Can i read that as "yes i admit i was a fool and was an example of what tasos talked about in his interview as i tried to convince people this game was a fake".

Also you can post whatever you want over there....more fanbois get banned/locked than skeptic posts.

you just have to do this fancy thing called support your arguement and not make the same post over and over....if you think otherwise then you obviously were there to troll

We shall see who is the fool.

So when Tasos says in January that "beta testers tell us the game has to be improved on X and Y areas, so we postpone three months" - who is the fool then?

he wont

Reading Tasos interview and his Proclaiming of everyone else being afraid of Darkfall.. I thought I'd ask this question..

Will the So-Called "Fans" ruin Darkfall with thier anti-everyone else antics?

Or is it the trolls who only discuss darkfall with the "fans"?

No actual discussion does take place, it is just hard when the trolls interupt almost every thread. People would actualy debate things if there weren't the constant flame wars where trolls seem to decided people have no right to discuss things other than what they want.

I mean go back and look at the threads lol.

Try discussing Graphics and bam, lol vaporware comments and comments like "lol graphics are from 1990" ect.

Try discussing the AI and bam, lol vaporware comments and comments like "lol that was scripted with realm crafter"

If it wasn't for the unfounded and utterly ridiculus statements made by the trolls the fans wouldn't be so defensive and uppity lol.

Trolls try to deny it but it's in the threads plain as day.

Even the thread that was discussing how bad the animations were got trolled and derailed lol, how about that. Tried talking about a bad point and even then they decide we are merely cultists with blind faith and need to discuss the validity of the game.

DO these trolls sound like the "Realists" they try and make themselve's out to be?

nope

Warhammer and AOC both let you see a ton of content in beta and they still were 'scams' in my book.  I can't imagine a game with basically no open beta asking payers to pay upfront and trust them.

This is definitely a game where you should wait at least 2-4 weeks before paying anything.

free trial before you spend a dime so

yea

Have you heard anything official on that yet downtoearth... or just the same line of "we hope to offer" as we've heard before?

i bet it will be just like eve (days might be diffrent but i bet its the same thing

yea takes about a week for 1 skill to get 100 and thats if thats all you use

with 500-1000 skills and spells there probly a bit of grind but youd ont have to grind to do all things in game like in level based games..

if theres some free trial it will probly cut those numbers in half and since its full body looting all tho i like that the wow noobs will never buy the game so it will never truly be that big of a mmo

there alot of wow noobs that want to play it or at least give it a try. but there nto tryign to compete with Ww anyways

He was so unprofessional in this interview, Id like to know how he got this job in the first place. He comes off as snippish, arrogant, and just plain rude. Ive seen front desk clerks in motel 6s come across with more professionalism than this guy can muster.

Frankly I dont think hes cut out for the job, he, like Aventurine has no prior experience, and frankly his attitude isnt helping Darkfall one bit.Seriously I can point you in the direction of some good training vidoes for dealing with the public Tasos, you obviously need help.

I applaud MMORPG.COM for finally busting this guys chops like they should have been years ago. Not only did you get them out there, but you exposed the guy for the unprofessional hack that he really is.

A step in the right direction for Darkfall would be to fire this inexperienced jackanape and get someone in there who can handle tough questions without coming off like a petulant child.

But the "petulant child" you describe him as is exactly the mentality of his blind faith followers.  These immature piss-ants are mostly likely the kind of people who will be playing his game (if it even is playable, yet to be determined).

So he's just basically catering to the lowest common denominator... His fans.

wow im hurt im actully a very nice person and the people i talk to from the forums are pretty cool to granted some are asses >.>

Tasos and the Adventurine are serious about releasing an MMO for all those gamers who have been left out in the cold over the past 8 or more years, with a full loot, ffa pvp, skill based, sandbox, modern graphics MMO.

There are literally tens of thousands of people who are waiting for a game of this type to be released. And more, much much more people introduced to the MMO genre through WoW will come across once it is released, because it is a game based around PVP WITH CONSEQUENCE.

No more hand holding carebear hugs and kisses, no more whack-a-mole combat, no more level grinding, no more stupid 'kill  10 bats' CRAP.

And they DON'T F****ING CARE if you don't like full loot pvp sandbox, they don't want to hear your snivelling whining about 10 hour raids to gain a shiney, they don't want to listen about your needs for 'teh lvl grind'. If you don't like those concepts, or for some reason think the game is all smoke and mirrors, then GTFO of the house, you whining, weak-willed worm.

I could not have said it better. Cudos

Hallarious considering that even if Darkfall ever does see the light of day, this "ultimate skill based game of all time!' boils down to smashing the mouse button over and over until things die and random ganking. If there are no objectives, I fail to see the "conseqnece" of PvP besides perhaps having to go buy another genericsword_01 to replace the one that was spammed out of you by 12 noobs.

not going to be like that

You say that now. Hell, even the scant few trailers they've released show warriors running around just spiraling their arms like some kind of sword windmill until something dies and then gliding over to the next thing.

wasnt meant ot show more than what it showed

To be honest,

I've found his attitude in this article far from pleasant.

He really sounded like an elitish puberal arrogant ass. Sorry to say it like that.

Nothing about thick skin, vaporware trolls this and that.

If you are going to answer an interview this is clearly not the way to answer.

He really thinks he is the king of the MMO industry, seeing how he reacted and thinks about other MMO companies.

Sorry tho, but he should be a bit more respectful towards the competition. As so far they themselves haven't delivered anything yet and are a new indy company in this bussiness.

And this arrogant elitish attitude isn't going to do them any favors! Maybe he should keep both his feet on the ground and act a bit more humiliate and normal.

Cheers

At least I am not trolling and post replies with a foundation. Can't say that from you k

Also, as someone who doesn't read these boards that much, I'm baffled by the mood in the Darkfall section.. what the hell is wrong with people who support Darkfall? I sure hope the community won't be anything like this in the actual game because I'd have a hard time enjoying it no matter how good the game itself is. Geeeeez come on.

It doesn't matter. Any good IT professional will tell you that the only good test is with REAL people.

I have been part of the development of new auction software system.

Development tested it with all kinds of stress test programs and everything looked okay.

The moment we rolled out the new software on the tribunes and tested with real live customers to use the new software simultaniously on the tribunes, all kinds of issues, problems, bottlenecks, performance issues arose.

There is no AI testing program that can beat real live testers.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

Is there a lot of hate towards DF? Yes.

Could Tasos's rather blatant arogance in the thread be due to the hate? Sure, probably is.

Then my question would be, Why has Adventurine, and Tasos cultured and fueled this hate?

Every thing they release is vague, extremely vague. They dodge questions that arent about gameplay, or NDA game features, but about development cycles. They dont do any main stream media previews, and when they finally hit a mainstream outlet, they come off as curt and rude.

Sure MMORPG.com asked some tough questions... but... its nothing that most of us that are labeled as "Haters" by the fanbois have been screaming about for years.

Most of us that are skeptical about DF, have been following the game since we played UO and AC1. We were at one point in time rather hopeful about the game (at least I know I was)... but you can only fake start beta so many times, pretend to be close to launch so many times. Eventually you get to the point that you want to see some hard evidence before you get your hopes up again.

Adventurine could turn around the DF negativity TOMORROW, by letting IGN, MMORPG, Gamespy, and a few others into beta, and giving them freedom to post what they think. Information would flood out, skeptics would have their doubts either shattered or confirmed, and DF would get some much needed publicity.

Adventurine however has chosen to treat DF like the roswel incident. We know somethings going on in that dessert, but we dont know if its aliens or a weather ballon.

IF darkfall is as close to release as Tasos claims, then there is no reason to NOT get the media behind them. Its free advertising.

However, assuming everything is as good as Tasos says (which we have no third party to verify that) the only thing that disturbs me is beta. Several hundred people is less than 1000. Most MMO servers now have 2000 - 10000 people on one server. With so few people there, they have no way of stress testing the servers or their network. Even if Darkfall is as badass as we are being led to believe, we are being setup for experiencing server side lag and conectivity issues that havent been seen since the first week of Ultima Online launch back in August of 1997.

actully this has been convered in journal but it wasnt full of details how but yea they found a way to do tis called npc/ai that cause just as much stress as real players. also you can packet spam the server.

but ir emeber taoss saying the server cant till the diffrence between a real player and the npc/bots/ai in game
pretty good hint how they did it

Ah, yes. The amazing Darkfall AI which not only controls all those goblins but also beta test the game.

I still get a laugh from that one.

that isnt what tasos meant by a i helping them it really hard ot explain. let me put this in a way youll understand

bots/ai/npc cause same stress as real players. (server cant tell the diffrence from players or npcs) ai skilsl up jsut like a rela player it roams it does stuff  jsu tliek a real player would it builds yada yada yada. to what extent do they help who knows but the main one i bet is stress granted theys till need to let alto of people in to double check everything. but i have seen a fake npc logged into (cough swg pre cu emulator that was causign the same stress as a real person)

There we go, I can argue that.

See, bots and AI cant cause the same stress for multiple reasons.

#1 they were programed by the same people who programed the game.

#2 Computers are only as good as they were programed

#3 Players do things programers never intended them to do or try, that pretty much breaks 2 and 1

#4 Players use third party apps to try and break the game and cheat...AI doesnt do that.

#5 Most importantly, Players connect from outside the building, from different regions, states, etc. AI connects internally. Its not going to stress test the network infrastructure.

#6 Players use different pcs, millions and millions of different systems, AI doesnt test that.

Thats just a few rather simple issues I can come up with that AI cant solve.... and those issues alone could cause MASSIVE problems.

isnt that what the hardware test is for im talking stress thats about it

do you even know how peole in cause stress to server being logged in?

My first choice would have been that the announcement will indeed be for Release sometime Q1 2009.  There will be no mention of OPEN Beta.  That is what I think will happen.  I guess we'll see if I am wrong.

That would have been a good option, sorry I missed it.

If the past is any indication then that's my first guess.

When the 2005 Clan Beta didn't happen it was never discussed again.  It has still never been discussed.  As far as Tasos is concerned it never happened... heh well I
