Massively.com on the history of SWG. Apparently the players didnt leave because of the changes in the NGE...

Just ignore that Michael Zenke character's posts. He puts his personal moronic spin on everything he writes, we're better off not wasting any more time on it. |

I was looking forward to trying out Mythos, it seemed like most people were pretty satisfied with it. Something else that kinda sucks now (on top of the fact that we don't know if it'll ever be released) is that even if a new company takes over development they may not really understand the design of the game and it may never be as good as it could've been had Flagship finished it. Whoever takes it over is unlikely to have the same vision for it, and even if it does come out in time to still be relevent I bet it will just be another FTP micro-transaction grind-fest. It's really weird the way this whole thing developed, one day everything is progressing towards open beta nicely, and out of the blue a week or two later the game has been shut down. |

It's only a matter of time until Blizzard brings RMT into WoW. There is sooooo much money out there that they are losing out to the gold farmers. I'm glad the case got resolved this way. There was really no way that the guy was going to beat out a billion dollar company in court. When you log onto the game you agree to play by their rules. Simple as that. |

Video demonstrating massive WAR RVR battles revealed at E3
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 7/15/08 6:57:06 AM
Still looking forward to this game, but the video wasn't quite as awesome as I was hoping it would be. I agree the animations look somewhat choppy and the spell effects often didn't look like they really fit into the environment. They kinda had a "pasted-in" look to them. The first clip in the video actually made me think someone had uploaded a DAoC video as a joke. The finaly shot of everyone fighting in the city looked a lot better, and I still have high hopes for WAR. But with this video, and the dungeon video they released (the one that looked like 50+ rooms all with the same texture)... I really want to see something more impressive soon. |

It got cancelled. One of the nice things about Blizzard, if their game will be below average they don't release it, they just push it back however long it takes to make it good. (I'm looking forward to Diablo 3, released sometime in mid-2015.) But I guess this one hit a dead end and was never going to live up to their standards. edit: Btw, the new ghosts in SC2 have stealth-sniper abilities and look awesome. |

Originally posted by D3mis3 One other thing to look into: Enabling and setting up anti-aliasing was tricky for me, it doesn't really turn on unless you edit one of the config files. If you still have jagged edges on your graphics, turning on anti-aliasiing will help smooth everything out and not hit you too hard performance-wise. (It should be pretty easy to tell in-game whether or not it's enabled, cause all the environment lines around you will be pretty broken up looking.) Here is what I had to do to get AA enabled in the game, in case you need: 1.) Add a line to the eq2.ini file in EQ2 directory (or create one if one isn't already there) as follows: r_aa_blit 1 (Just make it the first line in the file) Close the file, saving the changes as you do. 2.) In the NVidia Control Panel, navigate to the 3D Settings menu, and then to the part where you can customize specific game's performance on the Program Settings tab. Find the EQ2 entry, make sure that it points to the file Everquest2.exe. Change the entry for anti-aliasing from "Use global setting" to "2x". Apply the changes. I think that 4x anti-aliasing works too, but until I did those two steps I couldn't for the life of me get AA enabled in the game. I think it's because anything above 4x AA isn't supported, and if the card is set above 4x then the game automatically disables the anti-aliasing. But as long as you tell it to use the lower settings for EQ2 then it works fine and makes a 100x improvement in graphic quality. |

Agree with this. I thought I read somewhere that EQ2 isn't even coded to take advantage of dual cores, let alone quad. I'm sure that upgrading to a quad just because "doood!! 4x CPU are better than 2!!!" isn't going to help performance-wise. Faster CPU will help, the game does like a fast processor. But it won't take full advantage of the quad CPUs . |

Shadows always kill my framerates. Drops them down below 20-30. Make sure to turn those off and you will see a good improvement. With that setup you should easily get 40-50+ fps in most areas, though you may still have to cut back on some settings when there are lots of people and effects going on around you. |

Way to go, man. Grats on taking the final step, that isn't an easy thing to do. Even if technically SOE killed your characters long ago, it's nice to make it official. =D |

Thinking of giving EQ2 another (trial) chance
The Tavern (General) « Everquest II 7/08/08 6:25:10 AM
You should definitely contact SOE customer service of some sort to see if they will give you a refund for the exp packs. That's quite a bit of money to spend on something that was already active on your accounts. They shouldn't charge you for the expansion just because you weren't aware of the promotion that is currently going on. It would be really difficult for them to refuse you a refund, imo. If they did, that's pretty shady of them. |

Why SOE and LEC have tried so hard to silence and discredit disgruntled veteran players

Edit: I should read threads before posting. |

It's painful to see something once so beloved dying such a slow death. Those emote-spamming, junk loot collecting monkeys need to find something better to do with thier $15 a month so that Sony can pull the plug already and let this damn thing end. |

Funcom deals coup-de-grace to MMORPG's

Originally posted by Vortigon My point is that just because there isn't technically a loading screen doesn't mean the game has no loading times. On my PC it would take around 3-5 seconds between unloading one system and loading the next, not counting the game-designed delays which would up that number even further. Saying that there are no loading screens in EVE is really misleading, even if it's technically true, because there are breaks between every system that are functionally identical to watching a progress bar. I would expect a game without loading screens to have smooth transitions between zones, or a seamless world where you can transverse one side to the other without having to stop. Not the case in EVE. |

There aren't loading screens, but you can watch the interface and environment slowly appear piece by piece every time you jump systems. No they don't show the standard "artwork with progress bar," but they might as well for how long things take to load. Between jumping stargates, acceleration gates, docking, undocking, and the oftentimes slow to respond interface, there is more time spent waiting for things to load in EVE than most other online games. (The first response to this comment will probably be "then don't take your 9 year old Pentium 2 and 56k into Jita" so I'll respond in advance that I have a capable gaming pc.) |

Hi. I also did not receive my trial key after downloading the DDO trial. Nothing in the spam folder, and I can't post on the tech help at Turbine's forums because it seems I need the key to create the account. Could someone please refer a key to me at (thanks for sending the invite, Sevenwind) . Thanks in advance... Looking forward to creating my character. (I'm leaning towards a Bard |
