Why I stopped my subscription.
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/21/12 4:18:52 PM
So I canceled my subscription today, and when asked to place my comment in the box as to why i was doing so, i added this: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game is heavily focus'd on Alt play and the legacy system. Bored with endgame content. Bored with PvP. Bored with raiding for Tokens to get semi par gear. Bored with constant Bounty Hunter and trooper drops in hardmode. Bored with having to level up other characters because there is no endgame content. Still cannot understand why you guys would rather add alt fluff to the game than leave the idea of placing a dual spec option. Main focus is on the legacy system instead of fixing what little endgame content there actually is. Also many people have leveled characters to 50 on light populated servers and have had no choice to transfer servers forcing them to start all over again because there is no server merging going on. As soon as you hit 50, all i seem to be doing is Farming mind numbing Dailies, spending most of my time raiding boss's that bug left, right and centre causing the whole raid to stay longer after a wipe. Then when we actually do down the boss we are working on, its fucking Bounty Hunter gear 95% of the time. I was really looking forward to playing this game since you guys did an awesome job with Kotor but so far it has been a few weeks of enjoyment and disappointment from then onwards. I wish the Bioware team the best of luck and hopefully i will return when the game has improved. Until then, most of your subscribers and myself will be playing Diablo III which i've already noticed has dealt quite a blow to server activity. I just hope Guild Wars 2 won't be the finishing touch. I can no longer justify paying the asking subscription price to play this game. Also having spent around £43 just buying the game which is disgusting for a PC Game. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I first started the game it was special don't get me wrong, I loved it. But having played a level 50 Sniper and 50 Marauder to hardmode raiding content and casual storymode raiding for guildies to gear up, the game just didnt have the same effect on me anymore. Patch 1.2 was a dissapointment again. and even now 1.3 is still focusing on the legacy system which means even more alt grinding. What are your thought's? am I wrong or has anyone else gotten the same feeling as i have the past few months... |

What are your thoughts after playing the BETA? (Poll)
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/03/11 5:09:06 AM
I just think some people are upset about the fact that if you want to know what you are doing for a quest, you have to invest some time and actaully listen to the guy, instead of getting that scroll of text that nobody ever reads. On the other hand, some people dont have alot of time to invest into the game. At least people now will be able to stop and smell the roses for a change, instead of mindlessly grinding for max level as soon as possible. ( I was one of those people ) |

Another thing i did forget to mention, is that the new voiceovers and cutscenes for quests are in my opinion... making me want to roleplay, and thats saying something. I'm normally a big time PvP fan but i think this game will be suit the "Single Player RPG's" in the fact that it still feels like the good old Kotor we've completed hundreds of times over, but it now comes with people stealing your quest kills / mobs :D So far I think that 8/10 is a pretty down to earth rating and from some of the reasons given as to why it should be are quite noteable. And to the person who said there isnt any mirror classes, go and read some more reviews and posts about it please. The Storyline is what is making the classes seem so differant. Did anybody get to play in the "Space Combat" at all?? wouldnt mind hearing some thoughts on that if there is anyone here who has played it. |

General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/01/11 4:40:21 AM
Hey guys, like many of you here i got the chance to have a good few days play on Star Wars the Old Republic from Sat - Tue. My thoughts are that the game is really well polished at the moment appart from the odd graphics errors some people are getting, eg the little "Dead Pixel" in the upper left. and the whole "High or Ultra" graphics settings not really up to par. BUT the game isnt about the graphics, thats just a bonus. I think the best feature of the game is going to be the whole Kotor choice system we all have come to love. Having the option to choose the Light or Dark side on either team is pretty cool, but at the end of the day there is no "Gray" area and you are still with one faction or another. They probobly should of created a third faction maybe? Since there is really only 4 classes in the whole game ( Mirror Classes). I know they have done the best a person can do to make them feel differant, but it just doesnt work. If you've played one class, the only thing thats going to be differant is the storyline, and in some cases people are just fine with that. so am i to a certain degree but i still think they could of put a little more thought into the class design. My final conclusion to my experience is that. I will Pre-order and play it for a while and see how things pan out for the game ( I was always going to buy it since im a Kotor fanboi). All in All though, Its BETA. even though it was just a stress test for their servers, nothing is finalized i dont think, and i think we can still see some very nice changes comming before december early release. Here is a Poll, I would also like to hear your thoughts on your Beta Experience from the last weekend BETA .

1. An MMO (like Hellgate) with a F2P Single player option aswell. 2. Something that encourages Grouping while playing, I hate the fact that in a Massivly Multiplayer Online game means - Go and solo every quest untill endgame, this is what i have seen so far. 3. Customizable Classes with preset races that can be personalised. 4. I also really enjoyed the completely open world idea such as Mortal Online has, 5. I know its convieniant but, instant travel takes alot out of the player experience (for me at least). I'd rather have to travel a good while to a city with a few friends, maybe have a nice PVP fight or rare spawn on the way. But i know some people do not have time for that kind of thing. but i think it helps the player appritiate the work the designers have put into the environment and lore. 6. Companions aswell would be pretty fun, i think SWTOR have this pretty nailed, as far as story and interaction goes. I think they have done pretty well to balance it out. But could be a problem when associating it with my second comment. 7. DaoC / Warhammer Keep Style PvP. Even Monster / Mob attacks on keeps / strongholds like Tabula Rasa had. where if you failed to defend it from them, you would have to take it back or it would give an oppurtunity for an enemy clan to take it. ( Although this may be a problem with non instant traveling as i said earlier) Maybe some sort of PvP or Keep instant teleport or a countdown timer for you to teleport in. 8. Also, Instanced Dungeons shouldnt be a dull, repetative thing, some people like it so they know what is going to happen, but a random dungeon map or mission somewhat like Torchlight has, you never seem to get the same dungeon twice. It just seems like a nice thing, but would be difficult if the game was strongly driven by story and landmark dungeons so to speak. 9. And Finally, No cash shops. Looking back at my First comment, I think a fair retail price and a fair monthly sub would be good enough. but... why would you sub if you could play Single player right? so... maybe you cant have everything you want in a mmo. I think its very diffucult for an MMO to Appeal to everyones likings, because some things just dont work together in practice or theory. Thats probobly why a game is either for you, or its not, depending on your personal tastes. Edit: Also my Next Gen MMO Wish would be for World of Darkness to get the attention and staff it deserves |

"If you have previously tested or are currently participating in an ongoing test, you will be invited again. Additional details for this upcoming test will be announced soon."
Got my email today aswell for the Beta weekend invite -
I'm guessing that any codes or whatever would be sent via email or something Edit: Also - "This will help ensure we meet our population goals, so we can effectively stress test our servers in preparation for launch"
so yeh im going to bet loads of people are going to get invites |
