Does this games Graphics put anyone else off?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 3/05/08 10:23:51 AM
The way I see Warhammer, the chaos legion sould look very dark, even give fear. Orks, needs to look "fun", because are a "don't take me serius" raaaaaaaaaace This is absolutelly win: http://img.war-europe.com/syndic_img/careers/fr/Choppa08.jpg Elfs, Humans and Dwarvens sould looks Epic, in a LOTRO way. This is Ok. http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/images/screenshots/SST_0807_08.jpg This could be ok, if the 2 chaos legion guys are PC, and not NPC. http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/newsletter/2008_02/beta04.jpg
I am a graphic whore, but a intelligente one: - I don't really need utlra high resolution textures, but like it - I want good animations - I want good maps - I want good sounds, icons, fonts, texts, lore, etc.. - I want servers ,client and netcode, to able 40 players on screen The most important factor is gameplay. If the game is dull or the servers empty, even the best graphics will not save it.

Originally posted by Vrika I agree. I have friends with the game. And have the game installed (as a trial). So I don't need the CD's, the manual, or a box. And codemasters don't need my money ... enough. |

Vanguard used to be very ganking-friendly. There was some level protections, but once other guy is on your range, you could do "things". My favorite spell whas "Sleep". Sleep + PvE or Sleep + Water is a ganking dream. Today, seems most RvR servers are off, so no ganking for you :D - - LOTRO PvPM. The default gameplay is 4 creeps to kill 1 freep ... by design. It don't feel like ganking, but is always Number vs Quality.

All RPG dungeons sould be closed at least a hour in honour the Master of all Dungeon Masters. So sad, life is soo fast, most people tat play MMO-RPG games have no idea who this guy is. |

I don't know. But seems that link is related: http://www.ryzom.org/donation/new 195,220 $ where collected with donations. But seemed not enough to open source it. Or maybe this will end on the recyle bin, like auto assault. Having a open source MMORPG was a interesting step for the open source community. Anyway theres already something like this ... Continuum.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SubSpace_(computer_game) http://subspace.legendzones.com/ I will quote the wikipedia: " BillingThe counterpart to the server application is the billing server. This server, which stores player data and scores and links zones together, is named for its originally intended function (in VIE's Subgame server) to store records of who had paid for the game and, therefore, was allowed to play it. Obviously, once VIE went out of business, this function was no longer necessary. Billing servers now serve many additional functions, such as providing a network-wide ban service superior to the one built into Subgame and allowing players in different arenas or zones to chat with each other over chat channels. There are several large biller networks for SubSpace. By far, the largest is SSC, which is the de facto official biller. It is owned by PriitK, the creator of the Continuum client." Theres life beyond the dead of the original developers, if a game can jump into the freeware or open source community. Else..
http://www.autoassault.com/news/ "Thanks to Everyone in the Central Wastelands — 08/31/07With Auto Assault closing down tonight, we wanted to thank all of you for creating a tremendously cool and dedicated community of Wastelanders. We just didn’t want to give you guys a wild, crazy event tonight, but something else that may be just as fun. In the coming days those that are eligible will be receiving a “Parting Gift” message in your e-mail inboxes, with opportunities to take a part in some of our other products, including Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa and City of Heroes. It’s our way of saying “Thank You” to the diehard Auto Assault fan base and we hope to see you in are other virtual worlds."

Sad. The opensource community also tried to buy this, to make it a F2P/F2D game ( free to play, and free to dev). No idea if that would have worked, but reading the Gameforge never payed the money.. is lame. Why would people kill something with soo much manpower hours behind?. :(

Yea. I blame codemasters. These guys don't want to code a internet shop to buy DDO has a digital download. Why? no idea. And I don't want to go to a 3th party shop and buy a box. Why would want a box, and wait 2 weeks to get a game? the game force me to have the cd-key, the box and the cd is crap, and wasted plastic, a nonsense. This stuff make me *very* angry. I am sorry If sound bad :(
6. They just recently made mobs take longer(MUCH longer to kill), this increases how long it takes to level, most likely they did this to buy themselves time to put in EG content. Unfortunitly for them I bought the game a week before thos, loved the game because it was so fast and now it's a joke. Have fun crouching and holding down your mouse button as you use your leach gun on 1 mob for 10-20 seconds until it dies and moving onto the next.
Thats what killed the game for me. After that change, I whas almost forced to uninstall. Fun was killed with that change. 1 vs 10 mobs become a boring 1vs1. |

I play LOTRO PvPM, where you get XP for killings (called Infamy) to enhance your char, and it works. But is mostly a RvR gameplay. |

I am playing. And liking it. I made some first bad decissions, and now I am fixing things, but everything is mostly ockay. The enemy on the quest are hard, but my units are leveling well. My main unit is a archer group, then something else, like picker or spearmen. Graphics are somewhat outdated, but this is a strategy game so is not that important. |
