OP: I would suggest you go outside for a while, get some fresh air, enjoy the planet and what it offers. Darkfall is a GAME, it is not YOUR game, it is a game designed by people in Greece and it isn't done quite yet. You have NO money or resources invested in the development of this game. Why in the hell would you allow yourself to get this emotional over a game that isn't released yet and that you have nothing invested in, other than time reading forums? Seriously, go outside for a while. |

Required reading for those thinking of preordering
General Discussion « Darkfall 1/15/09 4:06:17 PM
Dark and Light was very much a scam. They took preorders (money) and subscriptions for a game that was what could be considered an "Alpha" stage of development. The world was huge and empty. Game features were missing. The game was horrible. They took money to provide product that was clearly incomplete. It would be the same as if Honda sold you a car that had no engine, no electronics, it was just a frame and some wheels that looked like a car, but was essentially worthless. That would be considered a scam just as Dark and Light was a scam.

Someone like me? Well, I have given this game until January 22nd to prove that it is worth playing. If by January 22nd, I don't see credible evidence, I'm just going to stop watching. Does that answer your question sir? |

You are bragging because all of the players from the dead servers have transferred to the more populated ones... WHERE ARE THE NEW PLAYERS? SWG will NEVER grow until the game is good enough to retain new players. Even with the Station Pass SWG can't accomplish that... So instead of going to every internet site and posting that SWG is booming and the populations are high, consider that it is the SAME players as last week, they are just consolidated on new servers. SWG can't keep new players hence the populations keep declining over time. |

Suggestion: to better handle release, block US IPs

The bottom line to all this is that Darkfall will be played by a LOT of peope on January 22nd. We will know right then and there if it is any good or not. I have a hunch that they wouldn't allow open beta if the game isn't mostly ready. I have been very much a skeptic this entire time but today was a good day for Darkfall and it's fans. We will know soon enough. |

The publisher's notes say NOTHING about optimizing the number of players allowed, so I don't see where you are getting this information. What I want to know is how did SOE technically accomplish this? Many of us on here have a good understanding of severs and clustering and would like to know what SOE did... It would require a great deal of time to actually accomplish that. I simply don't believe that it's true. |

What a load of BS. How exactly did they "optimize" each server? You are simply spouting things you cannot support with any logistical evidence. If anything, that server statistics have been greatly reduced from past iterations of this game. I would say that "Heavy" in NGE is probably the equivalent of "Medium" in Pre-CU, IF THAT. |

Bloodfin was great back in Pre-CU. Now it's a just a ghost-town. It's pretty sad every time I log on actually. |

Shame it wasn't that big when we needed it most.
The "Vocal Minority" have never had anything to do with Wow-envy that SOE and LucasArts have to this day. Keep blaming the CUSTOMERS... LMAO

I have followed this game since 2003. I also watched the Light and Dark debacle take place. Darkfall appears to be in much better shape than that crapfest was but Aventurine certainly has a lot of expectations to live up to on January 22nd, expectations of their OWN creation. We will see. |

Simple reason as to why I believe Aventuring is NOT pulling a failcom/$ony/DnL/etc...

I think we have seen enought screenshot and video gameplay of Darkfall to know it does exist, in some form. I am starting to lean towards the notion that we are all going to log on when it launches and find that the game is essentially an empty open world were are supposed to carve out ourselves. I will be shocked if crafting is complete. I will be shocked if the skills are complete. I hope the game is ready but they seem to be hiding something from the world... Whatever that is it doesn't sit will with those of us who are skeptical. Darkfall clearly exists, it isn't vaporware. It's also clearly more complete than Dark and Light was at launch if you watch the videos. It is ready to go live? I have doubts but I hope to be wrong. |

Blaming the gamers for fraud and a lack of ethics by LucasArts and SOE is insulting to all of us who spent years developing characters only to have them rendered useless in one day, with almost no warning. |

People left Age of Conan because it was horribly incomplete at launch, criminally incomplete. I feel quite wripped off especially after I rolled a Dark Templar only to realize that it was the most neglected "class" in the game -- And that is saying A LOT. The game is more stable (AS IT SHOULD BE) now. It has more content. It has better PvP. It still has no real crafting or any freedom. Basically Age of Conan is entertaining for a few days and then you realize that you are wasting time you could spend doing something more fruitful and fun. The game has no purpose and it feels like it was designed for a 10 year old (violence aside). The game is simply the most dumbed-down game I can imagine playing. It's the most linear game I have ever seen. After Tortage (the beginning 20 levels or so) the game goes to crap, and fast. My suggestion to you is don't upgrade your rig to play Age of Conan. Regardless of what SOME may tell you on this site, Age of Conan lost 75% of it's playerbase for a good reason. I wasted a lot of money on that crapfest and I hope that others don't do the same. Give your time and money to a company that actually offers a good product, good support, ethical behaviour, and a somewhat COMPLETE game. Last April my gamebox said "Enahnced for DX 10" and I never got to play it in DX 10 because Funcom doesn't have it in the game -- LMAO. What a joke. |

SWG has nothing in common with the movie saga other than (sort of) the physical setting. Much like the current NGE game has nothing but avatars and physical setting with the old game.
LoL, that is 100% ironically correct. Badger is more full of spin than a yo-yo but truth can't be denied. I am going to pop The Empire Strikes Back in my Blue Ray and see if I can locate the hundreds of Jedi I have been missing on screen all this time. I know they MUST be there! I mean, SWG is true to the movies... Right? Ooops. |

Bloodfin is my main server and I have been looking for other players for the past 3 years. I can find about 50 or so around Mos Eisley and another 10 or so in Rustess... I guess all the others are in space doing missions - LMAO Basically, Badger just showed you that Bloodfin likely has the highest population and I can tell you that finding more than 75 people online at any given time is pretty difficult. Of course others will tell you otherwise but I will be happy to meet you in game and we can go on a treasure hunt and try to locate all the supposed players that have evaded me for the past 3 years. |

Like what? Combat - Bad Economy - Bad Gameplay - Bugged Servers - Empty (hence major server merges coming) Expansions - Nope Development Team - Small
So what were you saying again? |
