Just because a game does not have 11 million subs does not mean its a flop. WOW's active subs are nowhere near the 11 million mark (that is a life time sub number).

WOW has some good mechanics but just because a game decided to use a similar UI (if it works don't fix it) does not mean its a clone.

I played WOW for years. If you want to get into the clone trolling. WOW is a clone of better games like DAOC, EQ, ect....

All used the same UI. The skill system is similar but not the same. Rifts skill system is far superior to WOW's. Having the ability to creat you character the way you want instead of a build that EVERYONE uses at end game make the game stale and lame.

WOW has had it day in the sun and it has its good points as well. They are running out of ideas and everyone knows it.

The only reason WOW is as popular as it is, is because they made a game that any person can play (10+) and master. Advanced players make people rage quit in WOW cause as much as it is a gear race good players will tear you apart with craptastic gear.

WOW kids will continue to play WOW and other gamers that are looking for something new will continue to look till they find siomething that suits them.

I am personally looking forward to TOR for the story (huge Mass Effect fan) and the fact its not about power leveling (WOW), Getting all your super gear (WOW), and then standing around waiting for 4-12 months for new content (WOW).

All I am saying is the game is its own and you can't judge it till you have tried it. If it sucks, people won't play it.

I completely agree. There should not be race restrictions accept for wookies and sith. I could see the sith race only being empire but all others? Wookie jedi are just as bad. Maraluka had a sith in KOTOR2 so thats a stupid reason for them to be restricted to light side.

I hope they add a lot more races personally. Thats what makes starwars a great universe. Lots of different races and possiblites.

I think that they should have different head gear for different races. Come on guys not that hard and it makes the game world more veristile since they have already said that the classes have specific gear (while you could wear any other classes but it would be dumb due to stats).

Zabrak toons aren't going to want to cover their horns any more then Twilek are going to want to be missing the latuku.

The race of the toon is just as important as the class.

Lets not make the WOW mistake with this one Bioware!

I give Bioware a lot of credit. They are master story tellers. To make the story that indepth and long will be amazing to be a part of.

And honestly, that's why I don't expect SWToR to be any different. The definition of an MMO is "A massively multiplayer online game. A computer game in which a large number of players can simultaneously interact in a persistent world". It does not matter if you play it solo or in a group its still an MMO. This makes APB, Global Agenda and SWTOR no matter how you play it an MMO. They could make it a game completely group dependent, people will just 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 box characters. Its people perspectives, way of playing, time, friends, guilds, etc that make you solo play or group play not necessarily the game.

I conpletely agree. Every game should have he ability to be solo or group played. Thats wha mak MMO games great. If you watched all the videos from E3 they showed that he group play is also very much there and they said that almost every class can heal or tank depending on how you build your character. I really wish people would do there research before making judgements on something we have seen little game play from.  Really your gonna rash on EA just because they have games you don't like. Have you even played Mass Effect?

You should watch the back story on the holonet before making coments like this one. The smuggelers joined up with the republic due to the on coming threat. I understand your point but they have already stated why they are on the republics side.

there were many reasons for this, but the main problem was that we had been playing on the same system for entirely too long. The industry didn't really recover until 1986 when the NES was released.

Given, video games didn't disappear completely. They just moved onto the home computers of the time: Comodore 64, Atari 400/800 XL, TI 99, etc. But the market was significantly reduced.

the reality is that dedicated, life-long video gamers are a shrinking minority. Just about anyone that was alive during the 70's and 80's has played a video game at some point. Most of those people moved on to other things. They moved on right about the time that video games became life devouring time sinks rather than entertaining novelities. I know because I was an arcade gamer right up to 1994 when the fighting game scene died and arcades went the way of the buffalo. Fighting games just served to reduce the number of people in the arcades because only the truely dedicated would take the time to learn the games and suffer the endless defeat required to hold their own in the public arena. Console and PC games have been in that same zone for awhile now.

You wanna know why the industry got to the size that it did? It's because the last generation of teenagers was an order of magnitude larger than the generation of baby boomers. It was, and still is, the largest population of teens in the history of the US. Teens have disposable income, tons of time and a fetish for everything new and shiney. Video games are a novelty and there are new novelties that have the current generation's attention. The bubble has burst and gaming is about to go back underground for awhile. Just like it did between 1983 and 1987.

I don' believe this for one minute. I have been gaming since I could hold a controller (Almost 25 years) and I see more gamers today then when any system in the 80-90s launched. Gaming is not dying or even going undergound. Look at all the people that play MMO's. I rememebr when MMO's had no more then 80-100k people on them if they were lucky and they survived for years. No every no brained troll screams that (insert game name here) that doesn't have 5 million plus subs is dead. come one guys grow up. The gaming industry is bigger then ever and just because its changing doesn't mean its going to die.

Thats the same problem that every other moron has given (MMO's are only good for end game). Bullshit! Games like WOW have ruined the idea of playing the game to play the game not to make it a full time job that you have to log on and get 20 other window lickers () together to spend another 4hrs farming the same instance for a small cahnce you might get your brightly colored neon pink and blue gear of uber god like power.

I am sick and tired of people thinking thats all there is to MMO's. The story line of the quests, the fun of getting from zone to zone, and the ablity to war against good or evil (your choice) is the point of these games. In UO you had no end game. Just mobs that were almost impossible to take without a plan or PvP. That was it. This whole raiding concept can be fun (in small doses). You are not uber because you followed some other guys strat on how to beat a boss or because you can do it over and over without  party wipe. Congratz jackass!  you win a cookie! Farming the same mobs for gear doesn't make you elite, its makes you sheep following a heard.

I'm looking forward to Earthrise, Fallen Earth and Star wars TOR. Earthrise looks like something new and we need more Sci-Fi MMO's. I am so sick of sword and board elves and trolls. Fallen Earth looks like it will have some char generation and peice work armor design (so everyone doesn't look the same). Star wars TOR looks like it will be fun (like Force unleashed). I am a little worried about it not having other classes posted yet but they do have a long time before the game is going to be released to post more.

Exteel is more of a deathmatch type then a MMO. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun. I would love to see a Mech Warrior MMO. Nothing like a Clan MKII with 4 g.rifles and 1 sm.pulse laser.

I agree. Starting out again for most people is a scary thought. This is why the other games released have not made a big hit like WoW. People are to concerned with the "I have to spend X amount of time regrinding up to max lvl." I love the feel of a new game with a new story and new lands to explore and new players to meet and kill. The reason why games need to release Xpacs is the same thing in disguse. grind to x lvl in new content. you replace all your awesome elite gear in the 1st new area with "not so elite gear" the sec you step out in the new Xpac. all I am saying is dont be afraid to try new things, maybe you'll like them.

Hey Metal. Is it hard to get rolling from square one in EVE? I have heard nothing but good things about it but I am sceptical due to the people telling me that you have to have an active sub for at least a yr before you can go out and do anything without getting ganked. Is any of that true?
