I understand that If they invest $1 doing what they normally do they are used to getting X% profit back and that TR came NOWHERE near the X% profit on investment they are used to making in their market, so I can see the buisness end of it, but if it wasn't working for you SELL IT and get your money back!

The IP needed work and it was developing new MMO markets as it expanded old ones, and there are game developers that would kill for that.

Just my 2 cents

And they could use your two cents, and mine, and that bloke up there.

NCSoft has actually made it quite apparent that they have no interest in supporting failing "western" titles, for better or worse.

I have no doubt their "western" interest lies in Aion and Champions. If those two fail, I am pretty sure NCSoft as a name in this industry as a "local" developer is toast. If you want to ensure game longevity, pick SOE's superheroes title (they'll keep the servers running in case of failure), meanwhile Aion doesn't seem to have a competitor, and lots of (uninteresting) hype.

As the life cycle of Tabula Rasa comes to an end, the folks at NCsoft have posted a final message to the game's fans.

As we return to Earth, our battle comes to an end. Thank you to all the fans who have supported us for the last few years! We hope you have enjoyed your journey through the galaxy and that the next worlds you visit will be filled with excitement and fun.

We'd like to extend a special thanks to our community - fansite administrators, forum administrators, and friends - for it is your passion and commitment that drives us to keep creating new and unique games. With every ending comes a new beginning, a clean slate, and a new story to be written. Thank you from all of us on the Tabula Rasa team, past and present.

### end of transmission ###

Read more here.

I am sorry to see it go in a strange way. I played TR in beta and was horrified. The I returned last September and played until the announcement. At that point I packed my knives and left. I was even having a good time to be honest. The three things that stick out in my mind were the artwork, the sound effects, and that Radar O'Reilly (sp) voice really peaked my sense of humor and enjoyment. There were still several flaws though. I can state that without a doubt, but it was fun for casual gameplay. If you played it as a solo game it could even be challenging at times (I did, so perhaps a flaw there).

Sorry to see it go, better luck in the future to those that helped make it playable after a terrible launch.

I'm just curious to know if there is an official way to cancel your DF account?

Well first off you have to have one. That would be a problem for you! Cant cancel what you do not own. (BUT I DO HAZ IT AN IT SUCKZZ!!1111! <- incoming)

Ok than can you do me a favor, if it's not too much trouble? Go into your account management and see if there is a "Cancel" feature.

{ Mod Delete }

If Aventurine is going to charge you a recuring fee of $15 after the initial free month runs out, they need to provide a way to cancel your subscription before the free month runs out for people wanting to avoid this charge.

Or are you trying to tell me that after the 30 days are up, you'll have to re-enter your CC info again to subscribe?

The DnL loop. This was a major part of their business plan.

The above is actually not a quote from the post in this thread...it is actually a pm he just sent me because i guess he thought i didnt respond in the thread the way he wanted?

Just the same guy who has been making spam accounts for DF for years now as he is the one who will pm you what he posts in threads if you dont address it and bite his trolling right away.

Heh mod edit....but allow the spamming troll that keep making new accounts (See his join date) to keep posting.  Thats why we love this site =)

If we are focusing on join dates, your account date correlates with the time the darkfall ratings spam (and berating other games) started here on mmo. It also correlates with the off-topic post spam in non-darkfall forums.

You on crack buddy? LOL.

Most people can't even buy the game or login at the moment.  It is still vaporware, until they fix their account issues and let the customers who want in, in.

Having 5 or 6000 people manage to get in before the account server was closed does not mean the game is good and open for business.

Let's wait and see before you go tell everyone they were wrong, because right now, 9 out of 10 people can't even try Darkfall.

Actually. It hasn't been "vapor" for two months. The quality of the game has been brought into serious question over the past week though. Not to mention the sign up/billiing/account system which is not in question, because the question has been answered, it sucks. The OP did bring up click fests and the like, and many of the reviews are stating it is a subjective click fest because you run the chance of hitting a friendly everytime you swing (since they keep jumping in front of you). For the rest of the post, I agree.

I don't understand how anyone could say the game has crap graphics because Blizzard just have done wonders with their art style I mean look at something like EQ2 and how dated that looks now and WoW is looking more modern and up to date purely because Blizzard put so much detail into their game.

I havn't played WoW for years but I was amazed at how good it is looking.

WoW's engine has always been forgiving. The art direction has always been interesting. I think the arguments casting the graphics in a negative light have always been reinforced with other objective objections to the game itself. In playtime, I gave wow two shakes (two months), but concept art was never a problem for me (perhaps character customization only). I thought the world was gorgeous, I thought the cities for the virgin visitor were impressive at first exploration, and this is in a time when I started to feel like SWG (EQ2 Engine) was starting to feel dated.

I still don't believe WoW ever "sucked," I just realized it wasnt for me, that doesn't mean it's a bad game.

Anyways now that the "omg lol DF phail" nonsense is over, the game can now really start to shine and we hope that the developers solve their billing/account issues so they can focus on more content asap and balancing some of the stuff in game that needs it.

Imbant. It is a sandbox. You are supposed to make your own content.

It's almost a philisophical question, what came first? The troll or the hardcore fanboy?  The reason DF keeps getting consistently trolled hardcore, is simply the reaction the trolls have been getting from the "fanboys".. You have to understand "trolls" do not care about the game.. Many probably don't even play mmorpgs, but once they find an "easy" target, it becomes a feeding frenzy.  They LOVE whipping people into a defensive fury..  Many "trolling" related sites have "how to troll darkfall" pieces..  Even encyclopedia dramatica has a "how to troll darkfall" on it's darkfall page.  You can't argue logic with a troll, you can't even have a conversation with one. The only way to beat a troll, is to ignore that they're even there.  These threads (and the numerious ones posted EVERYDAY) just encourage them.  They're not going to say, "Hey, that guy has a real logical arguement against my statement, I'm going to relent." No.. They're going to say "LOL NUBS, DF SUXX!! *instert here* WAS/IS SO MUCH BETTER THEN DARKFAIL", only with worse spelling and grammer.

Your first statement was interesting. Everything following the first period was just the same-old-tripe.

I'd imagine the only thing that will be moved from Euro servers to the new servers is the character itself.

So, since the major (and to me, unfounded,) gripe is that clans built their (destructable, btw) cities before you could, then why not just wait till the NA release and try and build yours there?

Because this level of "customer service" has no place in the NA market, unless it is F2P. I hate F2P games, but this is a serious candidate. Why pay for this level. I await the reverse engineering on this one (same level of service).

take there city from them. Im sure if alot of you are pissed about the clans that got there cities from exploiting that all the clans that get to the game late will have no promblem banding together and taking there cities from them.

or call your CC and reverse the charges,

man.. Seriously another failed mmo? It looked so fresh on paper though!

Yup. But sad fact is that the OP is right.

I live in the EU territory where this game is now released and the servers are in fact dead.

I actually liked the game and it had some refreshing gameplay and some decent quests. Especially the mob AI was also very refreshing.

A game that had build up a pretty large fanbase over the years during development. A game wich had a good chance in making a good dent in the Niche market.

But screwed itself and the entire fanbase with the most horrendous and idiotic Publisher deals and IP ban schemes I have ever witnessed.

They completely obliterated the entire fanbase with that publisher deal announcement end last year.

And the current dead servers gives pretty much a clear sign what interest there is left in this game. As mind you that their own country (The Netherlands) is in this current released region as well.

Excuse my ignorance, and it is ignorance. What is the state of Spellborn in terms of publisher in the EU? I can think of a few publishers I would not do business with at the moment, SOE leading the list. I have heard some good things about Spellborn, but I also know EU players are somewhat sensitive to the companies they do business with (like SOE, who had a large following with SOE until the CU & NGE with SWG).

As of today Acclaim announced on Voon that there will be no more IP ban after Spellborn launches next week in CB. Anyone will ultimately be able to play anywhere. Exactly when that is I can't say to the date.I am not as technical as many others on the forums so I cannot elaborate more than that cause I don't know. Hopefully plain English as above will suffice.

Please visit http://spellborn.acclaim.com/index.html for details after you register. All details are there if you want them.

The game will be free to download and play for many levels. The number of levels  keeps on expanding.  Mirage and Frogster publish in the EU alonf with Acclaim. Look to see which one you are under but remember the IP ban is coming down.

Good response. Thanks.

With clans like LOD and many others exploiting the bleep out of the sync issue the server is already compromised. The opening day catered to cheaters and now 13 citys are already claimed. There is no competition any more due to the rocky launch and futher more, we cannot voice our opinions due to the official forums being down. I dont know about you guys, but when i asked my race alliance wether or not they wanted a wipe, 90 percent were all for it.

This is getting interesting.

The quote is directly from the last update by Stradden. I trust him, so I am assuming it is authentic.

everyone that goes to the DF knows the quote is real.

time after time you are missing the point.  you came to a ridiculous conclusion when you read the quote.

You haven't made a point.

maybe you'll get it on the 6th or 7th attempt?  are you really TRYING to think about this rationally?

"Only a small percentage of these were successful and we found out that this is because most of them contain incomplete or incorrect account information." - Tasos (actual statement)

"That's Right! It's YOUR Fault!" - Tasos (ridiculous misinterpretation)

hmmmm....could there possibly be any reason OTHER THAN USER ERROR for data to be incomplete or incorrect with all the smooth, flawless and COMPLETED transactions that were done on overloaded servers?

lol, why am bothering to explain such basic logic.

good job of trolling, i got suckered into it for a change

For the last time. The "flames" in this thread have only been coming from you. The have been critiques of AV, not towards other posters, minus yours. You rock. You really do. I didn't try to sucker you into anything (for the last time). Rationally, I can wrap my head around "incomplete" data, as for "incorrect"? That is user/input error. Keep on keeping on!. You are making this thread in a way I never intended when I started it.

Who said anything about 6th or 7th attempts by the way? Another fabrication?

you'll be back.  you're "job" isn't done here yet.

that's what i was referring when i said  "6th or 7th attempts.   how you'll keep coming back STILL missing the point.   and to illustrate how you miss points, you missed THAT point.

so you are admitting you had some kind of idea in mind for how you thought people would respond in here when you formed your thread title and original post?  hmmmm, what COULD that motive have been!  hmmmm!  thanks for coming back!

As of this post. You have still not made a point. Ad-Homs aside. What you continue to do is explain your non-points, over and over and over. Then you move on to explaining yet another non-point, making this a revolving conversation of nothing. Then you assign motives, more nothing.

So, I guess we can leave it at you just want an argument! This isn't a job =). Internalize your objections all you like, the statement still stands.
