Nice engine.  I would continue playing AO if that engine is released. If only to see these areas again, in nice graphics.

IT's OK to add dress up and dancing to a game, but it seems to sterotypical of what a submissive girl would do.

Submissive or not, it's the way we're put together. Most men tend to gravitate towards typical manly stuff, while most women is drawn towards typical girly stuff. It's some 50 million years of evolution there smacking you in the back of the head

Anyway, I think its a good idea to use stereotyping in game design. If you somehow can make a game that apply to both sex's stereotypical roles, the hunter in the men and the gatherer in the women, and do it well ofcourse, I think you got a bestseller on your hands. Ofcourse there are exceptions to this, but the stereotypes are there for a reason. Funny though that SWG pre-nge was the game that was nearest to this of all the games out there, but got smeared into a unrecognizable pulp by some idiot devs with the totally wrong ideas about what people actually want.

small edit for typos...argg

Try "old" games like Planetside, Balltefield 2,  Frontlines, Mass Effect, Baldurs Gate 2,  Morrowind, Desktop Turret Defense,  Darwinia, Tremulous,  Civilization IV, ....  etc.

I've heard many different opinions as to what class is the mirror of another.

People have said that an Engineer's mirror is the Squig herder.  Other people have said Engineers mirror Magus.

The Squig Herder mirrors White Lion.  Others say it mirrors the Shadow Warrior.

People have also said White Lion mirror Maurauder.

I like the fact that a good half of the classes don't have a clearly defined mirror classes for people to compare and balance.  Hopefully the game will keep things like this and not normalize all the classes like Mythic did in early DAOC.

What do you guys think each class mirrors?

Class mirrors are documented somewhere by the devs.  And  Engineer is the mirror of Magus, you will see that on the document (sorry, no idea where) so the people that think Engineer mirrors Squig herder, have no idea. Squig herder is a pet class. The squig don't move. There are different style gameplay and tools.   The magus "turret" is a monster, but can't move because it mirrors the enginer turret (turret != robot with legs) so it make sense for the turret to no move, but I don't make sense for the monster to not move.

Both class don't make sense for a RVR game. But I may have a engineer class, if only, because have tons of different tools at level 31.

WAR will not fail, because is a already good game, and will need absolutelly horrible changes to make it a bad game.

But WAR is not addictive, so you will need others MMOS *anyway*, even If WAR sucess and you are in.  I suggest could be a good idea to try some F2P games.   Maybe ryzom, atlantica online, air rivals...  maybe try a different gente: FPS, something like BF2 or Frontlines. There will be soon a few singleplayer games, like Diablo 3, starcarft 2, fallout 3. ... theres ZERO originality on these games, as you can see are <something> <number>, but anyway will be well crafted, of high quality, so will be good games.   AION will release soon, theres another good game.

PC gaming is dying.. so maybe PC gamers sould let the open source and freeware community have more players. Saubretaun seems very high on Xfire.  Tremulous is a very good game. Army of Earth has ben show in the frontpage of Fileplanet.  Maybe gamers have to download more of that open source games, and the mod community evolve to a open source game making community.   Console have clones most PC features, but console games are still dumbeddown crap.  So PC gaming is diing, because the devs have moved to consoles. The ones that stay are few, and sparce. Something has to be made now.    MMORPG games are still alive, because is hard to make then for consoles (and is hard to update a game for console, because all the autoritative microsoft /sony/nintendo crap)  but is like a isle in a land of destruction. Everywhere else, PC gaming is dyiing, or mortally wounded.

STR, WIS and other stats are just implemented, and his effects are neligible. AoC don't deserve the RPG in MMORPG.      It also don't deserve the first M, because of the instancing everywhere.  Is a "MO", so It don't deserver to be listed on this site.  I would vote be it removed from www.MMORPG.com

I would suggest to you cancel this game (first delete the CC details).

You are a good and valuable player, and this game don't deserver good players like you.

WAR?. I don't know, maybe you will like it, maybe not. Is more a game for guilds than for good players, but who know, maybe you will like it. Soonish there will be a open beta...

hahahahahaa.....

About the change:

I guest the netcode for the servers is ultra-poor, and this change force people to spread trough all server, to make it easy for the servers to run.

I don't think is that bad or evil.

And yes "Medium load" seems a static label.

I don't see If enough people will follow your suggestions. And even If people follow your suggestions anything will change.

And anyway, this is a MMORPG forum.  You can't decide if a MMO is good playing the trial. You can't see if a game as EndGame based on a trial.

Everyone and my dog is jumping on the WoW success bandwagon.

Is like everyone doing CS clones after counterstrike. (  COD4 is the lates of this familiy )

Or everyone doing Warcraft clones after Warcraft.   ( Read Alert 3 is the latest of this one )

Or everyone doing Diablo clones after Diablo.  (the latest is Hellgate london)

We have everyone doing Everquest/Wow clones after WoW.  The lastest is  ... Age of Conan Anarchy Online ArchLord Asheron's Call City of Heroes City of Villains D&D Online Dark Age of Camelot Dark and Light EVE Online Everquest Everquest II Face of Mankind Final Fantasy XI Guild Wars Hellgate: London Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted Knight Online Lineage II Lord of the Rings Online MapleStory  Phantasy Star Universe   RF Online Ragnarok Online Roma Victor The Saga of Ryzom Second Life Shadowbane Silkroad Online Star Wars Galaxies Tabula Rasa Ultima Online Vanguard: Saga of Heroes World War II Online World of Warcraft Aion Champions Online The Chronicles of Spellborn Darkfall Earthrise Fallen Earth  SUN Star Trek Online Stargate Worlds WAR (Warhammer Online) ...and a zillion others.

I hate this, but is also predictible.  Blizzard is doing a mountain of gold, and others want it too. Most people will fail.

There will be always the clones, and there will be always the original games.

Stuff like Eve, Planetside, Ryzom ( Runscape-ish games ), PoTBS, etc... add something, others not.

Even a original game can be boring, because is hard to make a good MMO. Maybe is something that need tons of money, luck, and really good professionals.  Maybe theres not enough money and professionals out here, or people ready to hire the right people.

You make it seem as if you reviewed FC's AoC, but the fact is what you reviewed is a beta client at best, though more realistically its an alpha client quickly bumped up to release. When looking at and judging AoC you must keep in mind that the game was released WAY TOO EARLY. Its is quite conceivable that had FC held off and released when ready, almost all of your points would be non-existant.

Now I'm not excusing FC. Personally I think its long past time a major title and company was allowed to fail because the publishers COUNTED on people saying "All mmo's are bugged when released" and paying for the publisher to continue dev'ing. But still its an important point and shouldn't be missed or forgotten, especially by other production companies: AoC's number one failure and the cause of its decline is that it was released much to early.

WTF is ZERG?

Zerg is originated in RTS games. As nothing to do with WoW.

Is a type of attack, based on number, no quality.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(computer_and_video_games)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Species_of_StarCraft#Zerg

The "Zerg" is a group of players that attacking using the force of the number. On a RVR game, you will see enormeous zergballs moving brainleslly around contested areas, and stuck in areas like bridges, or other chockepoints, with ranger classes attacking the only moving targets: tanks.
