Anybody else realize the Sith are the good guys?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 5/24/09 3:43:45 AM
I think to compare the two codes that the Sith one is more dangerous on a day to day basis. If someones negative passions get the better of their reason they could become twisted. Both are flawed but I think the Sith one appeals to me slightly more. I would like to add a few conditionals to it such as do no inflict pain on innocents. Do not allow passion to overrule your reason. Because if I really think about the Sith code its not so much talking about individual freedoms as it is being guided solely by emotions and passions and I think reason is an important element in individual behaviour that their code neglects which reigns in a lot of the negative emotion effect. The Jedi by contrast shouldnt blanket condemn all passion. Basically the Jedi are too controlled by reason and authority at the expense of their emotion and individualism and the Sith are too blind due to their lack of logic and reason and their blind faith in emotions and power.

Seriously do missions or mine at the start itll get you some ISK which is what you really need. These are the two most generic ways people start out, you can always try something more fun if you know what you want to do but most people feel lost at this stage. But whats much more important is to be looking at the market and particularly the skills tab and picking up everything and training it. This should pretty much be your initial aim make some ISK and get some skills. Upgrade to the best frigate is probably a priority. Constantly read the rookie help channel and join the recruitment channel and join a newb friendly corp. Ask questions constantly. Really this is what will show you what you really want to do eventually and once you start gaining knowledge and resources you'll be able to put it into practice. Ill summarise some of the stuff you can do starting with the easiest most casual friendly yet boring (IMO). Some of the things you can do and ways to get into them (all inaccurate) 1. Mission whore (train for a cruiser then a battleship and get your racial weapons trained) 2. Miner (go for cruisers then a mining barge) 3. Killing NPC rats (same as missions) 4. Trading (train for industrials and trading skills get the ones that let you make remote buy and sell orders ASAP) 5. Manufacturing (train mining barges probably best bet no experience here) and Research (get science skills get blueprints and datacores) 6. Exploration and mini professions (train missions then get the astrometrics skills and probing skills) 9. Low Sec Piracy (join a piracy corp and learn find a T2 ship you want to pilot and train for it) 10. Factional Warfare (same as above) 11. Mercenary (same as above) 12. 0.0 Warfare (decide if you want to fly big (BC and up) or small ships if you want capitals train up to Battleship then move onto capitals if you want small ships can stop at cruiser or frigate training, join a 0.0 alliance or corp) |

Dont put bounties on pirates its a waste of ISK since they can use an alt or someone they know to kill them and just get the money. Bounty mechanics are kind of messed up in Eve you have to talk to and hire mercenaries (players) to get that sort of thing done properly (but then again they could scam you). I suggest you join the recruitment channel and join a corp asap and always ask questions in rookie channel about everything. |

Eve started with low numbers and now usually has 50,000 players logged on at the same time. |

Eh I didnt think ogres were a faction in tabletop Id rather have one of: Destruction Skaven Beastmen Chaos Dwarves (they are quite cool have black beards that look like dreadlocks magic, slavery and like the greenskins)
Order is so much harder
Lizardmen (in Altdorf its horrible I know) Bretonnians (there are no mounts difficult kotbs will be in empire so what classes....ummm) Wood elves and forest allies(3rd elf class sucks I know but lots of interesting classes potentially dryad would be cool wood elves are very different from high elves unlike most fantasy games)

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: Hickman - Addressing the Cut Classes
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/30/08 4:43:36 PM
As for bugs the main one irritating me is when I use the Grip of Fear AoE root (read frost nova) the mob continues to look like its running at me.
Other problem is the antisocial attitude! |

WAR seems a good game but the performance issues just irritate me too much.
WoW is a good game! WoW's success has sparked all MMORPGs to follow its design which isnt good and has killed off innovation if you want to blame anyone blame companys trying to copy it to steal its subscribers and the increased costs of producing video games in modern times which make innovation very risky for all companies. |

Will The Races Be Replicating WoW?
Game Suggestions « Lord of the Rings Online 9/30/08 7:42:13 AM
Tolkien popularised the generic fantasy elf you see in Dungeons and Dragons, WoW and Warhammer. All elves in these games are based on his elves which are based on old folklore from Scandinavia.
Before this type of elf was popularised if someone said the word you would have thought of a Christmas elf or a pixie like creature with no wings. Thats an elf from english folklore that are in the fairytales.
I hear he did invent the orc. |

You have to join a corp in Eve as a new player its really important for learning and you will play the game a lot more. The social aspect of Eve is one of its strongest parts and it will draw you in. Id advise you to do some more courier and kill missions for a little bit after the tutorial but to go straight onto the recruiting channel and message any corps you like the look of.
Many corps like fresh blood and will take you in show you the ropes, most have group events like complexes, mining ops, most industrial corps like PvPers since they can defend their assets better. Corps will also help you along, as a new player you'll probably be given stuff up to a cruiser class when you can fly it since credits come really easy to most vets. Also you can ask advice on skills and things and that helps give some direction with the huge number of skills available. |

The answer is to give ganking more meaningful consequences. Just make being blown up by Concord/sentries provide no insurance payout. Ganking should be a viable tactic but more risk should be involved so that running around ganking can be your way of fun but unless ur being clever with ur targets its also a way to bankrupt yourself. |

The tier 4 keep looks amazing and seems like something worth playing for alone I dont think WoW will be able to hold me having seen some of the stuff this game is offering. |

I hate stealth its so unbelievable a completely non magic based character can basically be invisible in full daylight and going by certain games completely up and disappear. Isnt invisibility a magical ability not rogues ffs. An ability like a smoke bomb on a 2 minute cooldown a character could disappear by "blinding and hiding in smoke" but appear like 10 seconds later wud make more sense than a permanent use invisibility. |

A dark elf sorceress almost certainly. Evil and sexy using dark magic and big numbers yes please lol. Will probably give the archmage and chaos magus a go also.
For some reason despite always playing mages the bright wizard really puts me off probably the over emphasis of fire. |

What career archtype do you think you'll go for as your main character?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/10/08 5:00:27 AM
I like my magic classes so I will be torn between:
Sorceress, Archmage, Magus and Bright Wizard
If I like the damage healing style Archmage otherwise sorceress sounds good since they have a stealth like invis I read. |

Actually WoW was nothing like a dead end for me at end game. When you reach level 70 there is so much more you can do than lower levels. There are about 5 REGULAR 70 5 man instances then there are retuned HEROIC 5 man instances which are ones you would have visited from 60-70 and harder versions of the 70 regular instances. With regards to solo content there is the epic flying mount something any 70 can work towards and daily quests which are often interesting and increase faction rep lending a sense of purpose beyond earning gold. The latest batch of daily quests also gradually unlock an island's features as your servers daily quests increase progression which lends a sense of purpose to the questing in making the game much less static.
To the person moaning about the graphics that is your personal preference. Many people like the artistic style of WoW and art direction is more important than technical specs anyday. Its not about the hardware and polygon crunching its about what the artists do with it.
Im not the greatest lover of WoW as I recognise its flaws monotonous levelling, and horrendous pvp, the arena and pvp balance (this is why I am looking forward to WAR). However I would regard its PvE endgames as a strong point as it is highly challenging with most casual guilds not having completed the latest endgame instances. Most people who play WoW at 70 complain not that theres nothing to do but that theres no time to do it in before the expansion raises the level.
