Patch 5.3: The Nail in the Coffin for PvP
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 5/23/13 7:53:02 AM
Originally posted by Robokapp WoW has always offered a solution to be met by reality. Not one time have they ever been able to come close to balancing pvp. Played that game for 6yrs. Every time they patched and changed stats, gear, abilities, etc. it always failed and created more problems. That is why after the Panda invasion I left. |

Some Channels are in Single Digit Player Counts!
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/23/13 7:21:27 AM
Originally posted by Ikeda The game is loaded with hacks and Cryptic/PWE only fixes those that affect their bottom line and not really fixes them just bandages 'em. Oh well, the numbers have fallen and the trust (what they had from many) is lost after this debacle. |

Open world pvp never was very affective in WoW, nor was the zone pvp (mostly because it was out leveled after so long). |

Originally posted by koboldfodder Unfortunately it seems to be where Funcom always misses the mark in their games. Age of Conan would be one of my main games, but the combat seems to lack something there. Maybe it's the animations or the game engine functionality or something else, but there is just something with Funcom combat and animations that just has me moving on. SWO has some great content, but when the combat is not fun the content is not enough to carry you through (at least for me). |

[Interview] Guild Wars 2: 'Consistent Steady Growth'
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/21/13 3:47:11 PM
I'd agree with the steady growth. I play on and off since launch and even now I log on and play, sometimes late at night est. time and all the servers are either full or high population. Sometimes the cities and starting zones do not reflect this, but if you head into the higher zones or Lion's Arch you will find many... I still at times get placed into overflow.

Neverwinter: Weekend Exploit Repaired
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/20/13 11:53:47 PM
Originally posted by Dahkoht Correct... from what I have read on different sites this is a bad code that was found in STO a while back and they just copied the code into NWO. Exploiting a game is bad, but what is worse is when the company was so lazy as to use bad code that was confirmed in another game for the new game. At this point I have lost any trust in PWE and especially Cryptic I ever had. |

Some Channels are in Single Digit Player Counts!
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/20/13 11:45:15 PM
I play on Beholder and after the whole AD/Zen and AH mess I logged on tonight. After checking at random time throughout the night it is clear the population has dropped massively on all channels on my server. Some have remained in the single digits even.
Well the game is broken and it is due (yes) in part to the exploit, but more so because of the horrible response time and inadequate response to fix issues in the game that brought about the exploit and there will be more if they don't fix the other issues people have been reporting for over a week now. Some issues were never even addressed in closed beta!
May not matter with number drops like I am seeing. |

I have played a good part of the beta so far for ARR and I can say I went into it very watchful and examined much of it with a fine tooth comb.... to ... be very pleasantly surprised by how well it played mechanically, story line wise and pretty much on an overall scale. The performance was outstanding compared to any mmo on the market today and 400 times better than it's predecessor. We are still a good bit from the flood gates opening, but I can say as one who bought the unplayable version before and was hugely disappointed this one and it's team have plucked a rabbit out of the hat of despair! I look forward to phase 3. |

I do share the same frustration as you, original poster. One thing you have to keep in mind is this... it is a free game run by lazy people. This is why the exploit was transferred from one game (STO) to another without even fixing it when they already knew it produced similar results in the first game. So..... how long do you think before the bandage they applied ruptures and all hell breaks loose again? I may just want to keep the game up to date to watch the chaos again! Besides $20.00 I purchased out of curiosity to see what the chests held I have seen little need to purchase much else. I would save money playing a sub. game vs. purchasing items in the Zen shop.

[Column] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: Dungeons in Final Fantasy XIV
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/20/13 7:34:08 PM
I enjoyed your review. I have played through beta myself and many of your thoughts on the game are close to mine. One thing that can be mentioned is that the game pad functionality is by far the best I have seen in any game... mmo or otherwise! You can become quite fluid with it and as a long time caster/healer in almsot every mmo since FFXI I can say I was more than impressed with it's functionality!!! I healed that dungeon with ease using the game pad the whole time. They need an award for this feature alone. It has taken way too long to actually have someone figure a way to do this in an mmo.

Originally posted by ragz45 Exactly. This is more the issue and what should make everyone playing and supporting the game sad... nay... angry! Cryptic and PWE has ignored a bug/exploit that was in at least one other game they created. This time it cut into their profits so it was finally addressed, but to be that lazy to use an already confirmed exploited code in another game is very sad. This along with many other ignored bug reports is what people should consider before giving them another dime of hard earned currency! |

Originally posted by VikingGamer If this was an exploit that occurred over the so called 7 hr period then most would be fine with the solution they are offering, BUT this was not just a 7 hr hiccup! This exploit has been in game for a while now and the results are massive. The only solution that is becoming acceptable by many is a full wipe, because the exploit has a huge long term ramification. Remember It's only beta so why get all worked up over a full wipe to actually fix the issue? If they wouldn't have rehashed old code from an already proven exploit in Star Trek then we wouldn't even be talking about this at all! |
|
|
Complete misleading of the truth. The fact is this exploit has been in the game since early beta NOT open beta. The amount of people that benefited from this exploit is much larger than half a day's worth of research could have determined! The amount of AD affecting the economy is in the high TRILLIONS if you do a rough estimate from when many have reported sending in exploit concerns going back into closed beta. The fact of the matter here is Cryptic and PWE were too slow to respond to this and many other reported issues in the game. The word spread over more like a 3 week period and it got to the point that Zen was completely emptied from ALL servers resulting in an "Oh SHIT!" moment on their part. What this and many other postings on their part is to do damage control on what will become a reference point in the MMO world much like 9-11 is in the Homeland Security world. I am a patient person, but also a smart one too. I saw this or something else coming over my play time in beta. Much has not been fixed and this was not a fix for what happened, it is only a bandage on a hemorrhaging wound. |

How will Cryptic fix the economy without a full wipe ?
General Discussion « Neverwinter 5/19/13 8:40:18 PM
Just in a while ago .... possible "rollbacks" for exploiters or shards.
Looks like they may be seeing the writing on the wall. Full wipe and a re-launch is what many would rather see here. This exploit was MASSIVE and by some accounts going on maybe even into alpha and closed beta. That would make the AD influx a unimaginable number and the amount of people involved in it just as high and daunting. |
|
Originally posted by khartokhar3 Yeah not like it would only take about 3 days to a week to reach capped level again. Just play in a collapsed economy that won't affect the game at all. |

They may want to rethink that statement. For many and I mean many on forums from this site to face Book hundreds if not thousands are saying they would rather see a complete wipe.

Wait , this bug existed in STO , another PWE game , and they still let it go through to NW ?

Originally posted by Maelwydd What about all the AD that was traded and used to buy items that people gave away to many many many others? Does anyone that accepted a generous gift from one of them get banned also? Is it fair for them to keep any items obtained this way and can Cryptic track all those transactions in a timely manner? Your not talking about a thousand players... your talking 10,000, maybe even 100,000+ who were a part of this. There were 100s on my server channel alone telling people how it worked and giving stuff away they purchased from the exploit. |
