Darkfall- same ingame heat like UO had in its early years?

There is so many WOW players that would switch to Darkfall instantly if such a game delivers what we all hope it will. I want meaning in my gameplay. I played WOW for a year and finally found myself playing a meaningless game with boring never ending grinding on same bosses week after week. This i found very stressing cause it didnt give me any fun or meaning. There was no freedom in WOW nor any ingame heat. The game was as funny as looking paint dry. Thats how my WOW experience ended. And im not the only one with such a experience. I guess you never experienced the other side of the coin, hardcore PvP with full loot and always watching your back in dungeons and believe me its way more fun and will give you a longlasting different gameexperience. People play WOW and similar games cause they have no alternative option. |

But of course many players with no earlier experience of full loot, total freedom and lots of ingame heat will need some time to adapt. A game like Darkfall wont attract the same masses like a game like WOW, but if it they succeed to deliver the playerbase will be impressive. People still play UO on freeshards despite the crappy graphics and its a game often recaptured in discussions about player freedom and ingame heat. It was a magical athmosphere that made it longlasting interesting. I think Darkfall will deliver about the same athmosphere. Today MMORPG games lack this longlasting effect. Sure i played WOW for 1 year but totally lost interest when i realized how increadibly boring the endgame characters existence was. Was forever grinding, and by grinding i mean something you do that isnt fun anymore. So i jumped back to UO freeshards and started to have fun again. |

Darkfall- same ingame heat like UO had in its early years?

Hi. It seems MMORPG games available nowadays tends to mainly attract the carebear communities. Played Everquest for a while and WOW for a year and realized these games gets insanely boring with the never ending grinding for the leetest sword/armor ingame. No looting, safe instances, itembased PvP and poor interaction btw enemies is all carebear features i truly despice. Dont get me wrong, its good these kind of games is being developed. Various game with different features is always a +. What i do miss in the available MMORPG:s nowadays is the ingame heat i experienced in pretrammel UO all the way to patch 16. After AOS was introduced to UO the game died for me. The ingame heat comes from total free interaction btw players, ability to choose yourself who to kill and where, full loot. Possibility to interact everywhere without having game mechanics preventing you. People that played UO from early years understands what i mean. Total freedom is the right word i guess. I have been following Darkfall for several years. The game which been in serious development for +4 years have ingame features that really sticks out. Total freedom everywhere without any game mechanics that prevent youre choices. No instances, full loot, kill anyone anywhere, no itembased PvP is just some of the features. As i see it, Darkfall is the only game under development that have anything like these features. Im aware that many MMORPG players have a hard time accepting some of these features since they never experienced games like early UO. Thats fine, they can keep playing the carebear game if thats what make them tick. Point is, the only game that addresses the real hardcore PvP-community is Darkfall Online. Its like old UO in 3-D and much, much more. Game isnt in beta yet and the vaporware mafia is all over it. Developers have a huge finacial backup it seems and is as this is written choosing btw selfpublishing or other publisher. Having the choice to selfpublish is a sign of strength to me and a choice i would choose. It will prevent carebear features in the future. If game will become a vaporware i guess the heat and freedom i search in a MMORPG game will be lost for a long, long time.

Originally posted by daarco Exactly. Cant understand people that dont even seem to wait for the probably best game ever made. Just look at Darkfalls features. And even if all is a total lie from starters i rather wait for Darkfall then play any of the MMORPG:s on the market or coming crap games like AoC. Graphics is just a tiny bit of a good game. Look at UO, superior gameplay and shitty graphics. For the hardcore PvP community there is just one game arround that can save us, and its Darkfall. |
