Thats actually a really great deal.

Dune would need to be a sandbox with a sprinkle of themepark. A themepark would make poor use of the franchises resources. Maybe not races, but a mixture of clans (fremen) and houses (like orginizations). I would go with the houses as the 'classing' leading to 3 faction pvp.  I would consider an ability system based on a mixture of 'dialects' like skill trees. I think this is good based off how much pride and spirit within each house. Its all about the name, atreides, harkonen, and corrino. Fremen would be somewhat neutral in terms of shoot on site, but hostile to all. Benne Gesserete would follow the same guidlines. The last two metioned would be a possible tuning mechanic for the 3 faction pvp, siding with whoever would benefit them most.

The characters would need to feel unique in a non traditional way. And this is where it becomes a niche game. Personal I feel like its unavoidable. The player would need to build a relationship with their character. There needs to be consequences, to have the player think about their actions. No perma death. I wish it to be, but perma death would be too harsh. Perhaps an undetermined recovery period requiring training like a challenge maybe.

For the longest time, you could only receive a SoR once per account. I got 1 like 2-3 years ago and have not been eligible for a long time. With these pretty awesome incentives, does anyone know if this rule still applies?

You can never please people. If it is too hard there is tons of QQ about it and then they bring up how Korean mmos are just a grind fest. Well hate to say it but that is a STEREOTYPE! This game is way easier to level than other Korean mmos.

 

Sure the questing is the same as every other game. Pick up a quest and accept it and then kill X monters for Y parts. TERA never said they were changing the way MMO's work with world. Their claim to fame is the COMBAT SYSTEM. Which I think they did a damn good job with and I love it. I won't lie I played SWTOR and that questing was just stupid. Boring voice overs I had to listen to or spam click through to get the quest I wanted. I like being able to get grab and go here. I thought I would miss it but I do not.

 

Most of the people who hate on this game barely played it or did very little research. Why not actually take the time to explore a game and what it offers. How are you going to know 5 levels in that the game sucks? That is just ignorant. Yet we see this during the betas. This will be a great game for those of us who appriciate it. Especially for pvp with how the combat system works.

 

One thing I would like to see for release is a hardcore pvp server. Less safe havens and you some items from your inventory and maybe some gold. That would be awesome.

Like the title says, why so much hate. I tested for the first NA beta and made it to bout lvl 10 iirc. Second beta i couldnt even get successfully updated till 2 hours before it ended so lost out on that. I did manage to make it off the starter island. That is the extent of my experience thus far.

Ive done quite a bit of forum reading on multiple sites about this game. Ppl are being so critical of this game. You may pass judgement after playing for an hour, but when u pass this judgement to others id consider more trolling than anything. Anyone who "reviews" this game with an hour under their belt is just hilarious.

The Complaints:

• Its too easy. (Its beta, closed beta actually. Difficulty can easily be ramped up.)
• Invisible Walls. (I didnt experience any outside of starter zone, but this may be legit or it may just be starter zone hand holding)
• Quests same old style. (Everyone else doing it doesnt make it bad, TOR's questing is supposedly innovative, personally i absolutely hate it. So the need to change it up isnt always WIN.)
• Stuck during Combat Actions. (Although i do agree with this one, it is a necessary evil due to the style of combat and balance. That being said, it does add to combat requiring skill and forethought.)
• KTERA is BAD. (So is every other korean game. Im not korean. This is not a korean market. And, if anyone who has invested into this is smart, they know this.)
• Game sucks. (So you "tested" a game that isnt even fully feature complete and is level capped at half of max, yet youve somehow discovered everything it has to offer and made a decision. QFT.)

From my understanding, the sneak peek has not been rescheduled and cb doesnt start till feb 10... how are you guys playing now?

I definately had to chime in on this one. Im going to put it in very simple terms. MA is doing it right. EU is nothing short of hardcore, and by that i mean, just about every mouse click involves risk. NFC (not for carebears)

Ive been "participating" in EU on and off for years now, close to 5 i believe. I deposited 50 USD in the first month, just to give it a good trial period. One thing you must understand is that it is pretty much impossible to gain a return from MA, and not doing so will spell doom for you from the start. I can happily say that i did infact gain a return, but this was only from other partipants. Over a years time, on and off, i eventually pocketed 500 USD. My enjoyment comes from interacting with the "real world economy". On top of this, especially with cryengine implemented, the world is extremely engaging and immersive. People will always label anything and everything, but it is yourself who must decide if these labels are justified.

It takes a certain kind of person to enjoy the fact that everything you do in this world has a price. MA has provided a foundation that allows its participants to make their own entertainment. The community has not only survived, but thrived. And with almost no marketing AFAIK. It is what you make of it, except when you expect to make a dollar out of fifteen cents.

I would also like a key. Been looking forward to this beta.

I just meant, "it's normal if you knew how they implemented the controls". From what I understand they started with gamepads controls and then mapped those to a keyboard.

 And that is where they fail. That is the most absurd method ive ever heard of. If your going to launch a pc game, you configure the controls for pc users, not for console users. I know they are planning a ps3 release but so was aoc for 360 and that was total fail. If its a pc launch, it should be intuitive to pc users. When or if they decide to go with the ps3 launch, then at THAT time they should worry about console configured controls.

Anyone else getting this message when trying to log into beta test site? I logged in last night just fine with my info, then today i wake up and it tells me my username and pass not found.
