B2P, F2P, or the current method (which I ASSUMED was B2P already but I guess i'm wrong...) that SWTOR has.. EIther way, it doesn't fix the myriad of issues. Also, topic and poll question do not match...lol..... ANYWHO - no, it could not have beaten WoW because WoW was more polished at release and the in-game mechanics were sound and achieved what they were meant to achieve. Sure it had some bugs. All games have bugs (SWTOR HAS A SHIT TON) but the core mechanics worked and did not leave room for improvement. SWTOR leaves A LOT to be desired. The main issue with WoW at launch is it had FAR too many people trying to play it, something Blizzard did not expect because no other MMO had (or has since) reached that blindly fast growth rate and popularity. Look at SWTOR, its been 1 month and 2 days since launch and it is already losing players, not gaining.

Perma-banned for using a meme
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/21/12 11:34:24 PM
Come on people... "i'm 12 and what is this" is used SO OFTEN. Its a joke. An internet meme that the OP has already mentioned. Yes, MODS are not expected to know every internet meme out there, or any at all but...come on MODs, major fail... they should only be worried about the age of the person paying for the account. Done. |

Bioware is NOT listening....(or are they?)

Despite all of the othe glaring flaws, the ability and GCD problems were my biggest gripe. If they fix these, I would consider returning. |

Why some people like to play healer?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/20/12 4:24:46 PM
I rolled a healer for a few reasons (keep in mind I am primarily a pvp player). 1. Most people who play mmorpgs are bad. When you have a bad healer, your group dies that much faster. 2. I was sick of dying quickly because of bad healers. 3. If you want a job done right, you need to do it yourself. |

Current Graphs Showing Decline - (Found something interesting).
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/20/12 3:49:49 PM
While I do not trust websites like the ones OP listed, since they are third party, independant sources, I will say that as a player I have noticed a drop in population. People can contribute this to many things: Holidays are over, school starting again, people coming back from vacation, ect. But the fact of the matter is, the population is decreasing. |

Diablo 3: Changing Systems to Get It Right
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/19/12 11:33:23 PM
"Our job isn't just to put out a game, it's to release the next Diablo game. No one will remember if the game is late, only if it's great. We trust in our ability to put out a great game, but we're not quite there yet" This is what sets companies like Blizzard, Bethesda, Valve, and Firaxis apart: They do not put out a game until they know it will be great. Sure, every game has bugs but theres a HUGE difference between a game having bugs and a game having broken or mediocre gameplay and mechanics. |

EA falls on broker concerns about 'Star Wars'
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/19/12 1:32:11 PM
Originally posted by Paragus1 I think they might be counting box sales for the first complete 30 days. Judging by SWTOR's server pop going down, I think that box sales had a huge drop after christmas and the game is no longer growing - which I assume must be below expectations. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Imperial March to Valor Glory
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/19/12 6:06:22 AM
Originally posted by Kainis The premise of the game was a war between Sith (Imperials) vs Jedi (Republic). Each of their trailers showcased this. In case you want to watch them again Players have a right to think that SWTOR was going to have a huge focus on pvp since that is what the developers of SWTOR advertised the game to be. If you truly believe that SWTOR is "glaringly pve tacked on pvp to give it's customers options", despite the game being hyped up as a massive battle between Imperials and Republic, then don't blame us pvpers for BELIEVING the devs. Blame the devs for LYING to us. |

BioWare's answer to 1.1 criticism
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/19/12 5:54:45 AM
Originally posted by StarI Oh yes - they are enjoying the amazing story, the cool abilities and animations, and living out a character in the old republic universe. I enjoy that too. Doing it with my friends is a huge plus! But I can't ignore the multiple bugs i've seen everyday. I can't ignore the faulty coding that causes my brand new rig to stutter everywhere I go. I cannot ignore the bad implementation of pvp objectives. I can't ignore global cooldowns and abilities not being in sync. I cannot ignore players teleporting around a warzone. I'm a pvper. What can I say? Good story telling and quest are not high on my agenda compared to fluid gameplay and fair but competitive pvp goals.

BioWare's answer to 1.1 criticism
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/19/12 5:20:09 AM
Bad planning. Bad design. Bad management. The disaster of 1.1 is just a single piece of an ever growing picture: The CULTURE of Bioware/Mythic/EA is what is killing the game. The devs who designed this game are human beings: many of them probably realized this wasn't going to work or it would turn out badly. But somebody in the company said "push it out. We need this right away". Everybody on the swtor pvp forums is furious about this, many going so far as to request a rollback. sigh. I kind of suspected this, especially since EA and Mythic were involved. Shame on me. Great quest givers and cut scenes will only get an mmorpg so far. |

If anybody has played any previous pvp games with multiple classes, they know how difficult it is to balance. A major focus for D3 is pvp, while adding unique and distinct gameplay for each class. If they can only do that with 5 classes at launch then that is perfectly acceptable. This is Blizzard we are talking about, not EA. They won't release a product that isn't finished. |
