Hit it right on the nail. Waiting for that next mmo to strike your fancy is becoming more and more a dream rather than a reality. Seems like ever since WoW came on the scene everything released has been compared to it not even giving it a chance to shine on it's own.  But yet if it does even resemble WoW in the least bit everyone cries clone and still drags it through the dirt. I don't understand it anymore. Do you want something new or don't you?

LOL! EA the wost? Obviously you never dealt with SOE. SOE has the worst in history hands down. And let's not forget Failcom. Oh boy... let's not even go there.

I believe more than anything that the real reason behind WoW's success was the overall timing of it. A fresh mmo in a stale gaming scene. A game that anyone from 5 years old to 50 can play. A huge advertising campaign including plastering it all over Battlenet. Yeah.. the timing was undeniably perfect. and set them up for life. Now thx to that they have enough cash to buy every other mmo out there. I sometimes wonder where the monopoly laws from long ago went to.. then I remember bill gates and microsoft and realize it's been going on for quite some time lol. Eh.. a little bit of a tangent so I'll stop now.

P.S. The gaming scene is still stale btw.

This is stupid. Only four years and everyone forgot WoW was not finished and had plenty of bugs when it was released?  How long it took them to fix the floating bodies glitch? Where is the housing promised 4 years ago? Only now getting the first hero class when there was an advanced class promised for every class currently ingame? No game is perfect. None ever keep their word about what will be implemented. Every game is released with some level of bugs present. Name one that didn't.. I dare you. Sorry to go on a tangent but I'm kinda tired of these topics that are so redundant.

Looks very similar to LOTRO's graphics which I currently play. I played WoW for 3 years and the graphics style was quite on purpose. They wanted to stick to the look and feel of Warcraft 3.

Companies have shut down games in favor of other projects before. Turbine shut down Asherons Call 2 in 2005 so they could devote all their resources to Dungeons and Dragons Online. So I guess anything is possible. Guess you just have to wait and see.

I learned a long time ago to stay the hell away from anything by Funcom or SOE.

There is a phishing scam that looks very similar. I got one and was immediately suspicious. I checked the links and sure enough the link to the account management was worldofvvarcraft.com. Now if you didnt catch that the W in warcraft was two V's. Pretty sneaky if you ask me. So my advice before you freak out is double check the links in the tab at the bottom of your browser.

I applied back in Sept and no invite. I have checked every two weeks at least. And even if you are registered as a hotmail acct it should still show up in your Beta Status Info on the main site regardless.

It's actually a kiddie dating service and a pedofiles wet dream. Some of the chat is unreal.

If adults are going to go out and buy a Mature rated game for their kids than that adult needs to goto parenting classes. The mature rating was placed there for a reason. But I do agree.. WoW is popular because it is so easy to understand and play. Blizzard created it with the concept of the largest age range possible.. in that they succeeded. Hense their 10 million players. How much you want to bet several million of those are under 13? AoC will attract a more older audience.. the kiddies can stay at WoW...

Warcraft is bad for the MMOG industry in one way. There's no room for anyone else. Games being shut down cause they can't compete and Blizz is just  loving it. I actually read a statement once that had an employee quoted as saying.. "We're on top and no one can stop us." Seriously.. Blizz is king for the next decade and they know it. It's just a shame that all these other games are slowly dying cause of it.

WoW is the devil's magic...

 Flagship Studios AKA developers of Diablo 2 are now working on a little game known as Mythos.

So I highly doubt it'll be a Diablo mmo.
