that strategy appears to have backfired badly... |

uk.pc.ign.com/articles/878/878496p1.html "As for the content, things seem to start to tail off in terms of solid quest lines and more engaging content once you hit 40. In the Field of the Dead, the game's zone for those between 40 and 50, things start off at a decent clip with a few quests near the zone's beginning, but then seem to sputter to a slow crawl, offering only a few tasks and meager rewards. Compared to the polished level 1 through 20 experience in Tortage and large number of quest chains available in the 20 to 40 zones, Field of the Dead doesn't really stack up. Leveling is still entirely possible through grinding as downed mobs around your level give out pretty good experience bonuses, but opportunities to gain quest experience rewards that can so quickly propel you along the leveling curve seem to dry up. Without the strength of the narrative threads present in the 20 to 40 zones, the game turns into more of a chore to play."
or is IGN just trolling AoC too?
when a major gaming site described a game as a "chore to play", you can be sure there are issues.
let's see what the fanboys say about this one, should be amusing... |

Why I'm rapidly losing interest in Age of Conan
General Discussion « Age of Conan 6/07/08 3:46:53 PM
you posted something negative about the game, and despite justfying your subjective opinion with numerous clear and objectively described experiences, you must be labelled a troll, according to my AoC clueless fanboy handbook.

The only fail in this thread is AoC, for releasing 6 months too early.
if you guys want to keep paying for FC to fix the tons of bugs, and add the features that are written on the box but still aren't in the game, then go right ahead.
me, when i pay for something i expect to get a finished product.
regardless of how many polls there are that show a fairly high proportion of discontent, there will always be clueless morons with virtually no MMO experience rushing to defend it... and some of those are FC employees...

Valok's Age of Conan Survey - The players have spoken
General Discussion « Age of Conan 6/07/08 3:30:46 PM
i think the survey shows pretty much what a lot of us are saying - it's an OK game which was released too early, with too many bugs, and too little content. this comes through pretty strongly if you look through the individual question results. |
|
|
The OP is pretty much dead on with my impressions of the game.
it looks, feels and plays like a very unfinished game, and i wouldn't advise anyone pay for it for at least 6 months unless they are some combonation of a) masochistic, b) never played an MMO before, c) not fussy d) desperate for a change.

AoC is being updated this month, all (or most of) its problems will be solved

Originally posted by Pucks Perhaps you don't have an issue with paying full-price for unfinished/beta software, but being a professional software developer, i do.
fact is, FC promised a bunch of things, some of which are printed on the box the game came in, which are still not in the game. that is against the law, not to mention deliberately deceptive, and deeply unprofessional. |

Reading between the lines... FC know they released too early, they are losing tons of subscribers, and are having trouble deleting the negative posts on the forums fast enough to keep up.
FC are showing a lot of desperation... |

Originally posted by Mahni while that is true, it is also true that 70% were either not happy, and/or not pleased with the game in its current state.
seeing as i found the poll linked from the official AoC EU forums, and as much as the fanboys would like otherwise, the poll shows quite a high level of dissatisfaction with the game, which correlates with my experience of the game.
i'm not sure what they were thinking, but i bet it went something like this: AoC developer: "my team needs another 3-6months to add the features we promised and to squash the game-breaking and other high-priority bugs" AoC manager: "bah, screw the players, 90% of them are idiots and will happily pay us while we add the features we promised on the box and fix the bugs"

man fanboys will say anything to defend their game... (first/second MMO syndrome?). |

For anyone thinking of getting Conan:
don't. it's really buggy, and missing a lot of basic content.
honest opinion: give FC 3-6 months to fix the game, then if you still want to try it, do so then. note: you might not like it because everything is instanced and the gameplay as a whole is not really anything new or different, however the graphics are pretty decent.
basically: don't pay FC to bugfix a beta-quality game. |

keep backpedalling, fanboys, AoC is only 70% of a failure! |

to the retards: read my post *carefully*, especially the underlined part.
only 30% of all who voted were both happy & pleased with the game in its current state. 70% are either not happy, or not pleased. both of which are bad, duh.
ps: it's not my poll, it's linked from the official EU AoC forums. pps: you non-stop fanboys are hilarious, but the numbers do not lie.

from http://www.snappoll.com/view_results.php?poll_id=272139: just under 70% of over 1200 players are unhappy or not pleased with AoC in its current state. you are welcome to vote at http://snappoll.com/poll/272139.php.
proves that most of us who have serious reservations about the game are *not* "just trolls". |
