Vast open fields and exploratory areas need to be coupled with easy transport(mounts/vehicles), SWG has a very large game world(including planets) and is very immersive in that respect. I wish LoTRO was like that with player towns/villages, shops, houses, rather than instanced e-peen showcases. I've never played DnL and don't know a lot about it, but assuming they are a small-to-mid sized developer, they most likely got in over their head. |

After having quit, is this game really for me?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 3/14/08 11:21:40 PM
Brandywine is populated but mostly by guilds and high levels. I hit 22 today but have yet to meet anyone really, only grouped with high levels that were bored. I'm tired of WoW myself and would probably go more hardcore into LoTRO if I knew people who played. I think thats what the game comes down to. |

I'm not sure SOE has made massive profits since the original EQ. Even SWG in its prime wasn't making mass profit. |

This announcement makes or breaks this game for me.

Sounds like you expect LoTRO to cater only to the desires of a casual gamer who uses the game in an unhealthy fashion to escape their life, rather than a hobby thats innovative, unrepetitive(PvE), and may actually require input against another sentient being in a test of intelligence. |

What's the deal with the supposed "relaunch" of VG?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 3/11/08 10:23:35 PM
I think it would be absolutely poetic and hilarious if this relaunch was "Vanguard: New Game Experience". |

Wow...when were there snow speeder and AT-AT mounts? Saw a lot of vehicle combat in that. On another note, that game has never looked that smooth before. |

Sadly I too am looking for a good guild on Brandy, 21 Champion. I may switch servers and classes soon :( |

SKEA SKEA players enjoy teamwork and cooperation, but feel that the main challenges of a virtual world come from the other players rather than the environment. They enjoy forming groups and alliances that will pit themselves against other players--and they gain the most satisfaction when they defeat organized groups of other players. When they aren't playing against other players, they enjoy all of the social aspects of the game. Breakdown: Achiever 33.33%, Explorer 46.67%, Killer 60.00%, Socializer 60.00%

World of Warcraft: Blizzard Discourages Gold Buying
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/05/08 9:08:59 PM
I wonder if we reference news like this when they move to a business model like SoE's(servers where you can buy gold, levels, gear, etc.), if they'll ban people by the truckload much like they do for anything else they see fit? |

PvP lacking Strategic Abilities?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 2/28/08 10:06:30 PM
Originally posted by DevalonI don't need to watch any video's. Other than Arena, WoW PvP is a big clusterfuck. I've played every class at high level and have a complete understanding of the major imbalances in solo and team PvP. Most PvP video's are twitch skillers running around ganking people or using an overpowered class/toon to lame it up against a totally unprepared opponet.
And the guy above who mentioned jumping around in a sword fight is right. Frankly a dwarf shouldn't be able to leapfrog people, nor a gnome. |

Believe it or not, abilities do not equal strategy, regardless of their mechanics. Strategy is about team work, execution, and tactics. One of the reasons people dislike WoW PvP is the lack of strategic gameplay and the importance of luck and gear. One on one fights using a high damage and crowd control class requires little in the area of strategy beyond having a rotation of buttons to mash. |
