I have not played EvE (although i wish to) yet after reading articles, overviews, player reviews, etc i have to admit that the open ended freedom of the game sounds pretty awesome. to me a great game totally engrosses you. a game where you can do something boring yet still have fun is what helps make a game that much more a part of you. i mean, every day we all do boring things in our lives, thats just how it is. now to play a game where its like another world, a place you can escape to, a place you get excited about visiting- even if you have to sometimes partake in monotonous activities brings out the fun in your laborous efforts. its like self discipline in a way. to some it may seem stupid or seem like a waste of time but to others it offers up a greater sense of realism. i dont know how many hours i spent mining and skinning and herb gathering in WoW or collecting lumber or beast meat in AO but it's all worth it in the end. its even better when you can just pretty much put the game on auto pilot and get the task done and step away from your computer to get real-life tasks done. i dont know, i think those parts of games are cool. |

I downloaded AO last week and so far i havent spent too much time on it (i work 1st so i try to sleep a little) probably only ten hours or so but so far this game is really intriguing! The whole concept is completely awesome, its such an original game. yeah the graphics are a throwback to snes era but thats not a problem. i dig the graphics, they remind me of Suikoden (any fans?) which is one of my all time favorite games. the only problem so far that i have noticed is the translation in AO. maybe its me but some of the text gets confusing at times. you can talk to an npc but you have to do a little decoding to understand what theyre saying. this isn't in all cases but a few so far.
i will admit that i have always had a thing for angels. im not religous in any sense but there is something about angels that has always caught my attention. so, to play a game that revolves around angels and evil and all that jazz is pretty neat.
to each his own. i dig it, others hate it- its like that with every game. props to anyone who is a fan and to those who arent, well, too bad i guess. |
