Yup. Its a legal contract you sign so if you break it you just have to face the consequences. It will not be cheap id tell you. And the money will be taken out of your account no matter you like it or not. |

Again, your participation in the proceedings is not required in most civilised countries.. So unless you are from a banana-republic it don't matter. And will only look bad for your case.
Who cares? They can fine me. I won't pay. They would never get their money. Don't you get it?? It's a joke unless you're able to go to prison.
They just take the money after court said their thing right out of your account and theres nothing you can do about it. So if youre in that situation i would suggest you dont have money in your bank. Kinda hard though cause your paycheck goes through the banksystem. Have a nice day

Its in one of the dev journals or interviews Tasos attended. I try to find it later on, off to work now. Think it was in a quite new one. Or a recently released interview.
Ahh... I didn't realize I had missed any of them. It must have been one that slipped by me. When you get a chance I'd be very interested in the link. Thanks.
Well been looking for the quote an hour now and cant find it. Havent gone through all but think i should have stumbled upon it by now. Anyway, read it somewhere but im giving up on it now. |

If you wanna compare permadeath games with Darkfall then find a game that have perma death and the same retraining period.

Umm... because it's a forum? See in forums people make posts on topics that they think might be interesting to discuss.
Usually a person who doesn't think that topic worthy of discussion would just... oh I don't know... ignore it?
Perma death isnt an option for Darkfall. Reason for it have already been mentioned in this thread, it takes too long time to retrain a new character.

Well he is right, Aion is just another WoW-clone. Nothing to get exited about. |

Good post. And i agree with it all. People tend to be very stirred up the closer were coming release date. Darkfall seems to be ready for release. |

Were discussing video games here not real life. Darkfall is more hardcore then any other MMO out so yes Darkfall is hardcore. Having perma death isnt something that would work so why even discuss it? |

There isnt a engine out there that do what Aventurines does. They had to create their own cause noone available on the market had what it takes to create Darkfall. So i'd say Darkfall technology is way ahead of their competitioners on the MMO market. Fine, noone is forcing you to play Darkfall.

You are not getting my point. This game suffers from the Vanguard syndrom. I tell you, nice snapshot but very choppy synthetic animations and worlddynamics....as in poor shadow dynamics (for christ sake a barrel in that vid looked like it was made of plastic), poor 3D feel to landscape, the polygoncount is not all that good (hexagonal Cannons), animations in general just have to few frames pr second (smacks the smoothnes), disasterous little detail to any of the scenes showed in this vid and so on... Don't get me wrong I admire the idealism in the Darkfall team, and I really hope they are getting something decent in place out of all theitr hard work. And they can if gameplay kicks ass. All I am saying is that this game will probably not change the MMO landscape that much. WOW,LotRO,AoC,WAR, EvE are fierce competitors and I think they will keep leading the industry in whatever direction we are moving.... fortunately or unfortunately depending on what kind of a fanboi you are.
This contradicts what you're saying. Videos isnt reliable at all. You never get the same experience from them as you get ingame looking at your monitor. Read these judgement on graphics from beta players and you might understand Darkfall is a beatiful world to play in - http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=82111 Tasos The World-Graphics-Technology The consensus about the graphics is that they’re much better than expected, something we’ve been saying all along. The game has been very stable and smooth overall, even in the full debug mode it’s running in. We’re experiencing really good gameplay from all over the world, even though our beta servers are in Germany, we’ve had no problems reported by testers in Western N. America, or in the Far East.
“The meticulously detailed world map is as huge as promised and feels so much more 3-dimensional than past MMORPG's that relied on height mapping. The overpasses, caves, chasms and crags, they add huge amounts of atmosphere to the environment.” “Only testing for a couple of hours now, but i just have to say, everything looks just so detailed... i am not really into gfx, but i am really amazed on all the things i've seen so far... very impressive...” “I walked from Chopping Necks (westernmost Ork starter town) to the coast to the east over 2 or 3 hours and NOT ONCE was I bored with repetitive landscape. There is almost always a settlement of goblins, freaky bird-men, hivekin, or something going on, and it's on all sides of you. I swam to an island off the coast, then to a second island. In total, the trip took about 4-5 hours one-way. I explored what looked like ~3% of the total map. Do the math! The world is gigantic!” “Build 50 is extremely stable. I haven't crashed once and I've been playing a lot of hours. I have found very few bugs.” “The amount of scaling possible with the graphics is genius. You have more options than ever and they all make sense. You don't have to have an enthusiast-level rig to enjoy df.” “The graphics scale pretty well apparently. The game looks fine. They need to do some optimization, but everything is running in debug mode and I get 60-90 FPS.” “From the moment of logging in I was in awe. The world is simply amazing and one cannot describe the intricacies and details of the vast world of Agon. I have never been a visually captivated gamer but I can't help but stop to admire the craftsmanship that formed this virtual world.” “The world is amazing, I must say. I've only been around the Alfar parts so far - pure awesomesauce there - and every part there feels unique. “I wont nit pick for silly things but the game it self ran very smooth I was running at 120-150 ping to the European servers. I only ran across one lag spot as I was running around the land. I love seeing the skill gain system working just from using abilities, it's been to long to see that. I have a high end system but I run on an 8800GT (waiting for release to get my new card) and it still ran smooth.” “I think there should be more about the quality of the graphics as that was one of the major criticisms made by your detractors. After playing, I honestly think you guys managed to make fools out of them.” “The client is very stable, haven't had a single crash. The worldbuilding is very good indeed (as other's have noted as well). It looks and feels believable as a world filled with strange creatures, and that you can go wherever you want is really fun.” “Performance is better than I would have ever imagined on my machine.” “The graphics are strange in some places and absolutely superb in others. Some stuff like rocks, gardens and books just blew me away with the detail and beauty. Some rocks looked like a photograph while others had some pretty sharp edges to them and didn't look very real. Note that I have not seen much of the world and it is strictly limited to the dwarven starting area.” “Main thing that has impressed me so far is the quality of the worldbuilding. The people responsible for that really outdid themselves and should be proud of their work. It is sheer delight to go striking out in a random direction and seeing what you can see; both overall settings and nuanced details are superb.” “Have u ever stop playing, sit back and admire the sunrise or the sunset in ANY other MMO? Darkfall was my first... “Every bit of the music I've heard so far fits the setting it's in, especially the Alfar starting areas and Shoal itself. It's not the typical fantasy MMO style tunes that I had expected but more eerie and dark, sometimes hollow feeling. Even the weird almost digital/ambient-industrial sounding splash screen music is well done and gets you in just the right mood to play. “Client is stable and amazing, i've been playing since the MUD/"The Realm"/ "The world is massive feeling and as I looked up at the sky I saw the sun moving. The shadows drew closer to me from a tower up on a hillside and I was looking at how the shadow changed as the sun moved. Then I got annihilated by a pack of goblins scouts because I was paying too much attention to the wrong parts of my surroundings." “I can't give enough credit to the art direction. Everywhere you go, you get a pretty clear "Darkfall" ambience that is truly unique and immersive. There is a lot of attention to detail and you can tell that there was a lot of love put into some of the design. The quality of graphics and animation have a little inconsistency, but overall there is a "wow" factor that I never expected from an MMO that gives you free range over everything. Just watching the sun/moon phases takes up way too much of my time. I never thought I'd be sitting in the swamps of Morak and commenting on the beauty of the sun eclipsing as it sets under a misty horizon.”

Should players with names like "Spider-Man" and "Hannah Montana" in the Darkfall world be PK'd relentlessly?

Darkfall will look like the best Darkfall screenshots onscreen. This is confirmed. I can bring you screenshots all day and compare Darkfall and WoW screenies and WoW will loose everytime. I think it's fun that a small Indy company like Aventurine seems to top a large dragon company as Blizzard both in graphics and gameplay. That you dont see every day, do you? So it will look like this onscreen which isnt at all bad as i see it -

I suggest you go back to one of the numerous carebear games available and leave this the only game we the oldtimer UO-players have to look forward too. But noooooooooo, you have to jump on this game too cause you cant accept it to be ONE game for us to play and have fun in. Talk aout being egoistic. I wont write here what i really think of you cause that would get me banned. And people wonders why Darkfall fans hates carebears?!? |

Agree, it requires low polygon graphics but i disagree it's poor graphics cause of that. WoW have low polygon graphics and in that case i totally agree, it's very ugly low polygon graphics. Darkfalls graphics is so much better then the graphics we see in WoW - Just compare these two, both from 2008 - Darkfall -
WoW -
WoW is cartoonish and plain awful. Just look at the WoW sky if you can call that a sky will say. Have a nice day |

Originally posted by RightInThere Hold your horses, i can understand animation criticism but Darkfall graphics is top of the class. So Darkfall will score very high on both graphics and gameplay if they deliver whats promised. And you have to remember - gameplay is always what counts in the long run. |
