Mythic. Still waiting to see how this whole Mythic/Bioware thing turns out. |

Holy crap - you guys really must not like to PvP if you have such disdain for dueling. I mean GODDAM we got some carebears in here (just kidding lol). Dueling is great. Sure, those annoying assholes who spam request or gloat/cry after a match piss off everybody, but they are few and far between and everybody knows they are dicks and secretly have no friends. Dueling is great because... It lets you practice a pvp situation without actually having to die. You don't have to sit around for 30 seconds waiting to be rezzed. You don't have to worry about being instantly zerged. You get to pvp in a controlled environment. You should compare dueling for pvpers like athletes practicing their sports. Dueling allows you to learn other classes' abilities. You get to practice what happens when that Bounty Hunter pops his Energy shield or that Sniper is getting ready to burst you and you should line of sight him or her. You get to see how close you should be to interrupt a cast or how far you should be to kite melee. Its practice. Sure 1v1 isn't balanced but atleast you'll learn how to react in situations and what abilities to watch for and how to counter them. Dueling is just a tool that good pvpers use to get better. Don't worry if you lose. Everybody loses. Its just part of getting better. |

Has Bioware Failed by not having "recount" in their game at launch?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/08/12 12:49:40 AM
A game doesn't need addons. I also don't think Blizzard relies on addons. Playing the game from vanilla I can tell you the game was working just fine when I didn't use any. I still know people that don't use any addons. However, having used addons for the past couple of years I can say that addons do improve the game. Think about it like this: If there was no need to improve, then there would be no improvement. Look at smart phones and how they utilize apps. Its the same concept. Blizzard probably would have implemented Recount by now but they knew that most people do not want to see themselves getting destroyed repeatedly on healing, tanking, or dps. Leave it as an addon. Let the raiders who know how to utilize it properly do the extra work to read and analyze its information (and the general DPS dick heads YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) Also things like quest helper, target symbols, ability proc warnings, class color health bars - addons like that were so helpful to players who had them that Blizzard decided it was a good idea to implement them and they were right - players like these features. You don't need to use them though. I wholeheartedly agree that addons improve a game, not hinder it. I will also have to politely disagree with loke666 and say that immersion is a state of mind and may be felt by players playing with addons and may never be felt by players playing without addons. |

Why I Quit SWTOR: The 30 Minute Saga... (Star Wars PvP & Gameplay)

OP here. Thanks for the feedback. Just want to state again I did not make this video I just agree with all the points the author made. As a PvP player, I was sorely disappointed in the PvP in SWTOR and I have noticed that many of the skilled PvPers from other games have given SWTOR a big thumbs down. I have taken your guy's advice and I have canceled my SWTOR sub. |

Originally posted by miagisan I see. Well to stir this back on course: We should compare SWTOR to WoW, and to EQ before it if they share a mechanic or feature in each game. Nothing wrong with doing that to make a valid point about a failed system. |

Some of the big ones: -Knockback galore. Annoying in multiple level warzones. -Abilities generally not "fun". No cool abilities like blink, bubble, frost nova, sheep, totems, shadowstep, disengage, mind control, spirit link, bladestorm, army of the dead, ect. There is a charge, a little sprint, and a pull ability, but thats it. -Healing is just pressing same buttons over and over again. No skill involved. Defensive cooldown manangement amounts to little to nothing. -Cast bar disappears randomly (linked to ability delay) -Ability delay lowers the pace of combat. Hinders pvp because global cooldown, cast animation, and cast bar are not in sync. Contrary to what people think, Ability delay effects EVERYBODY. -Camera snapping (smart camera permanently on). -Nameplates not clickable. -Raid frames are not always accurate. (That raid frame showed a player at 100% but he was really at 25% and vice versa). - Ilium being a massive zerg fest. Dropping FPS to less then 10. (Experienced this in warzones as well). - Overall low skill cap to separate good players from bad players. Proper LOS'ing, fake casting, faking interrupts, cooldown management, ect all are thrown out the window. - Login screen times extremely long. |
