We ran into a serious flaw last night. A Defiant had taken over a quest point and changed the ward over to his guys. My duo partner and I were autoflagged for PvP when we attacked the npc's (even though we were not flagged for such) in order to turn our quests in and then were ganked by a high level PvP player on a PvE server! Come on Trion this is a serious problem for PvE players!! |

"4: The game works best (IMO) if you do a little bit of everything. Quest grinding is supposedly still the fastest exp but it is, as the name suggests, a grind. Much more fun to mix it up with rifting, dungeons and pvp. Either of those are viable paths for levelling. Grinding mobs doesn't seem like it'll be worth it if you're going for exp alone. (if you're going for loot though, there are some choice spots for mob grinding)."
That's the great part of this game....just go with the flow. Does not feel grindy at all. There is so much going on. I got lots of exp Rifting (more in the same amount of time than quests), although I made more gold questing. One does not have to grind mobs at all to level. |

For gaming I would use the PC. Way more bang for the buck and Win7 64bit is an awesome OS. I like to build my own desktops (really it's not that hard to do). You could build a really fine desktop with a 6000 series AMD card and 23" inch or better screen for around $1k. Save money by buying an OEM version of Win7 from NewEgg or Amazon. On the laptop side I recently bought a now discontinued Toshiba (15.6 inch screen, 4 gigs ram, i3, AMD 5650) for $699 and the sucker is fast. There are good deals around if you keep your eye out for specials. |

PvP is rarely honourable at all. It's mostly players that get their jollies beating up on someone. It's very rarely fair and mostly a mess. I am very glad Rift has PvE servers. |

Will guildwars 2 be a companion to or killer of aion?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 2/11/11 4:54:12 AM
NCSoft is killing AION. Yes the game has gotten better, but there are still ridiculus time sinks involved (like getting your weapon after you have the five pieces of Daeva lvl 30 armour...come on now we worked hard just to get the armour...give us the dam weapon already). Having to kill 300 mobs in Eltenen (for the 150 quest items) is absurd and then there is another quest just as boring. You see this is the problem with Asian games. They have a different mindset and it does not mesh well with western gamers. I guess we are not as masochistic. Any game that requires huge amounts of kill this or that just points to lazy devs who take the easy way out. |

I found a really good rogue build that I will use when the game goes live. As for warriors, I duo with one and he took more of a beating from an elite than he should have in beta 6, so yeah maybe they were nerfed too much. |

I made it to level 28 in the beta and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am not a PvP player and really enjoyed the dynamics of the game. I have played WoW (not my cup of tea), LOTRO (three years now), AION (Did some PvP, then realized it really did not work), EQ2, Vanguard, Perfect World, Guild Wars, and a few others. I have pre-ordered Rift and look forward to playing it (at least till GW2 comes out). |

RIFT; the result of unoriginal/non creative game developers -- a review from a beta tester
General Discussion « Rift 2/02/11 11:16:42 PM
I like Rift...I did not like Wow...enough said? |

I will say this. I did not really even pay attention to Rift at all...was not even on my radar. Then I got a beta key to the last beta event an that all changed. The epic battle on our server (and I mean like Armegeddon) Friday night sold me. I immediately pre-ordered the game. Oh and I am sure the devs had fun with that one.... |

I think the game will do fine as well. It has huge potential and after all the failures of 2010 it is nice to see a good stable solid game released. They have me as a new customer after three days of beta. |

If Rift is so boring & such a Clone, Maybe you could direct me to a game that's better because I can't find one!

Rift was thoroughly enjoying to me and I bought the CE. I think the main thing about any MMO (or game) is that there is a tendancy to play it to death. If you play any game hours on end it will get old and stale really fast. |

Is it possible they ramped up the rifts for beta? I think they will find that less is more and people will get more excited about rifts if they happen less frequently. |

Frankly I was amazed at how smooth the game played on a highly populated server when the rifts opened and 30 or more players showed up. Never had any lag at all, something I cannot say for other mmo's I have played. |
