It's not about lazy or not patient (well, this maybe a little). Just there are players, who have work or other important activities taking their time which severely limits time, that can be spend on game. So they just spend money to buy some needed items from cash shop (if available there) or sell cash shop items to other players, gaining game money.

On the other side, there are players, who don't have money/don't want spend money on games, but have lots of time. So spend time in game, mostly grinding, and earn game money/items, which can be traded for needed cash shop items.

If good F2P game, both of those group should be possible to be equally equipped (stats and look), after spending comparable money (first group) or time (second group). Which means there are no non-tradeable/non-giftable cash items, but also there are no non-tradeable epic gear, not possible to obtain unless spending days/weeks on grinding. I know some games which fails badly in those aspects, but RH looks OK.

I prefer to pay for good games too (rather in euro, not in dollars), but i still prefer F2P titles. There is lots of them and even if lots of them has low quality, if you search a little you can find interesting titles.

I tried few P2P games and none of them looked in my eyes worth paying subcriptions (best for me was RIFT - i could force myself to play more than 1st month, but i had other games more matching my preferences, worst - WoW, really i was stunned, why this game is biggest in P2P market, is really nothing special).

So if someone not like any of F2P games, is normal for me normal, as i did not found P2P game worth my time. Why such hate? Bad games will die fast anyway, regardless of pricing model. If you don't like F2P at all, just don't play those titles.

There is actually a gift system to improve your social standing with NPC characters for perks. I am not sure where this goes yet so I am sitting on the fence.

Is nothing really problematic, just another possible (but not required) thing to do in game. After gaining friendship with npc (in most cases it requires completing some quest chains, only one npc requires having 100 gold), you can just give gifts to npc (gifts drop in dungeons anyway and giving them to npc is more profitable than just selling) and talk with them later. In exchange npc will send you some items (worth more than those npc gifts) plus some small additions ('hot' pictures of female npc).

The chat UI is still simpler to use than DCUO but it won’t see much use in combat as it requires you to exit mouse targeting. Not sure you really need to chat in battle for this game yet though.

It is general problem with chatting during combat, not only in this game. If you write in chat, you cannot use skills, so usage of chat is limited in instances. That's why voice chat programs are so popular in all mmo.

lot of cuteness that can serve as a casual off game whenever you feel a need to whack something and not think too hard. I was very involved with combat. I spent two hours before I knew it.

I personally was very reluctant at start. Never played non-targeting mmo, so i was afraid that it will require lots of keyboard/mouse smashing ;p but it happened to be rather easy to learn (well, some classes require lots of mouse clicking in combat). Combat in DN is usually just pure fun (well, after some time is not that exciting, but still not boring).

You guys ever played Perfect World games? Asion F2P = cash shop ALWAYS.

Every F2P game has cash shop. It's nothing unusual. How can F2P developers earn money in other way? Is just depend, what items will be available in cash shop and how much those items will have impact in game play. Customization items are best for cash shop - they are not required to play at all, have no impact in gameplay (unless cash shop gear has embedded stats, than is another story - playing players gain unfair advantage) but if you have money, you may want to buy them to make your characters looking unique.

Save your money and play something like SWTOR or GW2.

SWTOR = P2P (as i checked now, i'm was not really interested in this title), so may not have cash shop, but as subscription based - without money you cannot play at all.
GW2 = B2P, also requires money to start playing (and will have cash shop).
Those are just another league. Not all can spend money to play, not all want to spend money on game before can try game.

Also, just to ask. But why did mention having EU servers in South America? Last time I checked, SA was not part of EU. But hell, I may be wrong since I don't care about stuff like that.

That's why:

And when did I say it had to be in a EU area only?

I was just speculating answering to this question (if not EU area only release, than (EU + <another area(s)>) release, South America was just one of (im)possible <another areas>).

Well, there could be another releaser for EU area only (Nexon EU maybe? They have very long delays in releases (see Vindictus EU), but it is possible).

It said 2011, it did not say that it would release the next month. There's still 4 months left.
And when did I say it had to be in a EU area only?

There are already releases for NA and SEA (plus some asian countries with big MMO market), so what large area left to be in common with EU?
South America? Don't think so. Where would be servers located, so both parts would have acceptable pings. SA players would rather use SEA version (or NA, if could be unblocked).

Africa? Non existing target of MMO developers (in global (real global) MMORPG you can sometimes meet players from Africa, but is very rare thing).

West asian countries or Russia (often has different release)? Possible to include those with UE area, but it still makes almost the same EU only (or mostly) release.

SEA allows everyone to play, but their servers are located somewhere in the middle of the desert (physically no, ping-wise, yes.)

If SEA makes at least one server dedicated for UE area (with better pings, does not matter where is located), it would be enough for me. Nexon NA cannot do this (bought license for NA only), maybe SEA can (unless there is some other developer for UE only area, which means UE players may be blocked in future on SEA too.

Yesterday, Shanda's CEO Tan Qunzhao confirmed on the conference that Dragon Nest will be released in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia this year.
Source : http://news.mmosite.com/content/2011-01-20/dragon_nest_confirmed_to_release_in_na_eu_and_sea_in_2011.shtml (And tons of other wbsites if you google it)

But is from January, now is 8 months later. If we assume cherrycredits version as SEA and EU in common, than facts would be correct.

I really hope the EU version will come, and also be hosted by a good company.

Point at least one good distributor company, which releases MMORPG in EU only area. I don't remember such one (well, maybe such diamond is very good hidden and not shines till now). So if there will be EU only release, don't expect miracles.

This is 'global' (global in current mmorpgs usually is not true global, but rather 'available to all, except countries, where was/is/will be local version') version, so i would not wait for specific EU only DN release. Would be nice to have server located in EU to minimize connection lags, but better not divide players population even more. Quote from www page:

Dragon Nest exists in several versions. Besides our service in Singapore and Malaysia, the
developer, EYEDENTITY Games, has also licensed out Dragon Nest in South Korea, China,
Taiwan, Japan, Canada, North America, Australia and Thailand. To protect the licensees'
interests, users from the aforementioned licensed regions are blocked from playing our
Dragon Nest SEA service.

Q. Is this game available for Europe?
A. Dragon Nest is only available to our US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand customers.

Q. How long will OB last?
A. July 26th - August 9th.

For those living outside of NA and Australia there will be SEA version available ( http://dn.cherrycredits.com/ ). CBT already ended, OBT will start few weeks later after NA version. For SEA version different answers will be:

Q. Is this game available for Europe?

Yes, Dragon Nest SEA is available for Europe.
South Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, Canada, North America, Australia and Thailand are all ip blocked from downloading the client and playing the game. The reason being that each of these countries already have a local version and you should be able to play in your local version instead, this is to prevent licensing issues with the other game versions.

Q. How long will OB last?
A. mid August - ???

Examples of mmorpgs available in EU, but not in NA (maybe not best ones around, but still existing):
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/266/Priston-Tale-II-2nd-Engima.html
http://feature.mmosite.com/martialempires/

SEA version ( http://dn.cherrycredits.com/ - currently CB, Open beta in 2 months) is available for EU players, so it solves problem. Too bad EU players rarely have chance to play with NA players (lots of MMO games have area restrictions).

The main feature in my mind is the fact that you can build player-owned cities and, apparently, defend them from other guilds.

Guild-owned cities cannot be attacked at all. Is just place to visit.

You probably already know about the more advertised features, like being able to change your class on the spot at any time

One more thing, which is not as good in game as it was advertised. Cannot change class when in combat, which can be very limited sometimes, for example if tank or healer dies while fighting boss, other party member cannot change class to replace them, must end combat and restart later.

I doubt it help much, some may return for short time to see new races, but is not that much difference (races have different look and stats, but quests are the same for all, so repeating with new char will be very boring). Players are already leaving EE (is easy to grind fast to max level, but than there is nothing interesting to do in game - no good pvp, no challenging instances) and simply adding new race will not be much difference in gameplay. Something more is needed to keep or raise playerbase.

Some more stats about other races:
http://wiki.aeriagames.com/edeneternal/index.php?title=Races
http://www.aeriagames.com/forums/en/viewtopic.php?t=1159067

It is still beta (testing phase), so no need to put all content in game, but at least few choices would be very nice from start. Too bad, at start of OB was available only one human race.

best F2P game that exists!!

Is it your first or second F2P game? Than you can say EE is best, but only from games you know.
From my perspective (i'm not hardcore player, but tried more than 10 F2P games, some for longer time), EE compared to other F2P games has only few unique futures: one character can learn and use all available classes, class can be switched fast almost everywhere (somehow limited, cannot change class in combat). All other EE futures, even guild towns are already present in other games.Graphically EE looks maybe nice, but definitely there is lots more looking F2P games, combat - typical skill smashing, classes - class types very typical (we have: tank, healer, mage, rogue, hunter), advanced classes are more interesting (like engineer - ranged dps and close area dps in one pack), lots of dungeons, some bosses require some tactic, but dungeons for small parties only (3-5). EE is very nice F2P game to play, but far from best that exists.

For leveling second class you don't need actively play that class! Just made some quests using your main (warrior) class, switch to secondary (druid) class and just go to NPC to complete quest (you can complete quests if quests level is no more than 10 higher than your actual main class level). Best for this are daily quests, which require collecting items (monsters drops), after collecting enough items for 10 such quests, switch class, complete dailies, switch back (sometimes you need to switch class few times, to get quest as warrior and complete as druid, if quest level is higher than your secondary class level) and you have leveled secondary class without even need to learn playing this class (only required thing for you is to choose which druid skills available as warrior, are worth to increase).

Stopped reading Roaki's posts the moment he claimed Guild Wars was a MMO.
Guild Wars is as much a MMO as Diablo 2 is.
"Massively" means you're able to interact with the "massive" playerbase at any given time/place within the game world.

According to this description, any game which has instanced parts (and most of current MMORPG have instanced parts - limited to one party/raid) is not "massive" - inside instances you cannot interact with "massive" playerbase, so 'any time/place' failed there. Fact is, that in Guild Wars instanced is most of the world, as in other games instances (if are) are usually limited areas within much bigger non-instanced world. This made GW rather unique MMORPG or even not MMORPG at all, but some other type of game .... but such difference is only important before 'end-game'. Most MMORPG on endgame are centered on instanced parts (raiding / pvp areas), most players spend time in "lobbies" between instanced parts as there is nothing interesting to do for them on non-instanced parts of world (there are always some gatherers/grinders/wanderers, sometimes some game events worth to participate, but only part of players is interested in this), so is not much different than in GW.

New flash game?
General Discussion « Aika
10/27/10 5:30:12 AM

Those flash games are nice, but in game obtaining desired personality for pran is much harder and longer process (it takes like 50 or more talks with pran, before she will fix one personality). There are some help resources:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tDvbNpzISRDLhnNe9QAN3zA&output=html

http://tables.googlelabs.com/DataSource?dsrcid=129925

But still lots of pran's talks is not covered there and only 'common sense' or just luck can help sometimes to choose good answer. My pran at lvl 22 got Suzumiya Haruhi's energetic character (i have japanese sounds, so even talks are similar) and i'm pretty content with that. Aiming for sexy character for another pran, but if i get different character, it will be good too.

One of 6 possible teenager's pran  personality is called sexy (or sassy or mature, depending of version), so those kind of pran's are called sexy, is not general name for all pran's. In fact, sexy pran's are rather rare sight in Aika (cause those personality is not easy to obtain).

Even if some purist or prudes may find some parts of game disturbing, it does not change my opinion. Aika is very good game to play for all, has some lacking points (even with quests leveling is too much grindy, very limited customization, gender locked classes,  too fast to reach end-game), but still has some nice or unique futures, lots of pvp activities, some funny and interesting areas (map looking like skull, penguins on desert ...) nice looking and very detailed gear, pran - cute and never boring companion. In global Aika you can add very good game support (gPotato lacked more in this area) and often game changes.

No parent would also want her daughter to be involved in combat, where can be wounded or even die. Still this is only game, not reality. Looks like pran's parent (goddess Aika, players are not pran's parents, just temporary companions) does not care much

This thread, from the official GPotato Aika forums, shows what the community thinks of the mature (or as many of them call her, the sexy pran):  http://aika-forum.gpotato.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8990

- My Pran has taken on my personalty completely... Best. Pran. Ever.
- ; ~; Why can't my pran be like that.
- Hearing a sexy Pran is even more funnier
- But damn thats one funny comment i laughed my arse off when i first saw this one.
- Omg that's so hilarious, almost makes me want the creepy sexy pran. Almost.
- lol'd >.< i got a Sexy pran too but Q_Q i cant see her anymore, i maked a facking hard work to get her. Anyway... i want to see how Sexy Pran in Adulthood phase will be.
- LOL... I have a sexy pran too. Just wait till you get the "What's your favorite kind of nut?" question. ...I facepalmed when I read her response.
- I like korean sexy pran face she is always blushes

As i see from this thread, community generally very much likes mature/sexy prans.
