What about all those naive Star Trek fans who've never played an MMO before and then seeing all the fanboy rantings of how this game would be the next reincarnation of Gene Roddenberry? (i.e. STOked podcast, I've even seen reviews on YouTube talking about how awesome STO would be.)

With Mass Effect 2, they are stuck to the game, and are trying to burn their way through it as fast as possible. They are trying to 'beat' the game, and are in a rush to do so.

With Star Trek Online, they are playing a couple of hours a day, and they are not in any rush. I mentioned that they had not even gotten far enough to get their first class ship, and their comment was that they were not in any hurry. They were enjoying the experience, and didnt feel any need to rush.

I think both games were good buys... but that the each offer something different.

At any point during their gaming experience did you mention to them that they might be adopted?

Its been a very long time since mmorpg was actually in favor of the players and allowing free honest however negative posts and or reviews of a game.

I understand the site relies of the good graces of game developers to survive but truly this site was becoming part of the problem with online gaming rather than the solution.

I swear everytime I would have a horrible experience with a new game and log on here only to find mmorpg locking and deleting every negative thread, I really felt the board had become nothing more than a game developers viral marketing tool.

I can actually remember a time way back when, when the mmorpg staff would actually post honest reviews of games often times saving their player members a little hard earned cash in the process.

Hopefully this is a sign that mmorpg is coming back around once more in favor of the gamers as they should be.
 

I count at least 5 STO ads on here.....their loyalty goes as far as their bottom line extends.
