There is NO way they will launch in February.....and they are, indeed, massively in debt. I'm not a disgruntled anything.  FYI...I simply am friends with several people who CURRENTLY work there and are constantly on edge about whether they are getting paid (pay checks have been up to 5 days late for several months at this point) or whether they have enough time to finish this and get it launched before the money runs out.

I'm not a doomsayer but  it'll take a lot of hard work (which is happening on every level) and some serious cash influxes to make it happen. Here's hoping *crosses fingers*

Ah, yes - A "newbie" joins and his/her first post is claiming to have inside knowledge of the innerworkings a game.  Yeah, right.  And the comment "there is NO way they'll launch in February" doesn't match the rest of the post.  If they were having THAT much trouble, they'd launch in February to get money asap, regardless of the bugs (we've all seen this before, eh?).

Granted, I have no doubt that money is tight.  Of course it is, it is their first game and they have no income right now.  To say that money is tight is too obvious to be worth putting into print.  Any new company would be in this situation.  The main point to consider is how late the game is (as in, they planned their burn rate for a certain amount of time to put this out).  Yes, the game has been pushed back a bit, but nothing like I've seen others do, yet.  The fact that they are in beta says that they are highly unlikely to run out of money before the game comes out.  Limping to the finish line? - probably.  They have a lot of industry veterans that have experience here, so that should help.

It's always a shame when people root for something to fail, after all - there are a lot of jobs, families, lives at stake here.  And, poster, before you say "I'm not rooting for it to fail, just stating the facts" - then consider why you would even write this type of post?  If you really do have friends working there, why would you pass this kind of info along and potentially hurt their careers?  Either you are a bad friend or a total liar by posting that.

Flame away if you feel the need, but I'm right.

I think it looks solid, it's just too bad the video is so short.  Of course, its not going to appeal to someone who only like to swing a sword (or axe) but as a shooter, this looks like the best I've seen so far.

Star Trek Online looks horrible.  It's going to have to rely on loyal fans to make it, and they'll get bored fast if it isn't a good game.

Stargate Worlds will have a headstart and looks to be a pretty fun title.  There's enough different things to make it interesting.  I just hope the leveling is top notch.  I lose interest in a game after I've level capped.

Wow, what a great article, thanks for posting - I would have missed it.

This guy doesn't even know Stargate and he loves the game, that's great to hear.  Personally, I'm excited about the puzzles.  I'm looking forward to shooting at things, but I'm really hoping that they've put time and thought into the puzzle aspect.

I just hope that its going to be unique. There are to many WoW clones in the MMO scene. I would really hate for this to happen to SGW This may be one of the only franchise based MMO's besides The Lord of the Rings Online to actually be successful.

The setting is unique enough. A WoW style sci-fi based game is a GOOD thing.

Well, you may get flamed for saying that, but I completely agree.  Wow has it right, it's an enjoyable easy to play game.  But the genre is a little played out.  A solid sci-fi title is long overdue. I hope this one is it.

Im sure since its no monhtly fees that they will have some major x-pacs which means atlantis

I'm not sure where you got your information, but there will be a monthly fee for Stargate Worlds.

Also, the devs have said many times that the first expansion pack will be Atlantis.

I definitely like the idea of creating worlds that aren't already in the lore that is Stargate.  After reading all of the details about the game, it is clear that the devs are working to stay true to the show.   However, why not make some worlds that are completely from scratch?  Almost like a new episode!  I love that idea and hope they take full advantage of being creative and developing brand new worlds, creatures, and stories (sounds like they are!).

I agree.  Take some creative ideas and do things that aren't in the show.  As long as it still has the Stargate feel, etc.  Also, it sounds like new worlds will be coming out regularly, so it would be great to keep up with something that was introduced in Atlantis at the same time.

Although the game is based on ranged combat (which is great imo), I would love the devs to throw in a world or two that completely changes the style of combat.  Maybe because guns won't work for some reason or you lose your gun and can't find another.  I think it would be fun to have a few worlds where you have to fight with swords (just because they can!!).

I've seen the game in play and it looks AMAZING!!  I've never seen the show, but I couldn't believe how great this game looks.

I've seen gameplay on Anima Vitrus and it is one of the best looking games I've seen.  The plants and trees, etc all move.  That is, even the trees off in the distance have a slight sway to them, making it all seem very real (it's not like the background is static).

I wasn't familiar with the game until a few weeks ago, but I'm definitely a believer now.  I'm going to have to start watching the show.

I'm rooting for this game and think it will be great.  I'm ok with delays if they help the game play better, but it's up against some strong competition.  I'm just not sure how much more anyone can take of yet another WOW expansion.  Looking forward to something different.

Shadowmage summed it up very nicely.

Simply put, this is a fine game.  I'm playing it now and have a great time.  It's not the best I've ever played, but it's the first SciFi I've played.  So, that's a nice change of pace.  I can't imagine playing this for 3 years, but until something better comes along (Conan?  Aion?  Stargate Worlds?) I am having a good time.

See you in the game...

I hate to interrupt the bashing of entire countries, but I must say that I'm pumped to play this game!  It looked like it was on track to be released, but I'm worried about the dates being pushed back.  The game looks great and reading the comments of people who have played makes me excited to play.

Just wanted to say.  Now, on with the "I don't like it when people are different than me" talk.
