General: Final Transmission from Tabula Rasa

NCSoft has actually made it quite apparent that they have no interest in supporting failing "western" titles, for better or worse. I have no doubt their "western" interest lies in Aion and Champions. If those two fail, I am pretty sure NCSoft as a name in this industry as a "local" developer is toast. If you want to ensure game longevity, pick SOE's superheroes title (they'll keep the servers running in case of failure), meanwhile Aion doesn't seem to have a competitor, and lots of (uninteresting) hype. |

General: Final Transmission from Tabula Rasa

Originally posted by Szark I am sorry to see it go in a strange way. I played TR in beta and was horrified. The I returned last September and played until the announcement. At that point I packed my knives and left. I was even having a good time to be honest. The three things that stick out in my mind were the artwork, the sound effects, and that Radar O'Reilly (sp) voice really peaked my sense of humor and enjoyment. There were still several flaws though. I can state that without a doubt, but it was fun for casual gameplay. If you played it as a solo game it could even be challenging at times (I did, so perhaps a flaw there). Sorry to see it go, better luck in the future to those that helped make it playable after a terrible launch. |

The DnL loop. This was a major part of their business plan. |

Actually. It hasn't been "vapor" for two months. The quality of the game has been brought into serious question over the past week though. Not to mention the sign up/billiing/account system which is not in question, because the question has been answered, it sucks. The OP did bring up click fests and the like, and many of the reviews are stating it is a subjective click fest because you run the chance of hitting a friendly everytime you swing (since they keep jumping in front of you). For the rest of the post, I agree. |

WoW is just the best looking mmorpg to date.

WoW's engine has always been forgiving. The art direction has always been interesting. I think the arguments casting the graphics in a negative light have always been reinforced with other objective objections to the game itself. In playtime, I gave wow two shakes (two months), but concept art was never a problem for me (perhaps character customization only). I thought the world was gorgeous, I thought the cities for the virgin visitor were impressive at first exploration, and this is in a time when I started to feel like SWG (EQ2 Engine) was starting to feel dated. I still don't believe WoW ever "sucked," I just realized it wasnt for me, that doesn't mean it's a bad game. |

For the people who want a wipe - why not just move to NA servers when they come out?

Because this level of "customer service" has no place in the NA market, unless it is F2P. I hate F2P games, but this is a serious candidate. Why pay for this level. I await the reverse engineering on this one (same level of service). |

NO Wipe because of those exploiting dirty clans, all you have to do is...

Excuse my ignorance, and it is ignorance. What is the state of Spellborn in terms of publisher in the EU? I can think of a few publishers I would not do business with at the moment, SOE leading the list. I have heard some good things about Spellborn, but I also know EU players are somewhat sensitive to the companies they do business with (like SOE, who had a large following with SOE until the CU & NGE with SWG). As of today Acclaim announced on Voon that there will be no more IP ban after Spellborn launches next week in CB. Anyone will ultimately be able to play anywhere. Exactly when that is I can't say to the date.I am not as technical as many others on the forums so I cannot elaborate more than that cause I don't know. Hopefully plain English as above will suffice. Please visit http://spellborn.acclaim.com/index.html for details after you register. All details are there if you want them. The game will be free to download and play for many levels. The number of levels keeps on expanding. Mirage and Frogster publish in the EU alonf with Acclaim. Look to see which one you are under but remember the IP ban is coming down.
Good response. Thanks. |

Yup. But sad fact is that the OP is right. I live in the EU territory where this game is now released and the servers are in fact dead. I actually liked the game and it had some refreshing gameplay and some decent quests. Especially the mob AI was also very refreshing. A game that had build up a pretty large fanbase over the years during development. A game wich had a good chance in making a good dent in the Niche market. But screwed itself and the entire fanbase with the most horrendous and idiotic Publisher deals and IP ban schemes I have ever witnessed. They completely obliterated the entire fanbase with that publisher deal announcement end last year. And the current dead servers gives pretty much a clear sign what interest there is left in this game. As mind you that their own country (The Netherlands) is in this current released region as well.

you'll be back. you're "job" isn't done here yet. that's what i was referring when i said "6th or 7th attempts. how you'll keep coming back STILL missing the point. and to illustrate how you miss points, you missed THAT point. so you are admitting you had some kind of idea in mind for how you thought people would respond in here when you formed your thread title and original post? hmmmm, what COULD that motive have been! hmmmm! thanks for coming back! As of this post. You have still not made a point. Ad-Homs aside. What you continue to do is explain your non-points, over and over and over. Then you move on to explaining yet another non-point, making this a revolving conversation of nothing. Then you assign motives, more nothing. So, I guess we can leave it at you just want an argument! This isn't a job =). Internalize your objections all you like, the statement still stands. |
