EA has buy a lot of game studios, then run these studios into the ground.   I think is the base. Then theres old wounds about DRM,  but people like Ubisoft with Yet Worse DRM has made these faux steps seems trivial.

Mostly is kiling lots and lots and lots of good game studios.

yea, yea...

I hate WoW, and all the WoW clones.

It would make sense for Blizzard to build "a new generation" of tools and servers, that can also enhance his current game.

I mean... a very conservative option is to make incremental enhancements of the wow tools and servers. Not create something from scratch.   This will limit what a new "unanounced MMO" can do, but also mean any dollar invested in that unanounced mmo is also invested in wow, so is not wasted, even if that unanounced mmo is not released.

This may also helps mantain his people "sharp" and intelligent.  It would be sad (for a company) see his more bright people rot and become obsolete.

But thats is a "worst case scenario".

Reading articles about the E3 that  SWTOR will be another WoW clone has made me sad.   The shadow of wow is huge.  Wen it will finish?   I can't even have faith that we will start something new or fresh after wow.  Much like a tsunami, maybe after the wow wave theres nothing.  Also, we are getting lots and lots of mmos, because the investors are crazy with the wow gold, but once realized that this gold is beyond reach what? we will be punished with the bashlash,...  much less new mmos made that normally would make sense.   So the wave of destruction of wow has two sides: this times, with lots of bad mmos made after wow, and after that wave ends, a  mmo emptyness.

fapping with ventrilo activated.

Thats why push-to-talk is your friend.

Call me cynic, ... but I feel another Aion in the making.

I don't hate paladins.  I even have roled some.  Paladins can make for a good offtank, I think.  Is a bit of hibrid class. we have to admit.

I don't know how play in a game like WoW, because is a very simplitic MMORPG,   wow is like a tutorial to enter people to the mmorpg world, but on most games a paladin is a mele class with some anti-evil or self-healing powers.

I also started with the c64, and games like asteroids.

Yea, there has ben a process of "streamlining", that has a good side, packing more cool stuff in less space, but has a bad side,  remove things.

I hope the people change again, and we retain the "pack cool stuff" with the things we use to have in games.

Is also true that is harder to make a game nowdays, since more detailed graphics mean more time the artist working.

Also since the budgets are bigger, theres less risk-taking.  Not taking any risk is another risk, but thats life.

Not everything is gloom and doom, we have the indie people, and emergent countrys like Russia and Brasil, these people will continue making games like we use to love...

Good games.

The nazis use to have a "fun" strategy with the jews:

Give then enough calories to work, but not enough to survive,  ...lets say a 95% of it.   That way was possible to extract work from these people and kill then.

MMOS are like that,  enough enteirnament to milk you forever, but not enough to have fun.  Basically, the bussines model of MMO's is evil.  Is a type of games that is better if you can avoid.   At least with the current pattern useage (soloers).

Everything with friends (even stupid games) is fun. And mmos are stupid games.

HK-47, the jawas, Visa, a ewok with nanomachines for blood.

Playable races:

 - Human

 - Orc

 - Elf

Classes:

 - Tank

 - Healer

 - Nuker

Two sides:

 - Evil

 - Good people

There will be 70 levels, every odd level you will gains "powers", that will use either stamina or mana.

At level 70, special areas will unlock with monsters with a very very long HP bar.

Price will be 15 $ montly, but you must pay the first year in advance.

wow!

Planetside =>  because is more fun than the average mmo. I like it.

Guild Wars => a single buy, play forever.  Womens are smart and like these details.  I don't like Guild Wars for lots of people like it.

WoW =>  for some reason lots of people like it. I don't have much faith in popularity...but he.

Probably the better option is Guild Wars,   maybe one of these cheaposales on Steam..  for about a single 15 $ , play a mmo forever. Hell...  buy 2 copys.

postdata:

LOTRo is another good option, if she is into the movies.

A good reason to play a MMO, is playing with a "static group".  A group of people that you know from real life, or other games and talk about your girldfriend, your job, maybe your childrens, etc...  with ventrilo.

From my perspective videogames only started to exist since the 80's, from the creation of the original Nintendo and upward. The processing power of the NES enabled video games to very lightly be art and experience of virtual worlds, even though it was in a very infant state

You sould probably add a bit of RPG history on your considerations.  More important because you are on a RPG site (MMORPG.com).

Planetside is the best, and a very good one.

I must add, no one expect a game that will top Planetside.  We expect if a Planetside 2 is made, or a clone, to be much smaller in style,  more like Global Agenda or Counter-Strike.  So go, play the Real Thing.   Everyone sould play Planetside, at least one.  To know how MMOFPS epicness is possible, and has ben for a lot of years. The problem is not technology.

Teala, this is a bit offtopic here. Since Activision will ask Bungie to make another million generic FPS's  halo clones.  Halo4 , Halo5 another game like halo, another fps, a TPS.. etc...  Is just a "blockbuster" maker contracting a groups of guys to produce 10 years of generic crap.

"casual players"  or "noobs" etc- in gaming,  it is used in a derogetory sense.

noob is a degorative term.

definition:

a noob person is one that don't know the rules of a community, and refuse to learn these, so act like a newbie even years before using that community.

a newbie person is one that is new on a community.

is obvious to you why noob is a degorative term? is on his very definition.

on internet you will find people that don't know the netiquette and use noob for newbie. ignore these people, most are noob's thenselves.

Ols MMO's =  Sim City 2000

New MMO's = FarmVille

New mmo's are more popular, but has not sould or enough mechanics or fun to be called Games.  The G in MMORPG is false for all the latest MMO's.  People play these games because of the adiction, just the adiction, withouth a fun component.

I am impressed how people can adquire the license for something, and make yet another WoW clone.   The future next 8 big MMO's will be WoW clones.

Is like the 13th god's curse to egiptians, or something
