Did Mines of Moria kill LOTRO?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 4/02/09 12:58:17 AM
No Lotro is not gonna die...anytime soon. Yes there are many problems (as I posted in the MMORPG LOTRO forums). Some more serious than others. Turbine will either fix the problems or let the game go downhill and there is no reason to go in that direction. |

Fasaria World - great MMO for fans of old school EQ type MMOs.

Sounds interesting...great graphics mean nothing if the gameplay is bad. I look forward to trying this game on the trial. Why isn't this game listed in the game list on MMORPG? |

Sorry to hear that... Because the best amour and jewelry is from the instances (both rad and non-rad) , In SoA you could craft very good armour and jewelry. Potions can be easily obtained through mirror quests and drops. |

End Game 6/10 (The rad armour instance grind is getting very old) The storyline is one of the most solid (if not the most solid). I just wish Turbine would get back to what they did right in SoA (as posted in the game suggestions) and fix the bugs. |

LoTR best grahics in MMO's....not a well known fact.
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 3/30/09 4:23:47 PM
I would agree that graphics are not the most imortant thing in a game (if so why are Maple Story and WoW so popular). However, I like eye candy and have a fast enough computer to appreciate it. I totally agree with previous posters arguements that character design and animation in LOTRO is not that great, and hope the system gets an update sometime down the road. I have seen clips and screen shots of AION and the Cry engine just sets a new benchmark in graphics. |

I have been playing LOTRO for over a year now and try to help anyone I see having difficulty with their quest. Most players on Elendilmer are friendly and helpful...but if you come on with an attitude then you are far less likely to get help. |

Last night we did an instance called Fil Gashon in Hard Mode in order to get radience armour for end game for a kin member. So we can't run in and die which is the strategy we used to use and we have to send someone with a disguise in to get more disguises. So he goes in and we wait... He comes back with one and two go back in and we wait...they come back with one more and three go in and we wait...and wait. Then the leader in chat says "we cannot find any more and will have to reset the instance". So we run out and disband to reset go back in and fight the first mobs to get the first disguise and go through the process again. The instance has turned from a good fast paced instance (the run and die strategy) to a boring wait.
Add to this the increasing problems with mobs going into anti-exploit, a festival horse race that was buggy and had to be removed, a new end game boss RAID that was buggy and had to be removed, a gift box that was pretty much a joke (considering all the work that went into getting it), gutting of the end game crafting, and many other problems cropping up one has to wonder what is happening at Turbine? The talk in our kin is turning very negative toward the game,
My suggestions for the game are these: Get back to the original concept of the game. SoA was so well done. Rad armour should be scrapped. Let CC classes actually do CC in end game instances (I don't even play on my burg anymore). Don't folllow other games. Make end game crafting worth while (and not the joke that it is now), When you put end game RAIDs (like the turtle one) on test servers take off the gating so they can be actually tested. If people find strategies to do your instances don't call them exploits and be like a child and say "this is my toy and you will play with it the way I want you to". The anit-exploit system is broken...pure and simple...needs to be fixed.
I really like the basic concept of this game and want it to succeed. But what is happening lately has me really concerned. |

Simsimhada thanks very much for your replies. I also like to play mmorpg's to socialize and relax (not a hard core gamer) and have played a few Korean games. I look forward to playing AION and just enjoying the scenery. And your English was good...at least good enough to get your points acrossed. |

The Official "We're Angry at SOE" thread

This is truly a sad story of the life and death of an MMO. Sony as a company is very arrogant. I learned that going to trade shows and dealing with them. Basically their motto is "We are Sony and we know what is good for you". I hope other devs learn from this and take it to heart...their career could depend on it. |

I am not a PVP person either...but here's the thing that would make this game killer...
Let us go to worlds...get out of the ship and explore (and maybe quest). I played the trial version of Eve and was dismayed to learn I could not leave my ship (although I understand now that one can go into the stations?). |

I did not enjoy this game at all. Turned based is not my cup of tea. I have played LOTRO for one year now and have to say I have yet to find a better game (although that might change with AION). The game has decent graphics but not up to par with LOTRO. For a free to play game (not really as there is a cash shop and cash shop games can end up costing way more than pay to play games on a month to month basis) it's not bad. I just cannot get into the turn base fighting system (guess it's because I am not Asian?). The game is now deleted from my computer as I saw no point in keeping a game I did not enjoy. |

This has got to be the weirdest game I have ever played. There is very little logic to the UI. Maybe I am spoiled after playing games like Lord of The Rings and such...
Also, the download planted a bit-torrent program on my computer. The game play is...well...just strange. Sorry not my cup of tea at all. |

Epic fail.
Releasing in Fall will put them head to head with other MMo's annual expansions (like LOTRO which I play). I am not likely to jump over to another MMO at this time. The best time to release would be late spring. |

Look under support on the Turbine website and make sure you have all the Vista updates installed.

Turbine said anything about changing the character models yet?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 2/22/09 5:21:39 PM
I have been playing LOTRO for almost a year now and have to say that some char animations are bad and some are not. Elf's for instance are just awful....my face looks plastic. Hobbits, dwarfs and humans are not bad. But yeah....they could improve it over time. For instance Perfect World has much better char creation and animation (even though as a game it fails). AION looks very promising. |

This is a fun game, but as stated above you can get hit after the monster is dead. Also, the chat system has some problems. If you are in squad chat you cannot see faction chat at all. This should be corrected in future updates hopefully. Typical Asian mmorpg in that the quests run out at lvl 40 and it becomes a grindfest (hopefully this will be addressed in future upgrades) and also you lose exp if you die (unless you buy a guardian angel from cash shop). Dragon quests will drive you crazy with flying here and there for no reward on and on until the end (forget teleporting it will suck all your in game money). I found out I can go to a certain altitude and just click on the horizen and go do something else till my toon gets there...really kinda senseless all in all...Teleport prices should be much lower. |
