI, a skill-based system, FPS elements, no instances, PvP anywhere, and friendly fire enabled, I strongly believe that you are going to be very happy with this game. This game is guaranteed to have a large and faithful following, because it is the only one of it's type on the market. There is literally no other competition for the hardcore PvP MMO players out there, except perhaps Eve Online, but both systems are quite different and will offer players different satisfaction. Yes, some people are going to dislike this game simply because they dislike the core PvP-centered mechanics and didn't realize it until they tried it. Many others are going to have a very positive experience however, and you can expect to read many statements like, "this is the best [insert topic] I've ever seen in any game." I'm not trying to tell you that all aspects of the game are going to be that groundbreaking, but many will agree that several are. Flame on! |

Uh, what the hell are you crackheads going on about? There will be a digital distribution for this game, that is sort of the entire point of allowing the NA players access to the EU servers. There isn't a pre-order purchace for the game because they feel such business models are unethical, and they've consistently stated their opposition to expecting customers to pay for a product that isn't even finished or available yet. They also have said they will allow an extensive free trial for everyone to use (no stupid buddy pass system) upon release, so nobody is expected to 'take a chance' with this game, and will have the opprotunity to know precisely what they are spending their money on. What would you vapor trolls say if I told you I know with 100% certaintly that there are people currently playing beta as we type? For their sake and out of respect for Aventurine I'm not going to say anything more about that, but I'll enjoy coming back here to tease you idiots who had nothing better to do than pretend the whole game was some elaborate prank after it releases. |

DARKFALL LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED - Jan 22nd 2009
General Discussion « Darkfall 12/18/08 5:09:04 PM
Some people validate their existence by complaining about things instead of simply doing what they enjoy. This might be too complicated for you imbecile trolls to grasp, but if you hate DFO so much and are certain it will be a terrible game, stop writing about it constantly. You morons have inadvertently been advertising DFO for Aventurine for years now. All your BS aside, you know that Jan. 22nd is the first official release date Aventurine has announced, yet you pretend that isn't the case. Go lie somewhere else. |

It's funny that people are still trying to troll this game, which is just proof that their winning personalites have kept them from being part of the larger guilds that have members in the closed beta. People are in the beta guys, it's not a giant conspiracy, and there is info out there to disprove the trolls if you dig around for it or know the right people. All these troll losers will be the biggest fans when DFO launches and they'll be too dumb to realize what tremendous hypocrites they have been. |

DARKFALL LAUNCH DATE ANNOUNCED - Jan 22nd 2009
General Discussion « Darkfall 12/16/08 1:32:38 AM
Originally posted by Deathstrike2 Let's not get ahead of ourselves. AoC launched and it was crap. WAR launched and it's crap. VG launched and it was crap. The list goes on and on. If after launch, DF is all it's cracked up to be, I'll admit I was a doubter and will celebrate a great MMO. If not, well... that's just one more game to add to the growing list of crappy games that were released buggy, unfun, and unfinished. Is this a vaporware troll leaping from his vapor soapbox to a safer soapbox of, "well this game will probably suck"? |

So EvE isn't a Sandbox because I can't leave my ship? explain this to me please
Jita (General) « EVE Online 12/08/08 4:22:43 AM
Yeah, I don't really see it that way Eki. Eve is no more sandbox than any other MMO on the market to me. PvP anywhere doesn't make it sandbox. Besides PvPing, mining while PvPing, and using the economy, is there anything else to do in Eve? I disagree with the above poster too, because some of the great sandboxes has plots, but they are weak plots. Not to say the plots arent good, but just very unimportant in the grand sceme of where you spend your time while playing. Sure you can burn through them following the plots and ignore everything else. You'll be done in a few days (few months for an MMO), feel some sense of accomplishment, and then move on to another game. UO was 1 of the truest sandboxes because you could spend all day pickpocketing people, harvesting resources, crafting with harvested resources, hunting PKs, PKing, or just engage in the standard fare exploration and amasing great wealth and many houses/castles with quests and PvP. Literally there were about a dozen ways to experience the game for many hours every day all day for months that would be different than someone else's experience, and those experiences were unique from other's experiences except crossing paths to trade or fight or have a conversation. You could literally go back and replay that game several times and feel it was a totally different experience when starting over. Eve is definately less linear than many MMOs, I'm not disputting that, but it is nowhere near as versitile as UO was. I don't think any MMO has been as versatile since UO, sadly. A few have begun that way but were slowly corroded by whiners until the experience became more themepark and generic and the world less chaotic and player-driven (this of course even happened to UO shortly after release). Eve is a great game and completely a step back to the right direction for MMOs, but you'll have a hard time finding many UO vets who think it represents the same versatility as the early version of UO. |

Jita (General) « EVE Online 12/08/08 12:44:37 AM
Uh, Eve = sandbox? haha. Ok... I've played 2 sandbox MMOs in my entire life. Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. There may have been 1 other MMO I didn't play to earn a true sandbox title, but I doubt it. Sandbox games, even in single player, are few and far between. In recent history, Elder Scrolls, Fable, and Fallout games fell into that category. The original single-player Ultima games were sandbox. Eve is a great niche game, but is not a sandbox. Just enjoy your niche game and learn the meaning of a word before you throw it around casually. Sandbox games just mean that you can accomplish goals several ways and have several side paths that have nothing to do with the main objectives of the game to pursue. A true sandbox has far more content doing random sh1t that has nothing to do with the "storyline" than it has content for the storyline. Some don't even have main storylines. |

Do you love or hate Warhammer Online? [poll]
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 11/19/08 3:54:55 PM
Trolls? I have played 2 characters past level 20 and I hate WAR. At first I enjoyed WAR, but the more I experience endgame, the more I realize how heavily instanced it all is, and how repetitious the keep sieging is. I fully admit that I am biased because I like PvP-oriented games, and by PvP-oriented I mean 'real' PvP, not scenario theme park PvP. I am waiting for DFO to release, and all the other skill-based games to sweep the market behind it, then I'll never have to play a crappy theme park MMO like WAR again. Also, I will never buy another Mythic game, and feel WAR was a complete letdown from their creativity in DAoC. I admit that some people love WAR though, and find the PvP quite satifying. I just wish those people would stop playing my MMOs and complaining until they are turned into another WoW clone. |

Hello to Averheim. Come check out the: Disorder website. See our recruitment site at Warhammer Alliance here. We have a long history of winning in MMOs, and are PvP focused. We moved servers from a heavily disproportionate PvP server, and on our previous home we were the top ranked guild, had several top player spots on the leader boards, unified every major guild in our faction, and were the first guild in our faction to capture both T2 and T3 keeps. Please apply at the link above. Friday evening is drunken MMO night. If you plan to have any chance at beating us Order, this is the time to do it.
