Anyone know why LOTRO servers and forum are all down?

Because they never made any money at all. The game has been in beta for 2 years. It was as far as the Moria patch, but did not include anything newer.

Lord of the Rings Online has the most mature players of any MMO I have ever played. Usually very helpful and friendly. I am on Elendilmer which is a 24 hour server (USA and those lovable Aussie's). One of the best servers of any game anywhere on the planet (and yes I might be a little biased).

There are several girls/women on our server on Lord of the Rings Online. The storyline is the best in any MMO and the community is as well.

I am pretty much done with Korean games. They really do not translate well to the west.

Several years from now, if someone mentions middle earth in front of me, maybe I’ll only indifferently smile, but he will not see that, even after years, when I look back at this memory, my heart will always be deeply stirred…..

You see some of these games do affect us deeply and for all the complaining we (I) have done the devs did an incredible job of bringing middle earth to life and we are grateful for that. I would have posted on the LOTRO forums in this thread, but I never do anymore since the time their forum server was hacked and game passwords were stolen.

I suspect that eventually a great game will show up with some new and refreshing creativity (that works) and it may even catch us off guard (as in we did not see it coming).

I work for MMORPG really! Beta events are great fun and sometimes the highlight of the game for me (like AION). Fun to log in and see masses of people and the GM's too.

I sure wish Turbine would fix this bug. I am tired of client crashes in Graven and upon entering or exiting the solo forges of Isen instance. It was better before the last patch. Our kin members are tired of it too.

I got my guard up to level 42 before defeat and that was only because the person I was duoing with made a stupid decision.

There are many of us who won't use Turbine's official forum because they now require you to use your in game password to lof in to a server that has been comprimised (hacked) in the past. It's foolish to do so and I will not use their official forums until they get their act together and have us set a forum password in out account that is seperate from our game pass. Since Warner has taken over the company there have been some really foolish decisions made and that is why people are venting.

Look...all I want is a groundhog carrying a mini gun with endless ammo. Okay? Do you devs understand that? One mean ass groundhog...is that too much to ask for?

I highly recommend building your own. You can find out how on the internet (it's not that hard really). If you can spend a bit more on the graphics card as gaming requires good graphic cards. You can get SSD's pretty cheap now as well. Check out Sites that offer free shipping on parts and put the savings into the graphics card.  Do a lot of research on the net...the info is out there and save a lot AND get better components.

Now they are ramping up for their press beta, and an eventual semi-open beta. The game is pretty much done. That's why they are having a press beta to show it off. Soon after we will get a sneak peek (of limited levels and areas no doubt). Release could happen in May....just in time for summer break. Are you ready to rumble?

Lotro is just milked cow atm and test bed for freemium business model.

I tend to agree with you. Unless they prove otherwise, the best was SoA and it went downhill after. Looking forward to GW2.
